With enough we can have a public vote that allows US to vote to legalize and end this pointless war on drugs. We have to do this ourselves the politicians in office will never do it for us.

After speaking with medical cannabis users, they all agree that the first thing that must be done to fix the damage being done DAILY by the "drug war" in Canada, is to get the US to drop their drug war policy.

The US nearly went to war against Canada when Jean Chretien announced that Canada was on track towards legalizing cannabis, and since that time, things have stagnated or gotten worse.

Bill C-6 and Bill C-15 are moving Canada in the worst possible direction, and need to be stopped NOW

DRUG PROHIBITION DOES NOT WORK.

Drug prohibition is supposed to be about HARM reduction, but being convicted of a drug crime is more likely to lead to a life of ruin, as jobs are not applied for, or are applied for and not given due to background checks and criminal records. The families that might have been supported by those jobs, are left unemployed or underemployed, and drugs are often turned to for relief. Prohibition is a downward spiral. TRUE Education, Treatment and Purity are a must

This is a very intelligent, pragmatic point of view. This alone is LEAP's greatest strength.

Drug laws cannot be enforced, and are a tremendous waste of society's time & money. The science just doesn't back up the severity of punishments dealt, especially when such dangerous, toxic and carcinogenic substances (alcohol & tobacco) are perfectly legal & regulated.

Humans have used mind-altering substances since the dawn of our species, and this will always be. The best we can do is educate.

I disagree, to a point. The discussion MUST be carried on in Canada, and Canada must separate itself from the politics of the US war/propaganda machine. When and if this occurs, it will force news coverage, which will then force intelligent thought within the US borders.

That won't SOLVE the problems, but will open the doors towards the US making strides towards solutions...and the removal of prohibition does, as you say, need to come from within the US to fix the global problem they made.

Polls done in the USA said that over 50% of the people were FOR legalizing pot. Not MEDICAL pot, but personal use of pot. Look at the case of Mark Emery. The US went to Canada and took away their sovereignty just so they could extradite Emery to try him for selling pot seeds. He is now a Political Prisoner cause the Govt wants to stop the money he gives to US groups who WANT to end prohibition. One senator said they stop Emery, they stop the money flow and they get to keep their prohibition.

It is my position that cannabis/hemp be legalized across the board, for ALL farmers and ALL responsible adults, whether they use it for recreational or medical use.

If a tax must be created, that we use those taxes on RECREATIONAL SALES ONLY to supply our medical users with FREE medical cannabis prescriptions. In this way, we will lower medical costs, police costs, court costs, legal fees, prison expenses, while re-creating a perfectly viable and legitimately taxable industry.

About 30 years back when I was in high school, I knew all the people I needed to talk to to get anything that I wanted to get.

It just so happened that I wasn't into drugs or guns or stolen stereos, et cetera, so I never made use of those people.

Today, every student in every school also knows who to talk to to get whatever they want...but society is different, and people aren't taught how to think for themselves, and intelligence is frown upon.
