You'd only need two people to operate and carry it. And that deafness by it is bullshit. If you can stand two feet from a 155mm Howitzer and not go deaf, even after a year of duty...

Wizzer, the type of damage a round does doesn't define the weapon that fires it. Technically it is a machine gun as it has an automatic feed system. The gas from the fired round cycles the bolt which loads a new round into the chamber, and the seer plate allows it to fire continually instead of locking after every round.
The barrel and the receiver/bolt assembly can be changed out in less than 2 minutes to convert the unit from a grenade launcher into a .50 cal machine gun.
Maybe the insurgents can invent an exploding paint bomb that will effectively blind the remote device. If it can't see, its pretty much a useless hunk of metal, unfortunately. They can also make a hole that it will fall into after being lured there. Then they will have captured a gun they can use to shoot back.
How does this handle roadside bombs? What is the the effective range of the vehicle? Can it mount heavier weapons? How much does it weigh? Is it airdrop capable? What is the armor protection? Cost per unit?
It looks to me like the bottom is flat, meaning that it won't take roadside bombs well because all of the IED's force is not deflected away from the vehicle's underside. This means the vehicle will take a full hit and be decapacitated.

Very Ghost in the Shell Stand Alone Complex. The machine gun's got a laughably slow rate of fire though. Also, cameras=soft targets. Shoot them out and the thing goes blind. Between that and the tires which can be shot out, i'm not sure i'd put my faith in this design.
You do realize, the tires would not be that easy to pop and the rate of fire was not at maximum. Go head and look at the specs of the actual gun, you would be dead before you could even hit the Cam. not even to mention the camera woulda be protected + it is not the only way the machine spots a target.

it's a new system, which means improvements follow, and like everything is expendable..it doesn't get tired, cold, wet, need food, water, medevac, to take a shit, is faster, can see farther than human(and thus hit farther, can take out most vehicles; on flat open terrain you couldn't get close to it, and they're prob. using HE rounds. It provides standoff capability, and if attacked, the troops and planes go meet the threat.. an early warning system.
Ya the turret could probably use some plating.. but even without it presents a small target... especially if it's moving. the reason for wheels is that wheels are better for flatter terrain and urban environments (iraq anyone?). Not like it would be extremely difficult to make a tracked vehicle.

Seems cool, but I doubt it'd work well for anything but a hostage situation. Without multiple viewing angles, it would be easy to sneak off shots and take out the turret/controls. The hands on human factor can never be fully replaced, unfortunately. Neat toy anyway.

Wizzer, the type of damage a round does doesn't define the weapon that fires it. Technically it is a machine gun as it has an automatic feed system. The gas from the fired round cycles the bolt which loads a new round into the chamber, and the seer plate allows it to fire continually instead of locking after every round.

It looks to me like the bottom is flat, meaning that it won't take roadside bombs well because all of the IED's force is not deflected away from the vehicle's underside. This means the vehicle will take a full hit and be decapacitated.

I didn't say the automated tank would be a good idea. It would be too much. I have nothing against policemen and women being more heavily armed though. Very Ghost in the Shell Stand Alone Complex. The machine gun's got a laughably slow rate of fire though. Also, cameras=soft targets. Shoot them out and the thing goes blind. Between that and the tires which can be shot out, i'm not sure i'd put my faith in this design.

You do realize, the tires would not be that easy to pop and the rate of fire was not at maximum. Go head and look at the specs of the actual gun, you would be dead before you could even hit the Cam. not even to mention the camera woulda be protected + it is not the only way the machine spots a target.

Seems cool, but I doubt it'd work well for anything but a hostage situation. Without multiple viewing angles, it would be easy to sneak off shots and take out the turret/controls. The hands on human factor can never be fully replaced, unfortunately. Neat toy anyway.
