While I commend home birth mothers, I actually had a wonderful hospital birth experience. I arrived at 4cm dialation, and at my request was administered an epidural. This allowed me to avoid a panic attack from the pain. after 14 hours of sleeping during a painless labor I awoke and 'labored down'. Once I was ready to push I was given an episotomy, 3rd degree, and pushed 11 times. My son was born, thankfully NICU was there.
Totally agree with this vid! Had my first at a hospital...not the best experience, too up-tight, then decided to have my 2nd at home..what a difference...so relaxed and the midwives were brill.(they were actually watching Lord Of The Rings with my Husband) whilst i was 10 cms and having very heavy contracitons lol...and they left 2 hours after the birth...a magical experience..would definatly do it again.
I thought that video was brilliant i have two children now and i've always belived if you can natural is the best i feel so sorry for babies being pulled out and having tubes shoved down there throats when it's not really nessary.
hoping for a homebirth for the second dear child...no machines, no pitoSIN, no intervention. just good, old fashioned, birthing as it has been done since the start of, well, birth! We're all here, the greatest proof it works!!! Glad to have midwives, nurses, and yes, docs, but hope to not see you this time. Thanks for the vid!!! may all beings be free!!!
I'm definately going to have a homebirth when I get pregnant one day - no questions. I will be able to do it too because I trust my body, keep it healthy and treat it with RESPECT! I can hardly wait!
Awesome video: Women need to started opening their eyes and make INFORMED choices regarding their births, Dr's can't be trusted to give us UNBIASED information: after all they have thier profit margins to think about.
i dont have enough gutts to do a home birth. i have had complications with my previous 2 children. my 1st was natural with no drugs. my second i got an epidoral (i had no choice). but home birth really does seem the way to go if possible.
@smo200 There's nothing wrong with that. Like I told my best friend, I would never tell a woman how to have her baby..." The thing I DON'T take kindly to is when a woman IS told how to have her baby! However you have anymore, I just hope it goes as smoothly for you even if it IS in a hospital. I understand many have. My brother was born without a hitch after at least 3 miscarriages. : )
That's utterly true. Around 3-5% of women might actually need surgery to birth but that doesn't account for why over 30% of us are being sliced up in Australian hospitals.
Please get real information before birthing, don't just listen to surgeons.
@notthemorrigan ...or American hospitals, for that matter. Thankfully I've got a couple very activist friends, one of whom only had to go to the hospital because of the baby being positioned wrong and she only felt pain the last few minutes she told me. Maybe I'll fly up to Washington my last 3 months if and whenever I have my own!
I had a tramatic hospital birth with my first son and a waterbirth with my second, and my waterbirh was amazing without drugs!! To me it seems like the hospital is more likely to cause problems with all of thier interventions and monitering. It's so unnecissary! Babies being born should not be concidered a medical emergancy but a normal, beautiful, and sacred event to be shared with family at home. I love this video, I hope it inspires mama's to TRUST BIRTH and enjoy giving birth.
I would have my baby at home but my husband dosen't want to because my son had to be brought to the nicu right after he was born. he is worried if there are complications that we wont make it to the hospital intime
The thing I am most looking forward to, when I have my first baby at home in about 4 months, is being able to snuggle up with my husband and tiny baby in my own bed that night! That's how a family should start their life together.
Birthing at home: labour starts, potter around for a bit, labour ramps up, hop in the birth pool/bath, give birth, tuck up into your comfy bed cuddling your newborn and partner. Why would you want anything else??
Brilliant! After having my uterus sliced open for my first 'birth' and then a beautiful waterbirth at home for my second, I know the choice is easy. GO HOMEBIRTH!
your pictures are worth a thousand words.
Which would your baby choose?
