I have seen up to three players in full time playing zone defense to be able to cover Kovalev. He just needs players aside of him which he cruely lacks in here. And, the pts streak happened when he played with a good player: Tanguay.

This just showed that this defensive adjustement creates open ice for players and it's not useful when there's none to pass to

Datsyuk has a good reason he was drafted so low. The Red Wings scout that found him, found him where nobody was looking. Nobody else had scouted him, and he wasn't even going to be drafted.

The Red Wings didn't have to use a high pick on him. Pavel Datsyuk is a top 5 scorer in the NHL, look at all his Trophies every season. He's a #1 pick talent, the Red Wings got hugly lucky nobody knew about him.
