  • Splendide!!! Magnifico!! Giacomini is for me the greatest dramatic tenor of all time.

    Thanks for sharing

    pierre

  • He's fantastic, unfortunately singing in front of a pretty ignorant crowd.

  • Just to see him singing is a masterclass...

    Bravissimo! Master Giacomini

    Pierre

  • Grazie a te dell'apprezzamento carissimo.

  • @AleBro83

    è un basso!

    FANTASTICO MAESTRO GIACOMINI!!!!!

  • wow. such an unusual approach to the tenor voice, but there is no denying this man was/is a true artist of the highest caliber.

  • Sorry, 59.

    Still!

  • My god he was 69!!!!

I can't think of another tenor, frankly, that still displayed such control and sharpness in his voice at such an age!

  • @KissaMyEyes The greatest example of retaining the youthful freshness in his voice through superb technique & husbanding his vocal resources, was perhaps Tamagno, at least as far as the tenors go. At 54, & dying of angina pectoris, his voice still sounded like a 20 year old making his debut. Quite incredible, considering that he only sang the heaviest roles in the tenor repertoire. For basses, it must be Mark Reizen, who still sounded magnificent on stage at 90!

  • @KissaMyEyes Giacomo Lauri-Volpi and a few others too (hiyadroogs is referring to), but these are rather the exceptions that prove the rule. It goes without saying, that all of them had an excellent training and exceptionally good physical condition.
