  • Love this so much.

  • Peace , Love and Light!

  • Ive had the pleasure of working with this man! What an amazing , incredible and down to earth man!

  • Great to see John Hobbs at the piano

  • One of the great moments on this CD is Jimmy Webb & Glen Campbell singing together, after all these years. Fabulous!

  • Yowza...when you hear a new version of a song you're familiar with, and the new version is just as good or better than all the ones you heard before, it must be one HECK of a good song. I just realized this about all the songs highlighted on this album...so it's off to Amazon I go to buy the first cd I've bought in at least a couple years.

  • I grew up listening to Jimmy's songs, first introduced to me by Glen Campbell. They will always be a wonderful part of my childhood. I believe I'd like "Up, Up, and Away" to be played at my funeral (many, many years from now!). The 5th Dimension's recording still makes me feel like I'm six years old again.

  • Just got this CD in today. Will be sitting near the piano at a small venue where Jimmy Webb will be singing, playing his heart out. Hope he'll do my fav- "Still Within the Sound of My Voice." Wonderful video. Thank you!!!

  • This an absolutely wonderful CD. I am presently listening only to this in my car and singing along. jhp

  • The best, writing is words, music and arrangement, he is clearly the best at all 3 .

I am thank full for his gift.

  • There not enough money in this world to pay Mr Webb for the pleasure his music has given me.

  • Wonderful writer, wonderful album...God Bless You, Jim Webb!

  • Jimmy Webb is an amazing man and composer

  • A great interview of one of the greatest songwriters of all time, a living legend.

What a great concept for an album. Thanks so much for sharing this.

  • I wish Jimmy Webb was my next door neighbor, and we could have a drink and chat for awhile!!!!! : )

  • I need you more than want you... And I need you for all time.

Wow. It doesn't get better than that!

  • cool

  • Webb Fact: Jimmy Webb is the only artist to ever receive Grammy Awards for music, lyrics, and orchestration.

  • very interesting. It's always so interesting to know how a song writer gets his words, and what those words mean to them personally. a very awesome video. we are all human with similar circumstances, so yeah, people can relate. I'm always amazed at how creativity will strike next.

  • Love Cohen. Still, I have to agree with Maddoggy20055. Webb's hits will always stay with us in our hearts. I think of the artists who started with Webb and continue in the business after all these years. I also have to agree with guitarpick1 regarding Webb's "Wisdom/Charm/Humility/Musicianship". He is one song writer that is in various music halls that keeps touching hearts. I would be "Star-Struck" too. Truly study the music - he is in a class all of his own.

  • @staticpine True, Cohen doesn't write in as accessible way as does Webb. And I admire his humility... which Cohen seems to share in a different way. I was very moved by Webb's account of not being in control. Something else is happening. I agree that Webb is in a class by himself but at a point it is like comparing Yo Yo Ma to Pablo Casals... they are great and that is all there is to it. To put one above the other is an exercise that doesn't mean much.

  • @staticpine What Webb said about having a dry riverbed in your soul is so right on it leaves me speechless. I'm sure Leonard would agree. Thanks for this stimulating exchange.

  • @archtopbrownie I guess I'm a bit partial to Webb. I've been listening to his music since I was 6 years old and I'm now 52. Of course, you're right, there are other great artists and the best way to get a proper appreciation for one is to listen to them all. Buffy Sainte Marie is another of my favorites that can gently stroke your ear. "So you caught me it seems, off balance with a heart so full, of love and pretty dreams that two should share." - Take My Hand for Awhile

  • @staticpine Isn't it a blessing to have landed on the planet at the same place and time as so many great artists? I think history will chronicle much of this as "classical" music. Different from orchestra pieces but timeless in much the same way. Take care staticpine. Enjoyed.

  • @archtopbrownie You couldn't have said it better. We ARE truly blessed to have lived in this era. I'm just rediscovering all kinds of music I used to love. Just bought the CD and haven't stopped listening to it. Gives me goosebumps everytime.

  • I really wish that this guy was my Brother..just to hear what he says and writes...His Wisdom/Charm/Humility/Musicianship moves my `soul`...along with millions of people... all across the planet...I met him once.. and I`m still Star-Struck..!!

  • @guitarpicka1 Thanks for sending me over here for this informative video... yes, I have Jimmy's book "Tunesmith". What a great contribution to songwriting and what a nice tribute to singers. Jimmy has a great balance of talent and humility.

  • @archtopbrownie ..thanks for sending.!!.....loved his line about pouring the water in.......

great songs are true and honest sentiments strung together eloquently , mated with just the right chords....., great songs touch the masses, for years, decades, centuries......:-)...sounds like a good book too--will have to scrounge it up.

    Laurie

  • @cinderellalifestyle Check the book out before buying it. I found it good but very academic in a way. Not an easy read as I recall.

  • @archtopbrownie Lance...thank you so much for sharing this

  • Just go to YouTube.com and type in Joni Mitchell. Then type in Jimmy Webb. You'll see I'm right.

  • @staticpine And while you're at it you have to give a nod to Leonard Cohen.

  • Joni Mitchell? She's great. And it's just a matter of opinion, but she's no Jimmy Webb.

  • Jimmy is good....but to call him the "greatest musical poet of our time" is to have never heard Joni Mitchell (particularly 'Heijira').

  • Where is Thelma Houston?

  • The greatest musical poet of our time........

  • Great stuff. Jimmy will be in Santa Fe NM on November 20th at te Lensic Theatre Come on over and have a great night!

  • FIRST CLASS VIDEO FROM A FIRST CLASS SONGWRITER.

  • This video deserves a place in the history of Great American Songs. Thank you Jimmy for all the fond memories.

  • fantastic. i can't wait to buy it.

  • First time I've ever heard Jimmy speak. Very nice man and an equally sensitive soul. I couldn't imagine a better match-up between some of my favorite songs and it's author none-the-less my favorite singer in the world (and of all time).

  • Webb is an amazing crafter of intelligent, moving songs, layered and unique. He's had some excellent interpreters along the way--especially Ronstadt.

  • He is America's songwriter! With all of these guest stars, it is obvious that Jimmy Webb is respected and revered among his friends, the voices and songwriters of generations. I cannot wait to get this cd!
