Hmmmm ... what about the reduction of insolation (reflection of a broad spectrum of incoming solar radiation) those clouds provide? Seems to me would COUNTER your 'warming' hypothesis ... no?
What about the phase change the water vapor underwent in converting to condense cloud vapor, this energy would 'warm' the air in the vicinity, then be radiated away by water vapor in that air parcel.

do you mean those stripes? Actually they are called contrails. Those are fumes from the engines. It is very cold in the sky so you get to see these contrails.
quite simply its vaporized water. Think of it as a bunch of little clouds, and the engines are evaporating the water molecules forming those clouds. Its much more scientific then that but you might understand this one.
they are contrails. efficient jet engines produce alot of water vapor, more than the original jet fuel in most cases. when this vapor gets blasted out of the back at xxxx mph, it soon meets the frigid air which is the norm at high alt. so, the water vapor condenses into ice crystals which create the cloud likeness (similar to cirrus) if the air is moist the cyrstals will take longer to sublimate = longer trails, if the air is dryer = short or no trail. if very mosit = persistent trails.
the length and persistency is mainly determined by humidity. -38C is known to be the threshold temp where crystalization begins, but that doesnt mean the trail will be short and get longer as it gets colder and higher. if the air is super saturated at -38 and below, u will see nice long persistant trails, but sometimes there are pockets of different air at different altitudes so thats why it isnt always like one would think it should be.
