This is hilarious. Did the director even bother listening to the words? Seriously? For the line "I was at Brands Hatch in my imagination" there's a shot of a crash at Monaco. WTF?
Ozzy called it Blackmore Sabbath! But He said it was the best they did since he left. What a great band up until 1987 or so!!! whoever fronted them up until the headles cross crap.
the vid was stupid ,typical '80s but the song kix fuckin ass, what a killer tag team ian gillian of deep purple with sabbath they probably shoud've called themselves purple sabbath because they created a sound of their own here,i did'nt know bill ward was'nt there but it still kicked ass.
Yep, Iommi was the Sabs don't you think? The singers always get the glory, important to have a good front man of course but without the riffs and bass / drums section they'd sound the same as Leo Sayer or worse! Bee Gees singing NIB or Sweet Leaf anyone? Gixxer
oh its sabbath man, real sabbath is and will always be created by toni iommi, he kept the dream alive when ozzy sodded off and dio as well. gillan was a short stay but i thought they made some great pumping heavy music during that time. however im no tony martin fan....
Just called my local record store and had to have them order the Born Again CD for me.They didn't have it in stock and all I have it on is cassette :-(
What do I do? I have two college Bachelor's degrees and am 10 cerdits short of a Master's...and I'm only 23. And I've been in two bands and played guitar 6 years. I'm damn certain I make more money than you do in a year...even though I'm 15 years behind you. Not that any of that really matters, but you wanted to know. Regardless, none of that makes me necessarily smarter than you, but I am, so great for me.
Do you want the last word? Fine. It's yours. There's nothing more I can say because you can't too easily fix an idiot. So have fun with your 'itto bitty drum kit Junior.
Get out of that? Is that an insult? Seamen?? Those are sailors. You mean SEMEN. God you're dumb. If you're going to insult me, at least get the words right. Now all you've done is made yourself look like a moron. I'm not even sure why you're mad, I never said Glenn Hughes was a bad singer, I said he was bad for Sabbath. I think you're being angry over nothing. Perhaps a nap would put you in a better mood.
I remember this from my high school days. The release "Born Again" is actually a very good collection of songs that have their own sound and feel. I actually saw this lineup in concert, and Ill never forget the very day I bought the ticket was the day Reagan was shot.
I am a big fan of ozzy-era sabbath (and a moderate fan of Dio-era sabbath), and have always heard that this album is terrible. That may be true, but this song is really great (I am hearing it for the first time). I can understand not liking Ian's voice, but I don't mind it. Sounds like a good cross of purple and sabbath. Not for everyone, but by no means bad.
it would have been awesome to have had more sabbath with gillian i love ozzy noone compares to him and dio is a metal god but gillian and sabbath had something almost as equally special as the original line up i will love this song FOREVER
Don't you bother with this fool just laghing to my eyes haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
yes a radio edit of trashed (shorted version) was released. i have the 12 inch album single someone from a radio station gave me with zero the hero edit on side 2. its rare and didnt get any radio play really.
The video is cheesy in the way only 80s cheese can be. But I love it. Born Again was a nasty raw piece of work when everything sounded so weak and over-polished. Iommi rips on this.
Ian said once that he (Ian) was the worst singer Black Sabbath ever had. But IMO Gillan is much better singer than Ozzy, but Ozzy is (was?) the heart of Black Sabbath. Ian in DP is (was?) the best of the best.
Must have sucked having such shitty cars to drive while drinking your road pops because of living in the UK. I had big block Detroit iron to drive pissed and sometimes pile up back in the day!
This was a great era for Sabbath loved this show i got to see it twice once in Toledo ohio at the sports arena then again at Cobo hall in detroit Ians voice was dead on all the screams etc im looking at this concerts tour program as i type great memorys for sure!
The album features the vocals of Ian Gillan, former singer for Deep Purple, who joined the band in 1983 to replace departed vocalist Ronnie James Dio. Original Black Sabbath drummer Bill Ward returned to the band as a replacement for Vinny Appice, who had left with Dio to form the band Dio, but quit the band right before the 1983 tour. Ex-Electric Light Orchestra drummer Bev Bevan was hired to replace Ward on tour. That´s ok?
yeah n 1k -exactly correct (aka 'perfectly right')
..the thing about Ozzy was that although he's been making records for years now his voice was only considered an "Instrument" for a very short time.
On Black Sabbaths first album his vocals were one fourth of the thickest guitar/bass/drum tone ever heard to that point, his voice actually had a raspy baritone edge to it like a never before heard guitar tone(also found on this album).
Of course his voice was also very very cool on Parinoid...
...his vocals were so cool on that album ...I've seen some bold drunken bastards at kareeoke attempt Warpigs--as soon as the vocals start the entire bar is screaming them right along with him to the point of drowning him out.
Sadley this was pretty much it- a few ok parts here and there but even the other instruments kind of got weaker too, then again Vol.4 would have been incredible had the vocals been like the "first album" Ozzy (2 1/2 years earlier)...once he left puberty his voice stunk
Ozzy isnt a shitbag and he isnt the only singer for sabbath. ur looking at their 4th singer,im including dave walker, and this album, while it isnt their greatest, rocks. get over the fact that ozzy got fuckin fired it was 30 years ago. even he doesnt whine about it. Sabbath was gonna be a great band with or without ozzy. Ozzy, Dio, Gillan, Martin
This song kicks ass!! Why do I always hear people giving negative opinions about the Born Again album and tour? Why? It's one of their best albums! Ian Gillan + Black Sabbath = You can't go wrong!! Gillan RULES!!!
I Love this kick ass song! It was blaring out of the stereo on my 1978 Cordoba when I flipped it at 3 a.m. 20 years ago. Oh the I-Rone-EEEEEEEE AAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
I haven't seen this video in years, talk about a flashback. This particular track was my favorite off the Born Again album. This album had three out of four original members.
Also.. a bit of trivia.. look close.. there's a mini stone hendge in the set behind the band.. can anyone say spinal tap? LOL! After all, Spinal tap didn't make up ANYTHING! Every referene in that movie can be traced to a real band... LOL! Do your homework kids! LOL!
less we forget.. if not for the terrible machine shop accident that took Iommi's finger tips, he would never have been forced to drop tune to play which lead directly to the metal sound we all love today! Long live the Sabbath!!!!!
hey this had potential and some damn good riffs unfortunatly when ya try and replace legends like ozzy and dio well gillian has to take the back seat cause OZZY'S DRIVIN AND DIO'S RIDIN SHOTGUN heheheh
Born Again is probably Sabbath's darkest and heaviest album to date. Ian Gillan released another version of this song on his 'Gillan's Inn' album with Tony Iommi on guitar and Ian Paice on drums. It's a much cleaner mix but not as dark.
I thought Born Again was a decent album (Trashed being the best song), but I just heard a 1984 Worcester concert ("Gillan Tapes") when they were live and it sounds easily twice as good.
I think Ozzy Dio and Ian did the best. In my eyes none of them can do anything wrong anyway. Born Again is such an under-rated album. It makes me sad.
I took my girlfriend to see this line-up at Cobo Arena in Detroit, 1982 I think it was. Like seeing Sabbath and Deep Purple all wrapped into one! The stage show was outfuckingcold! A dwarf with devil horns and eyes that glowed red, climbing down off a Stonehenge megalith! Awesome!
You know... when i see a thing like this i don't know if it's really a HeadBanger who born with passion for Heavy Metal or if is bands like this who keep us passion... Just Amazing... i want to feel this passion i feel for Heavy Metal til the end of my days...
sabbath kicked so much ass after ozzy left

Awesome!
