Not my nation but I wonder how the goverment would feel if all the anti war people said they dont want to pay for bullets to be used but not in there name. I havent described this well but hope you get the idead behind my meaning.
First, lets drug test Senate and the House, and state senators and reps too. I'll bet the percentage that are under the influence would be higher than those receiving unemployment and other assistance.
So only unemployed people take drugs? It's funny that they always target the users but not the BIG suppliers who are super rich and get away with it. The rich can get away w/ drugs MUCH easier too. I once read a book about coke addicts who get 30 yrs in jail, while the suppliers get sent to some nice ranch for a few years. especially since the GOP are so against the government getting into ppl's affairs. even if they are drug addicts, i still think they need assistance.
Everyone bitching about it are the ones needing tested. If you're living right then you don't need to worry over it. What you could lose your kids? A good parent would not have to worry about that. If you put drugs before your kids then its your fault. If they test the unemployed and welfair I bet you will see the biggest problem is in welfair.
Maybe we should cut all constitutional rights to them. From what I hear it's all about productivity With all the respect senator - how productive are you? You live of our tax money and the only thing you are "producing" is a pile of shit every day and new restriction. It's funny when you collect taxes from crime activities and other dirty business - money does not smell bad for you. I don't care what people do every day (it can be jerking off all day) - they are still equal .

Horrible idea. Orrin Hatch, when did you become so short sighted? If your going to drug test people, you better be willing to back them up with treatment for their addictions instead of throwing them out on the street to die.
I thought this state believed in the teachings of Jesus Christ!
this is just further perscecution of the poor and down trodden by hypocritical law makers in their blasted "drug" frenzy which has destroyed our civil rights more than any other policies combined - Let them go pee themselves right off a cliff! Utah leads the nation in downloaded porn, and LEGAL perscription drug overdoses, they are the biggest hypocrites of all! When less than one dime of every dollar spent on welfare actually goes to the needy, the poor again suffer!!!

YES for the love of god please drug test everyone on welfare for the sake of the children. it is not prejudice. non-custodial parents have every RIGHT to know that their children are in safe hands and not in drug addicts and deadbeats who abuse the system and put their children in danger.

This is a good idea in my opinion. I have seen to many people that squander welfare money, unemployment checks and food stamps because of habits like drinking and drugs. This only puts them into a reoccurring cycle that will keep them on all said plans.
using taxpayer money for drugs.. didn't they already paid their taxes for them to qualify for unemployment benefits anyway??
what about u Hatch.. shouldn't u be screened for drug abuse every time u open your mouth?
people who use drugs hardly apply for unemployment and they are most likely to get a job faster than those who play by the rules.
what u should be focusing on is Utahan HR departments discriminatory practices who most likely hires a drug edict than a clean person with accent/skills.
Then drug test ALL people who receive government money like your colleages in the Senate and Congress.
