I am a former Coalhouse Fort Project guide. There are no "tunnels" in Coalhouse Fort! All passageways in the magazines are at ground level with earth banked against the walls. The only underground feature is a water cistern beneath the parade ground.

Early during WW2 Boy Scouts operated a ships degausing check against magnetic mines. This was taken over by the Royal navy. There are no known WW2 casualties and the only shots in anger were at a German aircraft, from the Bofors gun.
