  • Hermoso!

  • very nice

  • Beautiful! :)

  • o.0 it took me 3:51 seconds to figure out how many strings he has O.0

    haha 5/5?

  • Congratulations Mr.Anrea Damiani! I like your technique!

  • This is also part of a cello suite in C minor, but it sounds very different. I like how different instruments have different capabilities.

  • creepy old man playing creepy lute .. XD

  • jaw dropping. it is talent like this that puts the world in perspective

  • and don't forget he wrote the book. No really: Method for Renaissance Lute, Ut Orpheus Editions, 1999.

  • Una interpretación maravillosa. Enhorabuena!

  • Ciao Andrea, sicuramente non ti ricordi di me, negli anni '80 ci siamo incrociati un paio di volte, io ero un allievo di Federico Marincola. Una curiosità: chi ha costruito questo liuto?

  • wow.. much of taken so much time/effort/practice...he barely look at his lute

  • well it takes alot of skill!

  • Absolutely superb!

  • Like a dream wonderful.

  • That's one awesome instrument. Beautiful music too.

  • Amazing.........)

  • Beatifull sound and interpretation. Bravo!!!

  • Molto bello! Chao, from America!

  • assolutamente sublime !!

  • good music by the way this is my favorite peice of bach like so many others

  • Andrea MAY have made a mistake r.e. nixonie comments about the length of notes; OR like many in the Baroque era, he felt at liberty to 'interpret' on the spur of the moment.

  • Beautiful.

  • genius performance

  • I love only classical music, even though everyone my age (middle schoolers) hate it! I love old instruments, and, being a classical pianist (not accomplished, of course, but striving there), I love pure emotion in the music I listen to. I think that when you play a piece, show your humanity. Show your emotions, but at the same time be as precise as you can be.

  • This piece made me cry, just because it's Bach...

  • not very precisely played and also not particularly mentionable expression but still interesting...

  • In what way is Mr. Damiani's playing "not precise"? Additionally, I assume you are taking issue with the musical expression and not the performer's facial expression. If so, I think the expression was appropriate for Bach. Too many YouTubists discount performances for lacking an elevated display of emotion. However, I think it's a mistake to interpret an historical piece such as this in a romantic way. That's my opinion, but I enjoyed the performance for remaining true to its context.

  • for example, not all of the notes are played in its intended length, particularly bass tones on upper strings and in faster parts on higher tones some strings just stay ringing which is wrong, not perfectly clean with the left hand which is a must imho...

  • also, your assumption is wrong i do not take facial expression as relevant to any musical performance although i hate when musicians over-dramatize...

  • It is hard to believe that people listen to rap when there is such beautiful music as this.

  • Buddy I do listen to rap and I do listen to classical music...^^

  • this music is so relaxing n awesome but i listen metal!!!xD

  • you can listen to both...

  • didnt i say smthn different??

  • yes well the way you phrased that made it sound as if you couldnt really admit to liking this or listen to this for an extended period of time due to your 'loyalties' to listening to just metal.

  • k i surrender...

  • haha he got you bad bitch

  • Me too. Lots of extreme metal goes well with classical, listen to the albums "The Somberlain" and "Storm of The Light's Bane" by Dissection (Especially the songs Feathers Fell, Crimson Towers and Into Infinite Obscurity).

Classial and metal are both such great styles of music =]

  • It's baroque.

  • @Shilohbanjoman Amen to that.

  • @Shilohbanjoman you just haven't delved deep enough into the genre to find anything of meaning, of which there is plenty. Music doesn't have to be all about complexity; a lot of times the lyrics are meant to be the focus of the song, and there are tons of greatly poetic rap songs out there.

  • @donkeypoodle

I agree that it's not about complexity, but I disagree with you saying that there are poetic rap songs. Yes, there are, in fact, I like some rap.. but rarely are the songs of such beauty as this. There's a big difference between catchy, and a good song, and a beautiful one, and this counts as beautiful. :)

  • @Shilohbanjoman this is very lovely indeed. but not all hip hop music is absolute trash. just about 99.9% of what is played on the tv and radio. rap uses polyrhythm which can be complex and very interesting.

  • @Shilohbanjoman i listen to just about everything, including rap, metal, etc. I love the lute and classical guitar and Bach is my favorite composer. Just because you don't listen to rap or you think it doesn't takes skill to create rap doesn't mean it is garbage. Obviously you are partial to classical pieces and cannot appreciate other genres of music for they're creative purpose, which is expression and entertainment.

  • @Shilohbanjoman

Every sheep can say bach is great music but it asks a much more personal taste of music to distinguish the interisting music from the rubbish in a gengre like rap

  • @Koningshofbaan I listen...to.....many....gengres....?

Also, Rap music partakes of a different audience, and its appeal resides in the reuse of common memetic rhythm. If a song is famous, it backs a rap song, somewhere, somehow. Your tastes can never sense the true musical excellence of a good rap.

  • @Shilohbanjoman

    You're right.

  • @Shilohbanjoman Give me two months and I shall make a glorious Gavotte Rap for you.

  • Sir, this is the very best performance i've heard this far. I miei più sentiti complimenti.

  • La classe non è acqua! Fantastica versione di un brano difficile assai!!!

  • I´m studying the same piece at the moment.. Thank you for your inspiration, very nice!

  • You need to have a soul and a brain very special to ply Bach in the way that you do.

You did today a very special day for me.

    Thank you
