  • I didn't know they still use the imperial system on maps and compasses. All the ones I have used to date are in metric, even the ones used by US soldiers.

  • @ImagineTheSeaView Hi. Yes, it depends on the map and compass though. U.S. Geological Survey topo maps use English units (feet and inches), and many compasses sold in the U.S. have English scales (or English on one side and metric on the other). U.S. Military topographic maps are indeed metric and they use mils instead of degrees for compass units.
