really great performance...a couple of notes, from one harpist to another...

Your arms were really low, the right arm was even touching the soundboard a lot. Even for the Grandjany method, that's pretty low. Also, because of that, your left thumb was pretty low, although your right thumb looked ok. And, I don't know, maybe this is just me, but usually putting your hand on the soundboard signifies the end of the piece, I don't think I would do it in the middle of the piece...

Actually, yeah. Every professional I've ever seen play live has either bit their lip or clenched their teeth. It's the same principal that makes pianists and guitar shredders frown and poke out their chin. Your muscles selectively tense differently depending on body position in order to enhance your fast-twitch muscle response. The person has to divert their attention from the instrument to their kinesthetic awareness in order to stop it, which is entirely counter-productive.

I just came to the profound conclusion that overall harp is a superior instrument to classic guitar. It's got the voicing, the volume, and the broader repertoire I assume.

She plays this piece well but her technique could be a little better. Her right arm is always on the sound board! I don't know about you but i was always taught that you weren't supposed to do that. Other than that, very good!

there are two different techniques to playing a harp - one with your right wrist on the sound board - one without!!!

I assume, then, that you were taught using the Salzedo method? Up until Salzedo, that was the only way taught. Salzedo began to have pain in his shoulder and back, so lifted his hand off of the soundboard when playing, and found that this relieved the problem. Before that, proper technique was to have the arm on the soundboard. Hope this helps!

Well, Mo9nydcontcry, I started playing because of a harp program in my school district. Its easy to start, all you have to do is find a harp teacher in your area. And not all harps are expensive, as most people seem to think. Pedal harps are a bit pricey, but you can get a perfectly good lever harp much much cheaper (plus they're a whole lot lighter). I got my lever harp for $3000. You could also rent a harp. Hope that helps! :)
