  • Great stuff "ithicaxl" but the true Newfoundland contraction of the word "boy" is actually spelled ( b ' y ) and not ( b y ' ).

  • @Tiberiusduck That's what I thought. But if you were to ask Danny Williams, he will say it is spelt "b y e" :s

  • @cuvauto Aye and if my Grandmother had wheels, she’d be a wagon.

Newfinese,... ya gotta love it. heheh !!! : )

  • Brilliant.

  • PRICELESS!!!! in stitches!!!

  • The end is the best part. As a true blue Newfoundlander and a linguistics buff, this is almost a perfect parody of the vernacular. There are a load of different dialects wihtin Newfoundland, so no one Newfoundland accent. Good job on the vid, @ithicaxl :)

  • Atlantic Canada is a post confederation term.

"The first premier of NL, Joey Smallwood, coined the term Atlantic Canada when Newfoundland and Labrador joined Canada in 1949. He believed it would be presumptuous for NL to assume that it could include itself within the existing term "Maritime Provinces", used to describe the cultural similarities between NB, PEI, and NS. The three Maritime provinces joined Confederation in the nineteenth century: NB and NS in 1867 and PEI in 1873."

  • Maritimes consists of NB, NS and PEI. It's a pre-Confederation term because NL didn't join confederation until 1949.

"The word maritime is an adjective that simply means "of the sea", thus any land associated with the sea can be considered a maritime state or province (eg. All the provinces of Canada except Alberta and Saskatchewan border the ocean). The term "Maritimes" has historically been collectively applied to New Brunswick, Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island."

  • Besides the .... auto voices, it's like listening to the b'ys talk about their weekend! Pretty cool!

  • BAAAAAA HAAAA HAAAAAAAA

  • Epic

  • HAHA

  • How long did it take to get the Maritimer pronunciations right?

  • @chickenlight Newfoundlanders are not maritimers. Newfoundland is not in the maritimes.

  • @phil8888 @TheRimDoctor Ok guys; my Onterrible mis-education tells me that everything east of Quebec is the Maritimes.... What do east coast types consider the Mritimes then? Just NS and NB?

  • @chickenlight PEI is also considered a Maritime Province.

  • @MelanieChinn Thanks, but I don't get it. What makes NL so special then? Why isn't it considered a Maritime province?

  • @chickenlight Correct + PEI.

  • @chickenlight

Not to mention they aren't Maritime Pronouncuations, they are Newfie Accents. The bys down South don't have accents.
