Not for me the group thing, though it has many advantages. Oftentimes I wished for company, these are lonely and often dAngerous rides. I was stabbed once in Algeria. I take my hat off to all adventurers be they solo or group. The costs involved in organised tours is also prohibitive especially when all can be easily researched on the net, there are some excellent data sources out there
The prices for these organised tours are extremly high!
It is about 20.000+ USD (without poket money, insurance, tips!...) just to listen the "wise tips" of the guide and to facilitate obtaining diffrent visas... Stupid!
You can do it alone (or with a group of buddy-bikers) for not more than 4-5.000 USD....
All so called organised tours for bikers are just a rip off! For people who never really traveled and used the brain independentlly....
i've been riding for 4 years now. I'm going to complete some US and canada-mexico tours, and then one day I'll ride around the world from Lisbon to Boston going east, and I plan on following the silk road. But I'll need to save for a new bike because it would sure be difficult to get around the world on a Harley.
What do you expect! Overpriced organized tours are designed primarily for the white man. Riding with ten-plus other riders from the same cultural background? They call that global touring? LOL
You missed the point, why go organized at all? Going organized is what daily life is about...boring. Furthermore, doing it on your own gives you a sense of accomplishment and you meet more people. You go your way...I'll go mine. LOL
@HorizonsUnlimited I agree totally with your view on organised tours. I went to the globerider website & learn that they also stay in 4 star accomodation where possible, this also is for ALL their tours. I've read too much now on the internet about others that can and have, or are currently doing it alone & unassisted.
so great experience ...good & great tour for all of the biker whop jointed this trip.
your experiences that be conversed to the '' book '' .

I think is very dangerous traveling through the silk road! There are a lot of nomads around that area and some of them eat human meat. Be careful!!!!

looks like the trip was hard on the tires, air filters, etc. - how did you handle maintenance?

Lovely video and audio - shame the voiceover was so American.

HU - Why don't you organize a tour for the poor, colored-man and require a quota of cultural diversity?
Touring the globe is independent of a person's ethnic, national or cultural background.
