  • maxgerrar d, in Birmingham University Boat Club quad posted the following message on Kings school video, it is more appropriate in this section. "maybe you should work harder on recovering the eroded society you have in worcester. ie all the drunks and drug addicts who hang around by the river bank, the endless line of braindead chavs which litter your town with vandalism and cause the general public feel uneasy in the place in which they live. cont

  • max gerrard comment cont.

"these things need far more attention than a little bit of wash caused by a few launches. what [sic] not try and promote the great architecture and history of your town instead of staring at a river bank"

  • to Max Gerrard.

Re your questions. I have for some years helped two alcoholics and tried to reduce their negative impact to society, as well as some drug addicts, amongst much else in this field. I have also helped rescue several people out of the river, who have imbibed too much. One of the reasons people fall in the river and cannot get out is because Birmingham University erodes the riverbanks, making them vertical and dangerous. cont

  • to max gerrard cont.

History and architecture is not my specialism. It is quite bizarre and controlling that you suggest that I should seek to promote this, when one of my specialisms is the environment, at which I am highly qualified, and of course this is what I concentrate on with regard to the river, Worcesters biggest natural asset. The fact that you find this inconvenient to your selfish behaviour, and have difficulty expressing your feelings in a decent manner is of course regrettable.

  • maxgerrard posted the following message, unfortunately not on a Birmingham video. Therefore it is reproduced here and will be answered in due course,

"ure such a twat. find something better to dow with your time. im the one in the quad for university of birmingham. come speak to me about it and i will erode your face"

  • maxgerrard Sabrina2 here. You choose to come to Worcester from Birmingham University Boat Club. Your Birmingham University coach drives a vastly unsuitable Sea Strike boat far to fast, illegally causing a huge breaking wash. He refuses to stop or get a low wash boat, he lies that Worcester Waterway Users Forum gave him permission to do so, he causes damages to other boats and 8 miles of riverbank, ruins the water for other rowers. cont

  • to maxgerrard cont. He has been asked to slow down many times by many different people over many many months. He has been told by at least one rowing club that their rowers cannot row with that boat coaching on the river. You have personally abused me and threatened me in one message and slag off Worcester in this one. Many people would say that both your and Birmingham Universities Boat Club behaviour fits well within the yob and antisocial behaviour category. cont

  • to max gerrard cont. This also has a negative environmental and social impact on Worcester as well as externalising the economic cost of your activity onto the residents of Worcester.

What do you do for Worcester? What gives you the right to abuse the people of Worcester? Are there not social problems where you live and what are you doing to alleviate them? Do YOU do anything to alleviate the social problems of which you complain in Worcester? cont.

  • Isnt the reason for your little temper tantrum that I film your coach illegally causing a breaking wash as a witness to your illegal activities which you prefer people do not know about, and you know that exposure of your behaviour will inevitably bring it to an end.? You just dont get it. like the MPs and Kings School . LOVE and enlightenment.

  • My god. This is such a shit video. guess what, rowers get the worst deal out of everyone on the river, we're constantly getting other boats wash swamping us, and people lobbing rubbish in the river. If you have a better way of keeping up with a fast quad or 8 and not going into the £4000 realm then im sure theyd be happy to hear from you

  • hollandfocus. Rowers are vulnerable and get swamped with wash. Therefore do you think it sensible for rowing coaches to not only damage banks and other peoples property but swamp other peoples boats as well including rowers. If all people took the rowing coaches attitude of the law of the jungle instead of the law and boating codes, rowers would come off even worse. By damaging banks you also harm yourselves by making trees collapse in the river which rowers crash into!!

  • theriverguy2. oooh very exciting. Dubbing is accurate, actions translated into words. Unfortunately videos of the damage causers are necessary, so that people may still be able to enjoy the biodiversity in future. Tis a pity but we live in a world where some people ignorantly or arrogantly assume their activity is more important than anything else, when of course Birmingham University could use a low wash boat and get a responsible driver, and plant water margin plants to mitigate impact.

  • Theriverguy2. You make us laugh. You comment on a video showing inappropriate, unlawful, selfish, antisocial, antienvironmental, dangerous behaviour of the boyracer Birmingham coach and then one of your main points is the quality of the footage? V Sorry. Similarly if you attempt to be patronising, please take care not to use an "inadequete" dictionary yourself, urban or otherwise.

  • r&s cont..at bridges then you realise BW are not interested in taking their responsibilities seriously. They claim to have synchronous timing between locks but do little about it if anything, have recommended times between locks at the locks, but on noticeboards facing the towpath, even their patrols used to cause breaking washes. They still are trying to maintain the ignorant line about boat washes less significant than floods, but pressure building. They skilful at manipulating committees.

  • r&s It is the breaking washes that do the damage and they are illegal anyway. Just clamp down on those, dont think tax good idea. Not council responsibility as such but as large riparian owner they should be taking a lead in stopping breaking washes. True responsibility is British Waterways but...BW are really now a property company, less than 10% money comes from boats, which are just a pain to them. If you have seen the delays and arguments about clearing debris from navigable channel cont..

  • Unfortunately they appear to have bought this boat for 2007/8 season. They were not so much trouble before but they have increased their presence on the river at Worcester. The Sea Strike is the worst coaching boat on the river on this Diglis to Bevere section by far.

  • rowandskull Yes they are cheap(ish) but the cost of their use is externalised onto other boat owners, riparian owners the WorcesterShire County Council who have to keep repairing the Severn Way, as well as destroying the environment. I suspect that BUBC are one of the richer clubs about and if they cant afford a low wash boat then sorry but wait until they can. Environmentalists, riparian owners and boat owners have to pay to repair the damage Birmingham cause. Is that fair?

  • cont. Unfortunately individuals such as Bham Boy Racer not only give rowing coaches and rowing clubs a bad name, but degrade the environment and externalise the cost of their activity onto others. He was even more calculating than this though, because his whole argument revolved around that he was aware it was wrong but that he could get away with it on technicalities of law and obfuscation around various statutory authorities, to which he obviously added further layers of lies to continue.

  • sabrina2 response cont to rowandscull. WWUF response "No one from the Waterways Users Forum has given them permission to do anything, let alone permission for something the group has no right to give.."So the Birmingham Boat Club Coach (aka Bham Boy Racer) who very suspiciously refused to give his name, despite stating that he was paid to do coach, lied about this as well. I concur with your opinion that he lied about the lease on boathouse because he knew he was doing something wrong. cont

  • Sabrina2 here. Council response at worcestershire Water Users Forum: - "...and the lease to the Rowing club comes from RNIB college". Thus boy Racer lied. I apologise i took him on face value even though I asked him who on the council and he wouldnt or couldnt say. I knew he was lying about Worcestershire Water Users Forum, challenged him and he told me they were not represented directly but by other people. The response from WWUF follows cont.

  • rowandscull sorry .Think i pressed remove instead of reply on your comment apologising for making comment on blind school.

Will now have to reply further down thread.

  • rowandscull. Will reply more soon, but it appears you are not wrong, the coach gave inaccurate information. The question has then to be asked why? and why did he fabricate that he had permission from the Worcestershire Water Users Forum?

  • rowandscull. Just because other clubs use them doesnt make them suitable, and other clubs have different rivers and conditions. In fact many rowers think them vast unsuitable. It was never said they are solely responsible. Yes other cruisers do cause breaking washes, video on them soon, that is no excuse for others to do it as well. So what if they catching crew? use low wash boat. Why is he jinking around causing extra wash? because he is playing boy racer. He knows he is eroding bank.

  • Apologies. You may now comment on other video. The anonymous boy racer coach specifically stated that it was on lease from the council, similarly that Bham had permission from the Water Users Forum. Should we take him at face value or assume he is a liar? Well from now on ...

OK, so pay for part of the collapse, depending on how many breaking washes he has caused. After all we dont want to be unfair on these people who disregard the law, and how about everyone elses property?

  • They shouldnt be on river but the rowers are fast! 12 knots for rowing 8 (this was a 4 )we think, faster than coaches are allowed to go. The reason they "catch up" is because coach had to slow down for people that complain. Their strategy is noone will go to the expense of sueing and most people wont complain or know who to complain to, so play lipservice to those people who complain and then we can do what we want. Hence they speed up and cause more damage to riverbanks. Birmongham Uni logic!

  • If the coach was acting responsibly and simply catching up with their crew, there would be no need for this video.

It quite clearly shows them 1. Causing large breaking wash 2. Jinking about and zigzagging making wash worse 3. Driving over shallow, sloping bed of river near bank making wash worse 4. Driving around blind bend on the wrong side of the river.

Thus irresponsibly causing environmental damage and safety hazard. Boy racer is mild comment. Do you condone this behaviour sophiemorawiec?

  • boy racer???they're simply catching up with the crew they're coaching.Get the facts right before you post the insults, love
