  • i wish i had the privilege to dive and spearfish in those waters... im stuck in socal

  • Awesome video! I have been preparing to start spearfishing this spring or summer, but I'm glad to see that you take time to show the beauty of the sea as well.

By the way, what's the story with the octopus?

  • I did a shore dive with Kirby in SD once, pretty cool seeing you guys in your element.

  • awesome vid bro. would love to dive up there some day. dive safe

  • what is the species of seal that was there?

  • @ChicagoLongboarding

The first at 2:40 was a California sea lion (Zalophus californianus). The second at 3:46 was a Steller sea lion (Eumetopias jubatus).

  • @miodios thanks

  • Nice vid, you might want to be careful for white sharks.

  • u like ur jbl pole?

  • @Warbeast911

I like it for what it is, but would only recommend one to someone who is just getting into spearfishing and isn't sure that they will dive much, keep at it, or spear fish weighing over 10lbs. And in that case I would only recommend the 6ft one piece spear (the 3 piece bends). If you are wanting to get a spear that will last a lifetime, buy a Crist polespear. They cost a hundred bucks more, but hit like a ton of bricks, and are bomb proof. See my other videos for one in action.

  • @miodios

i dont like the idea of spearguns,

    just too easy

and looking around for some good polspear

i very like the sea stinger, but though i ask around about jbl stuff,

i have a look at ur crist.

  • even though they dont get big avg 10-15 inches, those little greenlings are so beautiful up close under water, if you get clear viz and see them in direct sun rays they are painted with tiny markings dots lines etc of bright colors all colors of rainbow, they are gorgeous (tasty too) but i want a small male and female in a huge salt tank theyre long lean gorgeous colored be good salt tank fish if could find some small ones id say trappin em at dark in the rocks in minnow trap youd get some

  • terrible music like come on bro.

  • I hadn't watched this video in a couple of months and I had forgotten how amazing it was. Your videos are an inspiration, man. Love it.

  • Awesome footage and Hunting/Diving skills as well!

  • what underwater camera did u use

  • beautiful video.

  • Great video.

  • @miodios lol

  • How do you like those omer fins? I am thinking about getting a pair.

  • I love the fact that you film more wildlife than you shoot. Very responsable spearo's like you is what we need more of. Amazing video as always. Safe diving

  • it s funny reading statements of 19year old kids which stopped their development by playing egoshooter the whole day, thinking their moral is the pinnacle. alienated from reality, stroked from mom, playing computer and munching stuff they don t care if it s veggie or not.

    @TheJackass200

don t u think killing online blunts or dazzles ur mind.

    my girl would say:

everybody should catch a fish one time for getting aware of the beautiness of nature respecting its grace even more..

  • Hey man interesting video, the quality of filming was pretty good. :)

What are those groupers you are shooting at? Where I stay stonefish like dem cause you instant pain and eventually paralyse you and may kill you, but I'm guessing not in Cali, right? haha of course you wouldn't be hunting them if they did I'd imagine! ;D Are they good to eat?

  • Very nice

Ya gotta love it when you have nice vis like that.

  • Suck a sweet video!!! just got back from my first ab dive and I'm stoked! Keep up the awesome filming.

  • @ TheJackass200

The film is titled freedive hunting californias north coast, clearly you didn't think it would be footage of petting sea hares.

PS the reason you are alive is because your ancestors were great hunters. Kirby and crew still maintain that tradition, in times when most are entirely sepparated from where their meals come from. We do not hunt because we a sadistic, we hunt for subsitence and a connection with the environment that unfortunately few still have.

    Peace.

  • @norcallovenature you lack both in situ fish identification skills and a basic understanding of video editing. and/or can't count. YOU should get a thumbs down (and you will!).

  • @AlsatianFever sure! good excuses. you should because you will get caught one of this days and that will be you REAL THUMBSDOWN from the fish.

  • @norcallovenature you should check out some of the "learn english" videos on yttjd's channel. And SERIOUSLY, learn to id/count your fish before you make outrageous accusations.

  • @TheJackass200 People like you are very interesting to say the least. You have been so disconnected from true reality that you no longer under stand the food process and the food chain. Those fish eat other animals just like the rest of us.The planet was created this way where all things eat each other which keeps the planet in a cycle where it can sustain it self. The planet works in cycles, that is ancient wisdom.Since you are so concerned about the fish look into genetically engineered salmon

  • @TheJackass200 While I respect the fact that you don't necessarily see humans as being inherently "better" than fish, and thus view the killing of fish on film as being akin to killing humans on film, you ignore the simple fact that, as a documentation of a certain subset of human behavior, this video is inherently valuable (that is, even if you don't find it to be beautiful). I would watch videos of people hunting people and eating them if YouTube would allow it . . .

  • @TheJackass200 try watching animals being butchered at slaugther houses all over the world.. that`s where the meat you buy in the groceries come from.unless you are vegan. at least it is in the wild where survival is an everyday game. just imagine after feeding and caring for your beloved animals and gaining their trust poof!!! you slaugther them.. sorry for my bad english. btw if you dont like it dont watch.

  • @TheJackass200-Im guessing your a Veg then, correct or no?What a strange point of view you have, but regardless I respect your personal feelings, well I can answer a question for you in regard to the benefit,he and others eat what they have speared-simple enough for even you to understand I hope, but to be honest I feel that to state killer like you have is not only uncalled for but also extremely childish, please grow up before leaving pathetic comments such as this, thanks so much

  • where is this spot its perfect.. did you have to boat out here or did you swim in from the shore?

  • I dunno how u guys can do that, I have a fear of being in ocean waters due to sharks. Plus even waters where if I am at the surface, and I can't see the floor I won't do it.

  • DUDE another job well done you really need to put all your clips togther and make a nor cal dvd I would buy 2 or 3 of them ! keep up the good work.

  • @mattmattison

Thanks for the compliment Matt....but for now all of my movies will be free to all. See you at the Triton X.

  • @miodios see you there ! what I was trying to say is you do good enough work it easly could be a dvd for sale rust me I appreciate it being free !

  • Nice work fellas! Wish I could've been there for those conditions. What's the story on that octopus?

  • I love the music, who is it?

  • @focusedinvegas Its Bonobo

  • sweet vids........I have family up in Fortuna and I want to try this....any sharks?

  • @focusedinvegas The area is supposed to be pretty sharky but in three years of living here, I've only seen one and it was after I got out of the water.

  • Damn! I wish this vis was still with us. Excellent video my friend!

  • Great editing, song, camera work and fish!
