I am currently converting my saber to a luxeon 1 blue led and have found the optics holder, but i am still trying to determine which optics are best for my saber. the site I have been looking at is: ledsupply(dot)com/20mm.php
i rly would like to make my own lightsaber but i dont know how to get the materials, and which materials i need.
i have the master replic fx of anakin, but i want to create a personal lightsaber. the problem is i am spaniard, and sound device is too hard to get here.
@TIR4NO Sound pcb's are hard to get anywhere these days. I suggest you check out JQ-sabers, the FX-sabers forums and The Custom Saber Shop for parts and/or sound pcb's.
The LSD-X4 is coming soon! It will make the most spectacular sabers ever. The controller board used in this video is the Ultrasound 2.5 by Nova Conceptions. They are still for sale at lsdx4.blogspot.com
@novaCONCEPTIONS Hello there ! I actually got that page in my favourites and i'm looking forward to the day i can get my hands on one of those. Good to know the US 2.5 pcb's are still on the market. Great sound pcb/led driver in my opinion.
Nice saber. I wish mine would've turned out as nice. I'm going to ask Do-Clo how much he charges to fix MHS sabers, I want the same set up as you but with a re-charge port.
@kingunkusss I'm using soldering wire if that's what you mean. More specifically soldering wire for electronics. Ask at your local electronics store if unsure. Also a soldering station is needed.
@snelpiller No, certainly not. There is the possibility of taking apart a Hasbro FX, try getting a crystal focus, or check the second hand market like e-bay and so on. I'd definitely recommend to check FX-sabers or TCSS forums for more intel.
@SnipaPwnage Hi, the Kill-Switch disconnects the battery pack from the rest of the saber. It prevents possible drainage while in "off-mode" from all the electronics. Secondly, sound pcb's are hard to come by if you're looking for ultrasound pcb's or crystal focus. Therefore it's also possible to get hasbro sound pcb's from standard toy sabers and use those. Never tried that though, i'd recommend checking out TCSS or FX-sabers forums for more intel.
@SnipaPwnage Sure, it requires some adjustments and patience of course, but it has been done before. I have no build experience myself, but you might wanna have a look at some of the more experienced tutorials at TCSS or Fx-sabers.
@caspar37@caspar37 Hi, they were anodized in Belgium by a company called "anogel". Was hard to find a company who could do this and was willing to do such a small order though. At the time of building this saber i wanted to try a color. Doing some research i decided to go with anodizing. Powdercoating has benefits and anodizing too. For example : you'll never get the depth of color with powdercoating that you can achieve with anodizing. On the other hand, Anodizing colors are limited in choice
I'm not sure I would heatshrink that board like that...the ultrasounds regulate current and voltage by bleeding it off as heat. If you wrap it, you run the risk of the board over heating and actually getting hot enough to have components slide off the pcb.
That thought actually crossed my mind too when deciding to wrap the pcb. I must say until now i haven't experienced any problems with this solution when wielding the saber. But then again, maybe i should keep it on for let's say half an hour and then see if any problems come up.
It's just something to be aware of...it used to be on the Ultrasabers website in the instructions they had up specifically not to shrink wrap it. It will probably be okay, though, since you aren't driving a Luxeon III with 7.2 volts with it.
True. I did the test to check the saber and kept it on for 30 - 35 mins, pulled out the batt. pack with pcb at 15 min to check the heat and it was only lukewarm. Closed the saber again and after 30 min+ i rechecked and still the same.
In this particular setup i think it's a safe solution.
Thanks, glad you like the vid. I hope to do more sabers in the future.
Great video, KiDjowac... I like how you show all of the tinning, soldering and so forth. People really need this kind of video when they are first learning.
You *might* actually make this a response to my 4-part CF wiring guide, as it is along the same lines in terms of showing how to wire up a saber from A to Z (as best as possible for a short video).
Good idea, maybe i'll do a follow up where i show this saber in more detail and post that as a video response to your "Novastar's Video Response Challenge #3 (UltraSound Driven)" video.
How much does it cos to make one?

@iPlayHammerDulcimer Hi, the smaller the angle of the optics, the better. Get the 5° spot lens.
