he surely is pretty mean on the electric, but still I prefer him on the acoustic. All his nice percussive effects isn't really any use on the electric
hurray..he is back with "electric power" :) ?? can not wait to see him like this live again .....just watched this "XY" years older version...same feeling.....amazing....
@heycolslaw alot of people like the sound of the back pickup, the treble pickup, it has a certain western kind of sharp tone what a strat doesnt have, and that is maybe why
While this performance is excellent (and I'm privileged to see it), I think that the electric guitar restrains Tommy from showing his greater talent on the acoustic guitar. It's not that the electric performance is flawed; it's that the feeling and proficiency is much more obvious on the acoustic guitar. I can't get enough of this wonderfully tallented musician.
HOLY ROCK AND ROLL! This is a rare-bird video... THANKS, Gina for posting it... Has there ever been a more versatile guitarist in the history of the instrument? I can think of no-one who can play more styles, both acoustically, electric-acoustically, and electrically... For God's sake, I think TE has a power cord running out of his keister and he just plugs himself into the wall at night for a recharge! May God keep him here forever -- take care of that guy, Gina! :-) PEACE from bigdood!
You may! Jan has always been-by American standards as I live in NY-way way overlooked. Always lightning fast but proficiently inventive, I wish he had a greater legacy than just his years with Focus. His solo efforts and collaborations are impressive to say the least. Europe knows him better than we do. Amazing musician.
It seems common nowadays for a performer to reach a peak, and then their career either just fades out or they get involved in some big drug, alcohol, or sex scandal....it's so cool how Tommy Emmanuel has defied that trend and remains in the front of everyone's mind because of his guitar and performance talent and not for his antics on or off the stage!
i was at that concert damn he went off on the electric! thank you heaps for taping this. was worried i wouldn't get to see it again haha.. so thanks mate =]

Oh boy! A more mellow version than the other here on Gina's site...
but he still has it all...
in fact, for me this feels funkier and more expressive.
truly amazing...
