In our country Argentina (exactly in Buenos Aires) a lot people pronunce the "y" like "sh"...ya=sha understand?well i have the hope that our movie: "HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL, EL DESAFIO(the battle)" will be amazing...

well .. let me see.. we.. pronounce the " ya" as a "ia".. the "yo" as a "io"....soo when we say "ja" its more like a "ha" . u know .... like a laught XD ... sooo the we use the J when we want to say ha he hi ho or hu... and the Y when we want to say ia ie io iu... idknow if u.. can understand me... XD

@mexiknb0i Nono, he means the varying pronunciation of the "y" sound in Spanish. There's no rules, I'm pretty sure its just a regional thing. Like an accent.

@mushroomelissa sometimes people say a hard 'y' which is what makes yo and ya, jo and ja.

There is no difference, the reason for the soft y after tu y .. is because y + io run into each other more smoothly than tu y jo, do you see?

But you can say either, and they normally change depending on the area you are in

@mushroomelissa In all spanish- speaking countries Y is pronounced as Y, but in Argentina the Y and LL are pronounced as SH.

The sound of the J in Spanish is not available in English. J in spanish is pronounced like the H in English. Eg: Hall, but more strong. In english J sound like SH in spanish. Eg: John.

In other spanish speaking countries say: Yo soy Juan, está lloviendo. We say Sho soy Juan, está shoviendo. Is the argentine accent. I do not speak english
