It is all in the genes of the parents. The puppy has a 50/50 shot of having either the coat of a golden or the coat of a poodle. If it has the coat of a golden, it will shed just like a golden and visaversa.

Also, people need to keep in mind that they aren't a breed. No matter what people say and want to believe. They are a mix because they can't breed true to themselves like the purebred breeds who have been breeding true for generations can.

@Kevbakugan Get him some chew toys and make sure you keep correcting him when he plays/chews something else. also make sure to exercise him daily - he may be chewing due to frustration.

I find these dogs absolutely beautiful and intelligent! In my opinion, they are the perfect family dog. Very gentle yet durable? Lol I can't describe it. One day, I will own one of these gorgeuos dogs :)

Cute as a button! I agree that you are saying commands WAY too much... You say it once and reward instantly.  He's too young to stay for any longer than a couple seconds. Doodles are so smart. We have one that trained in no time. Good job.

Intelligence of a poodle, and the closeness of a retriever - very much fun loving yet gentle, independent yet close to family, just all round fun - the best decision of our life! Cons: Hair needs to be brushed often to ensure no matting (no shedding with this breed though!)

@rsarukkai and they're hypoallergenic so they're a good match for people with allergies! also, they're good with kids wich is great if you have a family or want to have a family. doodles live 15+ years, too.

@rsarukkai and @nicelce19 - Hi, the problem with these new breeds is that it is still a crap shoot in terms of breed standards. Unlike a regular poodle or golden retriever, where you mate one with another and you pretty much know 100% what you are going to get, puggles and golden doddles, etc. still have a few mating generations to go before the desirable traits are there 100% of the time. But hey, it's a dog. it will be the best decision in your life! Good luck!!!

word of advice: only say commands once. do not repeat them. if you do, you train the dog to not listen to you the first time. that's what my dog trainer taught me and it worked like a charm. saved my voice and sanity too!

Well he's crossed with a poodle so not much :] we have a cavalier crossed with a poodle and he doesn't shred, poodle hydrids don't tend to, thats why they're good with allerdy sufferers.
