The only revolution happening in India right now is the takeover of anti-liberal Hindu nationalists. The Maoists are popular simply because the poor have no other champion in India today. Today a third of the entire world's poor live in India. There is much hype but little substance behind claims of both democracy and social progress in India.
@excitedsynapses I completely agree that the former government was much better. But naturally overtime, like American Congress, corruption grows. The Hindu Nationalists (assuming you mean BJP) are supported largely by Muslims and Sikhs because of its various members (i.e. Modi) of having commendable governing principles that put Gujarat in the centre of investment. Even though BJP is accused of doing minimal in preventing the riots, lots of Muslims of Gujarat voted them, the stats online. pt1

Maoists have grown considerably, though, but also mind that naturally there are numerous Indian NGO’s to accommodate. If you’ve taken a look at the effects of these programs, it’s quite admirable.
