You express your visions, and this is your power, and also your prerogative. To me, as long as things are said with good manners and brain sense shown, it's all fair and it's actually a way to look at my works from another perspective (even though "my work" are just meant to be homages to my beloved band, I don't attempt art or anything high ;))
On YouTube often people simply don't want to hear criticism, not even good one. That's why you might end frustrated. But don't let them let you down :)
@ZairaAmaterasu That's was one of the smartest most nicest comments i have ever read on youtube and heard i'm sorry i just had to comment on how much sense you have :)
@ZairaAmaterasu WOW ! THE BEST COMMMENT IN YOUTUBE. Thanks a lot, it actually soothened me, even though we know this deep inside. As bringing this in action is more beautiful to all of us, thanks dear !
The editing was done well, though it was far too rapid to really enjoy. There was a good 30 seconds or so of the audio that was enjoyable, but most of it sounded like my player was malfunctioning.... not good no matter what style you're aiming for.
The effect of sound skipping is actually due to the heavy process done with Pinnacle of images, effects and sound. It can happen often that the video editing makes the sound hopping a bit: Zaira actually wrote (like she always does) that alert at the end of the video in the credits part. Her video homages to Maroon5 are hints about them: and they're never meant to be occasions to copy the songs, which is why she always keeps the skipping in the vids. It discourages copying.Just to clarify 4 her.
I just read yesterday in NME about Project Aloha? I didn't even imagined Jesse and James were familiar with Gomez (my vousin loves them since Bring It On!) and I hope after the homage you're gonna pay to them with Pure Imagination 09, MIss Z., you will also let us know something out from Maui's inspirational sounds ;) (I am sure you will!)
These guys never stop makin me proud and excited about music. Their influences seem virtually... endless? COOL!
Can't wait to hear the new version of Pure Imagination with Obama's speeches onto out from the official CD/DVD for Obama's inauguration. Miss, if you have already order the "Change IS Now: Renewing America's Promise" package, please let me do the same through that official website. You are my all about source with Maroon ;)
Maroon 5 can't do anything else than beautiful songs. To claim some they did "suck" just is a plain evidence you don't get what class stands up for in music. Even more when you hear something like this, where the amazing voice of Adam mixes with the perfect voice of Queen Mary J. Blige. You really don't like good music, don't you? Pity you.
I personally feel Ronson's done a really class work on it, actually. I love the very retrò feel of it, everytime I figure out kind of... I don't know how to put it up... Liza Minelli's "Cabaret" feel. It's me, maybe, but I feel all the jazzy stuff very well nailed up here. And I so love the mixing of voices, so to me, it's a real plus.
I disagree about that, I think the atmosphere, the mood of the song once remade in more smokey foxtrot vibe needed exactly all those glimpses of sounds Ronson put in. If the shifting of genre was planned (and it obviously was) Ronson just delivered it in a very rich and still quite simple way. Then, to me too, the two voices fit greatly together. It's Adam's aerial touch mixing the amazing force and grounded soul of Mary J. This is faultless, to me, tho hasn't to be necessarily everyone's view;)
I love Mary and the band, but, even though I am a fan of Mark Ronson, I'm not really feeling his production. His production is a mixed bag of nice quirk and unwelcomed disruption.
You are entitled of your opinion. I personally completely adore all tracks on Call&Response, and being a huge admirer of Mary J. Blige (and Mark Ronson, too), I actually rank this specific remix among best 5 tracks there ;)
But if you don't, it's okay. The original version rocks, in fact ;)
A really stunning collaboration for a very, very good album. Rarely remix albums would get my attention or praise but this is actually really well done.
Troppo figa sta cosa!!!!
Great job Miss, thank you. I am surprised by AllMusic review: I know the editor who wrote it is a Maroon5 admirer (you can get it in a way also under C&R review) but I think he misses the point about Maroon5 fans. What I love in M5 classy music is exactly the windows they open up for my musical quest with their influences and beats. The reviewer thinks that their fans are not into alt/dancey/electro but it's wrong. We are, too. M5 thaught us music is a wide sea to bathe in, when it's that great.
Hi Zaira... I know I am late, but I couldn't miss this. Love the song, your work on it, and Call&Response. I saw you posted under Billboard review ;) I think RS writer need a check. She praised the album but dared to call the guys "bubblegum" (Oh, LORD!!!) ;) People just are so stupid sometimes... ;)
I just wrote a bit under that, but really... she's clearly so alienate about real class in music my words won't push any seed into her empty head, or horrific taste ;)
Anyway, I just read on Billboard that the Andy Samberg's comedy team got a record deal with Universal and they're gonna put out a cd/dvd with the best songs on SNL. Guess what? We're gonna finally have IRAN SO FAR!!!! Amazing. It's the only recorded thing Adam did that I lacked ;) 10th February 2009: great day ;)
Pubblicano in cd/dvd Iran So far???? Grande news Miss, grazie!!!!!! Ah.. sto CONSUMANDO Call&Response. Lo ascolto in media 5 volte al giorno... ahahah :)
Yeah, sadly class&style is not for anybody. But in the end, it's fair so. Tasteless people do exist so manufactured pop or unlisteneable indie (the kind that is not even indie, or music at all, the kind that is just weird for the sake of it) can have a market ;)
Couldn't agree more: Class ain't for anybody and it's right so, as this wasy people with class can stand out from the mass the way they deserve to. Happy Xmas dear :)
Queen Mary is really DA DOPE. I am glad you're coming round here for Xmas time Z. Though I will have to mock you for transforming Karim in a stringed slave for you ;)
Anyway, great album and great remixes on C&R. That shines.
Marvelous. And the remix album is COMPLETE GOLD. I know already I will die in 2009, waiting for the third album... But this is gonna fill a bit of void ;)
Ho scaricato l'album domenica.. ma voglio anche il CD fisico!!!! Mi piacciono tutte le versioni, particolarmente il remix di Oakenfold e quello di Questlove su Sunday Morning!:D
What a wonderful combination. I have listened all yesterday to Call & response, and downloaded from iTunes today. Pretty amazing rendition of their songs, really. These guys have flair untouched :)
Amazing Miss Z.!!!! I so love this duet :D and I am totally into Call&Response: I agree that Tiesto and especially Just Blaze's remixes are the very very best in it. But honestly, all did a pretty fine job there, and so did you here Zaira!!! Rock on ;)
I was looking forward to this... I hope that the audio tricks you did for avoiding copyright issues will slow down haunting UMG (they are like erasing all they can find out...).
Anyway, on Call&Response I love everything. Today particularly Little Of Your Time and Oakenfold. It makes me even like Rihanna, there ;)
Wonderful song & Album & Collaboration & Producer. I think the guys sounds awesome in this "clubby" version (well, not exactly in this song, I mean the rest of Call&Response!) Thanx for this!! Look forward to Lovely Day and Xmas ;)
Amazing, Miss. And I am happy you love Tiesto's remix as much as I do.. I also adore Questlove's rendition of Sunday Morning, Mighty Pharrell and the awesome remix of Makes Me Wonder. Top stuff. ;)
whaaaaat that was great. the editing was fab.. i actually thought that they did it toghether (song).
