I was borned in Bronx New YorK!

  • i am here because of Mad Men

  • thanks for posting this

  • Is some of this footage older than the 1950s or is it just a badly damaged print?

  • Hey, I want King Kong's bottle of Pepsi!

  • This is terrific and you are so right in your assessment

  • Today's corporations focus about the GLOBE, not improving the US to set apart from the rest, we've witness other nations grow in influence since this was taken. The 1950s was probably the peak of the US striving the be the best; since then, it sold out its American image to other nations, and now the US is depending on the rest of the world for our economy for probably the most since before the Civil War. The only positive is that it lessens chances for a World War.

  • This is 1956. "High Society" was playing at Radio City with Crosby, Sinatra, etc. that's how the year is determined

  • Thanks - then it was two years before Mom and dad had me!

  • Take a good look, USA when it was at its best, the real strong, tons of jobs, you have a future USA. All you needed was a high school diploma, get a job and stay there for 25 years, with free blue cross for life, you got raises because they wanted to keep you. You could plan your life years in advance. I want this USA ,1950;s style back again, what has happened to my USA! Nice movie, thanks for reminding me of what the USA was like, and for those to young to have been a part of it.

  • What I miss of this America? Job skills and loyalty to an employer were rewarded. In 1980 I went to my first career job and worked hard for 15 years - only to be kicked to the curb when they wanted to cut costs by hiring trainees - eventually killing the company by the way. That has been repeated 3 times in my career. This - the way skill and hard work has lost its value and all that matters is the office politics and low labor costs - this is what killed the American dream above all.
