Yes, in the original story of "The Little Mermaid" written by Hans Christian Andersen, the mermaid dies because she can't kill her prince (she loves him too much to kill him!), so, when the sun comes up the next morning, the mermaid dies and turns into sea foam. Of course it's not in the Disney version. She also gets her tongue cut out by the witch, in exchange for human legs. In the Disney version, the witch only steals her voice.

It sucks that the prince didn't fall in love w/ the mermaid... =( The story made me cry! lol

You need to get away from the Disney version sometime and read the original story, hun. What I was talking about is in the original story of "The Little Mermaid" by Hans Christian Andersen. Google it sometime or go by your local library and ask if they have the book. I don't know how old you are, but you really need to get away from the TV and read more. lol The original TLM story is a classic!!!
