@robertgift SHHHH!!!! You're talking about the Pentagon's new Super Air Defense Sheild......Code named 'Kamikaze Fowl'!!! Keep a lid on it, its Top Secret!!!!
Could they not have landed that aircraft on a road? A what appears to be level field may be too irregular and result in aircraft destruction and personnel death.
But so unfortunate that a multi-million dollar aircraft is so easily completely destroyed.
yep they also do it to see what happen to the blades of the engines as well thats why they mark them out. some engines and handle some birds but a to bigger bird could cause the engine to do what it just did in this video.
listening it for a second time... obviously it's a training figther plane with a trainee and a trainer inside... who takes over the controls... kudos to the trainee not ejecting before the command.
ONE identical comment for two videos... hmm... at those speeds nothing would hold-up... the stuff they would put to guard the engine would end up IN the engine.
No, he's obviously an immature kid that thinks 'Death is cool' and/or funny or that watching things die is 'awesome'. Then when the time comes he'd be pissing his pants if he got near an airplane turbine, about to get sucked in, Lol.
Archimedes, No! It's filthy in there!

Could they not have landed the aircraft rather than destroy it?
Amazing the one bird can take out a multimillion dollar military aircraft.
Instead a anti-aircraft artillery shells flinging shrapnel maybe they should scatter birdlike material.

edgarasc1 is right. They use cannons to fire dead chickens into jet engines.

@Slooter93 I suggest looking at FIGHTER- Birdstrike Flameout Ejection Crash. It shows the exact profile of a 2 seater F-16

Restart, restart... we are NOT done, we are NOT done... eject, eject
AMAZING VIDEO!!! how cool the pilots had to be? restarting twice and waiting till the last sec to eject... good insight

they should put gaurds or something in front of the turbine fans keeping everything out of the engine except for the air

ifratc 3 years ago
you need as much air possible to make the jet faster. thats why they need to make stronger fans. some planes can handle birds but not to big birds.

The same film is on YouTube as "The Crash of a Canadian Hawk near Moosejaw in 2004" so maybe that's what it was.
