Yeah I had a few myself 1974 Polaris SS 295 twin carbs, SS 340 colt twin carbs, 72 Skiroule RT 340, Guttless Sach twin but reliable! 75 Moto-ski Capri 440, 74 Chapparral 440 Thunderbird and Firebird, 73 Arctic Cat Panther 440, 72 Moto ski Capri, but this like in the early 80's when we had lots snow. We use to beer tour everywhere back then, you didn't need a trail permitt, times have changed no doubt
Good stuff. I've had 3 Polaris's in my time, '73 Colt SS 250-340 & '79 440TX. The '73 Colt SS 340 was the best of the bunch in terms of durability & reliability. Logged a ton of miles on that sled with no problems outside of normal wear & tear.
On the other end of the spectrum the '79 440TX was not the machine the Colts were, I was glad to get rid of it 3 years later.
i've got a 1976 colt 340ss f/a twin carbs... its mint condition... i could take some pictures for your diagram if your still looking.. also i am thinking of selling it, i live in edmonton alberta
Nice, looks like a 340 and 440 your dad's on. The 440 looks like it has more balls to spin the track and fishtail it, but gear wise the gearbox looks like they may be geared the same or very close. You both race and the little lighter 340 didn't give an inch. Just seems both sleds get geard out at about the same speed/rpm no? I just got a 340 F/A Colt SS motor, you know where I can find some wireing diagrams, and twin carb adjustment specs at? Sems slim pickins on the net for info. Cheers, IC.
