EXACTLY! That was my point! Disney turned out the intro videos with the Kraken in it, promised it year in and year out, and yet... YOU'VE NEVER SEEN A KRAKEN... EVER.
Being I made this video over two years ago, whoever held their breath waiting for Disney to make good on the promise of the Kraken is long since dead.

i want Disney to just keep the Kraken by Raven's Cove or sonewhere and have a challenge every week like EITC Fleets or Navy Fleets and get a special reward like a Skull Chest or something better than a Royal Chest
Yes they promised us kraken. but they did update the lvl cap to 50. and i heard that they DID send out the prizes. My friend got his at least... But seriously adding something like the kraken which moves random tentacles and appears in random places would take a very long time. just give them some time, then go get your angry mob..
They raised the lvl cap. And they didn't send out the prizes. I heard they didn't send out the prizes until people called them. I know a number of people who didn't get them until they called.

@capndude999 I initially attacked this video because of all the rant about the Kraken, and I was extremely optimistic about PotCo. MOST of us believed that it would be submitted by the end of 2009... Yes that was the date they mentioned as the maximum time limit within which the monster was supposed to come. But then I realized that it was promised as long ago as... 2008? Idk, but I can tell you that they don't "need time". They've had enough time: I think the Kraken is done but not released.
Hope springs eternal. Instead of the game having coherent chapters (ever wonder why there is only ONE Treasure Map?) we have Cannon Defense, where pirates ask a Navy guard to man cannons in order to help the Navy sink pirate ships by the dozens to defend the townspeople's gold. But then we go out and sink the Navy treasure fleets.
We freed the Black Pearl, but its years later, and still we haven't a single clue why Jack Sparrow wanted it.
@bobbyjwoodruff Spreading one update over 3 months; & fishing took ONE WHOLE MONTH to hit live. Get what I'm getting at? They were STALLING. It's the ONE THING I hate about what they do with their updates! So, we all felt they were stalling for something BIG. Some really big. And when we were expecting 8 islands to release (check the Phase Files' models), only one island released. A story quest came, but as you pointed, there was no story quest. And to think of what they've promised to give us
They weren't stalling... they need to test things. In fact, they don't test enough, and things break badly when they move things to the mains. Recently, they did so little testing that Mac users couldn't log in for days. Now THAT isn't stalling, that's reckless irresponsible shooting from the hip.
There wasn't anything they were holding up. Right now, they are loading up MODULES to the main servers. The caves aren't finished but they are putting them online anyway.
Its not ALL Disneys fault its they lazy people that are running POTCO, that dont want to add stuff becuase they arent gonna get paid anymore than they already are therefore they arent gonna release any new content until the game loses members
Anyone remeber the green water in 2008 for the "soon coming sea monster"? Two years later no signs of it , there have been some improvments like lvl 50, and mastery of weapons increase but they are working on these things!! Proven with Raven's Cove its a second story chapter. I think they release say of these new features way before they even get it ready to be released. I am a tester and they definately released Raven's Cove to early to the public. They don't think things through long enough.
No story chapter... no second Treasure Map long promised. There's a quest for getting ONE weapon, and that's it! When you are at the quest's end, you must choose ONE of three sword offerings. Choose wisely, because if you want the broadsword but grab the sabre (they don't tell you what kind of sword you are picking) you never again get a chance to get the broadsword... you blew it, and that's that. Suck it up.
No trading to get something else... now wasn't that quest fun?
I thought I would explain the good and the bad of the most recent content additions.
The good: Raven's Cove (I know I know, it's not a cove, it is an island... shut up) is 3D like the original islands were before the Disney people came in and flattened all of them. I like the 3D atmosphere. I guess Disney finally figured out that the 3D islands were NOT creating a lag problem. (Other things in the game clearly are, but not due to 3D islands)
You can now level all skills to level 30, and the new level cap is now 50. They also said that in 2008 we would be able to name our own ships, that was never released.
disney and their little games suck.... they broke many promises, made fools of us, stole our money, and never gave it back. If any updates come to potco, it's just making the game more bs then it already is. The old potco, the challenging potco was better!
@ladiplecharry i agree with you. potco isnt fun anymore, with all the new weapons and potions and stuff like that. i liked the old potco, the old tortuga, the old port royal, and the old padres. and theyre adding fishing. what are we gonna do with fish?? i mean wth :( potco just isnt fun anymore... disney screwed the game up bigtime.
RIGHT ON! You have to wonder HOW anyone thinks what pirates do is to sit on a DOCK and FISH, or take out a fishing boat to fish. When they are on LAND, the last thing they want to do is to FISH, something they are forced to eat for months on end when our pirating.
How about the shore cannon game? Pirates LOOT ships and towns. Pirates don't defend towns FROM pirates or SINK ships full of loot! They board and CAPTURE their loot, not sink it to the bottom!

You don't think we agree. Of course after Pirates stole they sank a ship, if it wasn't already sinking when they boarded it. So you are saying that POTCO shouldn't shortcut the process and EVERY ship should be a flagship? I could go along with that as I think grappling is fun.
I was talking about shore cannons, not ships sinking ships. Shore cannons are guarded by NAVY. Why are we helping the Navy sink Pirates? That's what doesn't make sense to me.

hes right POTCO has disapointed me alot too they made alot of promises and they never complete them i mean i agree with this video i think POTCO isnt honest but around 2010 they complete these new promises and they make success
@skittybot Davy Jones should of been in the game sending the kraken out, or Davy is angered at jolly for a reason unknown but they can make one up if they just add him.
if they launched the expedition fleets, cant they have the money to make the damn kraken, or are they just letting us down and posting less important stuff. besides the carribean seas turned green because it was to celebrate st. patricks day, there might be a kraken coming to the game but since they dont want to spend there money dont count on it, ok

No LOL. Nobody told me. I just thought I'd gather up some info, and GUESSED that it was coming. Well you're actually right about them not keeping their deadline. I think the fleet thing might is kind of nice, but unfortunately i haven't made it to even an invasion (because im 12 hrs+ of PST). As Meph said, GMs rarely even appear to their events. I went for one (i woke up at 7am!!!) and no GM came. Right now my exams are on (again) and hopefully bythetime i come back, what i wanted will be there.
To people at Disney. No, the Kraken hasn't shown up yet, and the programming team at POTCO well knows many of their players aren't likely to see one any time soon either. That Kraken game? Works on your computer; and your programming team likely led you to believe all the paid POTCO users could play it. They can't. I can't. Well, unless I want to buy WindowsXP for Mac. The game not only won't play on a Mac, but I'm told Windows Vista and Windows 7 owners can't play it either.
DarkskullLegion finally got back to me in response to a private message I sent to him, with a long message in private to me.
He says he got the weapons coming in February from rumors he got from a website. I told him I believe they would do something along these lines, because there is a lot of existing code they could copy and modify, as we've seen new weapons before, so I expect these simpletons over at POTCO to do these first, LONG before we see a Kraken.
Anyone besides myself notice that DarkskullLegion is totally silent on how he KNOWS that new weapons are coming out this coming month?

Just so you know. I have heard dozens of these sorts of rumors online and virtually every one of them turns out to be false. I used to challenge people with a friendly gentlemen's bet about such and such content arriving in the game within the timeframe the person suggested, and I have yet to lose one of them.
Okay you put everything here right mate. Just that i dont care about whether the Kraken comes. I'm rather looking forward to the Invasions. Anyway next month's update is New Weapons and i prefer that to Sea Monsters/Kraken. True lvl caps were easy to put, but i love the new caves. The new isles too are good. I wish they do the same to forests, Cuba, etc. Well you should know, the Invasions follow the isle destruction, and will be the basis of the Next story. me be waitin' for any but the Kraken.
The old caves were unique, varied, and not all tunnels... in short, they were much more interesting than the caves we have now.
When POTCO promised the level increase, they told us a new weapon would come with it. Then they figured a way to increase the lvl cap without having to make a new weapon. Voila, >50 cap side effects
The old islands, like the caves, were MORE varied, MORE hilly, BETTER in every way.
You a Disney employee? Sounds like it. There's no weapons announcement even on TEST.
I know that some people don't know or care about the Leaderboards, but I do. Leaderboard also called Stats was a big deal for many guilds. The more enemies defeated and ships sank, the better your rank got. Our guild competed hard. And so did I for personal bragging rights. But the last few months, it has been down. No reason given. Today I have heard that they have no intentions on fixing it or using it. So all that hard work for the past year, was for nothing. Thanks for nothing Disney!!
I am selective on the posts I let pass, and POTCO isn't ALL bad, or I wouldn't pay for it, but the above issue I know is honest because I've heard others inside the game talk about this.
I've filtered out other posts, not because they were upbeat, but because they were less than honest.
On TEST, Disney posted "KNOWN ISSUES: NONE" at the startup screen. Little comments like that are an INSULT to seasoned players that are well aware of the many outstanding bugs we have to workaround every day.
THERE IS NO WAY A MAC USER COULD EVER HOPE TO PLAY THE SEPARATE KRAKEN GAME AND DISNEY KNOWS IT!
Worse, Disney is giving out a prize inside of POTCO that only the PC users can hope to get.
At present, the Kraken game doesn't even work with Windows 7!
Picture the kid who believes the message they see when they log into POTCO that if they go Unlimited, they can play the Kraken game, only to find out they were lied to. LIED TO. Disney KNOWS it doesn't work on a Mac, and is lying, for certain!
At the start of this year, I put my account in Basic Status until they fix many problems of the game. One very big problem for me and my guild was the Leaderboards which for the last 4 months have not worked. They say they know and are fixing it, but nothing.... And the only thing that is Kraken, is they gave Unlimited players a downloadable Kraken game where you play the Kraken. If you win, you get a tatoo code (oh boy). And gee, guess what, lots of problems playing it on Windows Vista & 7.
They fooled us TWICE! In March of 2008 they said it would be IN THE GAME by Jan 1, 2009.
In Marth of 2009, they said the Kraken would be IN THE GAME by Jan 1, 2010.
Many old-timers (almost none of them are left) when they heard Disney make the same promise at the same time of the year for exactly the same thing they promised the previous year, just rolled their eyes wondering if they should believe Disney THIS time. Same promise, broken TWICE!
What information specifically? The info in the video itself? Lived through it.
I don't know about the Kraken. Certainly the coding team they have now doesn't have the talent for producing it. But Disney let go the original team, and I believe the second team as well. Clearly, the people upstairs aren't technically skilled, and those that are presently coding this thing are constantly changing things that don't need changing, to make it look like they are busy, 90% for the worse...

The Kraken has been the biggest myth. Since the game's release, one of the ship's weapons says it is effective on SEA MONSTERS. When was the game released? Anybody remember back that far? Let me tell ya, few remember, because while Disney spent a year without doing any content additions, almost every old-timer left the game.
Those gold-named founders you see now? Many if not most are Disney employees and friends that weren't around at the founding. They lost the real founders long ago.
For those that keep pointing out the level cap has been raised, that is true.
For those that think Disney sent out the prizes to all the winners, they did not.
For those who believed Disney in March of 2008, that the Kraken would be a part of the game by the end of that year, you were duped.
For those who believed Disney in March of 2009 that the Kraken would be a part of the game by the end of THIS year.. well, they lied the previous year; I was suspicious they were lying this year as well.
You can probably thank me for that. I am a programmer and have long known that to raise that level cap was incredibly easy to implement. That is NOT the case with the Kraken. I pooled all the outstanding issues together because Disney sat on its hands, doing next to absolutely nothing for well over a year, and their promises were in print, inside the game, and they weren't delivering. I put a burr under their butt in hopes upper management would see this. I think they did.

A lot of code has been rewritten, and it was so bad, nobody wanted to navigate all the bugs on the TEST server. So what does Disney do? They port the mess to the main servers and now all of us are testers, like it or not.
But just like psychologists will tell you, negative attention is better than no attention. So this update with its numerous bugs has players researching new exploits.
I have played POTCO almost from the beginning, and I do agree with you about them not fulfilling their promisses. At the date of this post, they have just added ship updates and Jolly Roger invasion into Tortuga. Though the new levels are nice and Invasion is fun, I wonder if this is just a way of distracting us.
Whenever they do updates, the game takes months to fix the new bugs. Emails do no good. They are outsourced & generically answered. And we pay them for all these privilages. Sad.
As far as I understand it, because I found out more than I expected when I did research for this video, there were supposed to be more than one Treasure Map. (I know, that is obvious)
From what I discovered, it appearsed the Pearl Quest (Boss Battle) was to be the first. Jolly Roger was to be the second. And the Kraken was to be the third.
Think about how much better the Jolly Roger attack would be in that venue!
Well, Disney has its hands full with the new and extremely buggy update. They couldn't get many testers onto the test servers because it was so bad, so Disney decided, in its wisdom, to just move the mess to the main servers.
I suspect this will be a huge mistake, as seasoned players might end up leaving faster than new players arrive.
If there were a Kraken coming, we would be seeing something on test by now, so.. how does the saying go?:

Weapons now go to lvl 30, hmm i'm thinking cuz i played all of the disney games and i'm a high lvl on all of them, on wizard101 i'm lvl 50/50 on toontown i'm 119 laff points out of 137 and on pirates i'm lvl 38 out of 50, idk why but kraken must be pretty big if its taken like this many years, i know that if i was planning a game and doing some changes that i would be stressing over the fact of this addition to the game, its November 15, 2009 i'm writing this
Of course Disney knows it takes time. That's why in March 2008, they gave themselves until the end of December 2008 to implement it. But then, their promise proved false anyway given nine months to do so.
Then in March of this year, they made the exact same promise, that it would be here by the end of December 2009. That's ANOTHER nine months plus the few in between to make good.
I think Disney is going to break the same promise about the Kraken this year, or I would not have made the video.

I even called Disney to beg that they put up a better description of the time of attack that's better than AT ANY TIME, especially when you get a warning message every time you login or even TP anywhere that the attack is coming soon!!!

I seriously can't believe how people can be so impatient. you know how long it takes to even create a new character in a online game such as this? weeks. the Kraken is alot bigger than a person. there might be a possiblility that the kraken will come during this Jolly Roger inv. Disney said they'll release the kraken this year. Patience is vital here folks! The prizes given out do take time to process. Again i say, PATIENCE!!!!

But don't hold your breath on Disney keeping their word on the Kraken coming this year... they pulled that trick last year as I mentioned in the video.
they raised the caps, they brought in jolly roger, so far so good, but one thing to notice, they are asking us to report the same bugs over and over and still don't fix them. Therofore, they are asking us to do THEIR job FOR them, and we are their PAID costumers. Once you report a bug, don't report it ever again, to let them realize what they are doing, and don't do their job for them!

I don't hate Disney. I am trying to get them to be honest. They really did veer far from any semblance of professionalism when they didn't give out prizes. No company should ever do that. But you know it's such bad behavior that corporate execs, if they knew about it, would straighten it out, because no company wants the public to know about such bad behavior.

I'm not for revolution. This is what people NEED to do when you buy something, and the product doesn't live up to the promises made about it. It's called using free speech constructively. Walt would have approved.
That's how Disney has been doing it. If people complain, and ONLY if people complain, they send out the prize. That's bogus IMHO too. When they post a list of winners then do NOT send out the prizes, that's just unethical.
i hate how disney takes away all my weapons ships and skills after my unlimited runs out. i fucking baught it! hell i might as well spend 30 bucks and OWN a game that will give me gaming pleasure for years
MMORPGs are a different animal than that stand alone game you really can play for years.
If you want to see a single user pirate game with better graphics, buy Disney's first POTC, the one with Nathanial Hawk as your first person character. Then download the mods. The graphics are all eye candy & if you have ever been on the water for real, this game comes closest to the experience. It is PC only. The keyboard interface is horrible tho.
I loved it.. but MMORPG has the shared experience factor.
DISNEY is actually going to keep one of their promises. They are increasing the notoriety level. Though I know this is as simple as changing a program constant from 40 to 50, I want to give Disney credit for keeping to their word on this issue. Frankly, when I did this video, I didn't think they would do even this much.
Now if Disney gives out the prizes to all the game winners, and puts the long promised Kraken in the game, I will be more than pleased to take down this video, until then...
Assuming you didn't actually mean to say "the people is" I will still answer. Disney's target market for POTCO was ten-year-olds. Obviously, that is not the same thing as saying that all the players are ten years old.
Think of Harry Potter. Clearly those books were aimed for a similar market... Does that mean the people who read Harry Potter are 10 year olds?
Glad a new person chimed in on this. Yes, they have, and it is wonderful. As a programmer, I have known that to accomplish this, all that had to be done was change a few game constants; 10 minutes worth of code changes in all. I well knew that if they were going to do anything, which frankly, I doubted, they would raise the notoriety cap. To allow reps, they also had to change the weapons caps. So they changed some 25s to 30s, and one 40 to 50.
Not a loser? Correct. Concerned? Correct again. Games are always out and patched late? Really? I honestly would like you to name some games that have similarly not given out prizes, promised content with deadlines and missed them by over six months.
I honestly don't play other online games, so enlighten me... name a few, since according to you, games "are ALWAYS" like this. Enlighten me.
you should erase this vid all this isn't true anymore they are raising so we can lvl to 50 and weapons to 30 and they are fixing bugs and glitches and as everyone else said if no one reports the bugs it's not Disney's problem cause they don't know.
This video is WHY you are getting ANYTHING at all now! I realized that if the public realized how Disney wasn' sending prizes to contest winners, or putting content into the game (remember, their promised deadlines were untruths espoused by Disney) that they would get away doing nothing forever.
As to bug reports, are you actually saying that you haven't sent in any bug reports to Disney? or that you have and Disney fixed the ones you reported? and if you have, which ones?

I know how long it took. I reported it weeks before the SvS contest. Remember how many months it took AFTER the SvS contest before they fixed it? I do; it was the first bug I ever reported and that's why I remember so well.
ok , im not gonna lie , potco sucks , they ban just for glithces , they are too poor , the graphics suck the weapons suck , go play wow and enjoy it , itll be worth it , potco sucks !!
After they fix the SPEED GLITCH, there is the SINKING WHILE ON FLAGSHIP GLITCH which causes up to a dozen players at a time to be instantly kicked out of the game, or forced to log off to continue gameplay.
I checked the latest update on TEST and they still haven't fixed this.
AFTER they fix these really REALLY serious bugs, maybe THEN they can work on raising the level cap. They don't even have mediocre coders that can fix simple bugs. A Kraken.... LOL... dream on....

Disney doing a great job?? fixing the bugs???... sorry, but don't know what planet you live on but the bug list is growing, not diminishing. Yes, they fix some bugs here and there, but introduce more than they fix, so no, they are NOT doing a good job over there.

We all do workarounds on existing bugs and don't even think about it anymore... and the list is LOOOONG

EARTH to ladiplecharry... just checked on the TEST server -- sank three times on the flagship before I died. The bug is still there. IT IS NOT GONE!
Now about guilds. I think since so many good guilds have totally disappeared, I believe several now have actual Disney employees as Guild Masters so Disney can try to influence the players that the bugs are fixed. And I am quite sure Disney employees are giving false PLAYER feedback on the web to skew the curve in Disney's favor.
No, with each update, they introduce more bugs than they fix. That's why they have LOTS of things to take care of now. I don't think giving more time to bad programmers is the solution. The solution is hiring competent programmers (they cost a little more).
If they are working on the Kraken right now, they shouldn't be. They have a VERY serious outstanding bug in the SPEED GLITCH which has desperately needed fixing for weeks and weeks now. That glitch totally ruins PvP and SvS gameplay.

@capndude999 I initially attacked this video because of all the rant about the Kraken, and I was extremely optimistic about PotCo. MOST of us believed that it would be submitted by the end of 2009... Yes that was the date they mentioned as the maximum time limit within which the monster was supposed to come. But then I realized that it was promised as long ago as... 2008? Idk, but I can tell you that they don't "need time". They've had enough time: I think the Kraken is done but not released.

Hope springs eternal. Instead of the game having coherent chapters (ever wonder why there is only ONE Treasure Map?) we have Cannon Defense, where pirates ask a Navy guard to man cannons in order to help the Navy sink pirate ships by the dozens to defend the townspeople's gold. But then we go out and sink the Navy treasure fleets.
We freed the Black Pearl, but its years later, and still we haven't a single clue why Jack Sparrow wanted it.
Dead ends. Story line?

It's the ONE THING I hate about what they do with their updates! So, we all felt they were stalling for something BIG. Some really big. And when we were expecting 8 islands to release (check the Phase Files' models), only one island released. A story quest came, but as you pointed, there was no story quest. They weren't stalling... they need to test things. In fact, they don't test enough, and things break badly when they move things to the mains. Recently, they did so little testing that Mac users couldn't log in for days. Now THAT isn't stalling, that's reckless irresponsible shooting from the hip.
There wasn't anything they were holding up. Right now, they are loading up MODULES to the main servers. The caves aren't finished but they are putting them online anyway.

Anyone remeber the green water in 2008 for the "soon coming sea monster"? Two years later no signs of it , there have been some improvments like lvl 50, and mastery of weapons increase but they are working on these things!! Proven with Raven's Cove its a second story chapter. I think they release say of these new features way before they even get it ready to be released. I am a tester and they definately released Raven's Cove to early to the public. They don't think things through long enough.

The bad:
No story chapter... no second Treasure Map long promised. There's a quest for getting ONE weapon, and that's it! When you are at the quest's end, you must choose ONE of three sword offerings. Choose wisely, because if you want the broadsword but grab the sabre (they don't tell you what kind of sword you are picking) you never again get a chance to get the broadsword... you blew it, and that's that. Suck it up.
No trading to get something else... now wasn't that quest fun?

I thought I would explain the good and the bad of the most recent content additions.
The good: Raven's Cove (I know I know, it's not a cove, it is an island... shut up) is 3D like the original islands were before the Disney people came in and flattened all of them. I like the 3D atmosphere. I guess Disney finally figured out that the 3D islands were NOT creating a lag problem. (Other things in the game clearly are, but not due to 3D islands)
The sounds sound good. Very nice.

You can now level all skills to level 30, and the new level cap is now 50. They also said that in 2008 we would be able to name our own ships, that was never released.

RIGHT ON! You have to wonder HOW anyone thinks what pirates do is to sit on a DOCK and FISH, or take out a fishing boat to fish. When they are on LAND, the last thing they want to do is to FISH, something they are forced to eat for months on end when our pirating.
How about the shore cannon game? Pirates LOOT ships and towns. Pirates don't defend towns FROM pirates or SINK ships full of loot! They board and CAPTURE their loot, not sink it to the bottom!

You don't think we agree. Of course after Pirates stole they sank a ship, if it wasn't already sinking when they boarded it. So you are saying that POTCO shouldn't shortcut the process and EVERY ship should be a flagship? I could go along with that as I think grappling is fun.
I was talking about shore cannons, not ships sinking ships. Shore cannons are guarded by NAVY. Why are we helping the Navy sink Pirates? That's what doesn't make sense to me.

Okay, and this is typical. Somebody told DarkskullLegion (see messages below) in January that the weapons were coming in February.
Obviously he really thought they were coming.
I really don't blame him, but from here on out, you know he's going to take his source with a grain of salt, as he sort of stuck his neck out here for them, and got it cut off.
DarkskullLegion... if you like the game play itself, stay, but get used to disappointment on content deadlines.

No LOL. Nobody told me. I just thought I'd gather up some info, and GUESSED that it was coming. Well you're actually right about them not keeping their deadline. I think the fleet thing might is kind of nice, but unfortunately i haven't made it to even an invasion (because im 12 hrs+ of PST). As Meph said, GMs rarely even appear to their events. I went for one (i woke up at 7am!!!) and no GM came. Right now my exams are on (again) and hopefully bythetime i come back, what i wanted will be there.

To people at Disney. No, the Kraken hasn't shown up yet, and the programming team at POTCO well knows many of their players aren't likely to see one any time soon either. That Kraken game? Works on your computer; and your programming team likely led you to believe all the paid POTCO users could play it. They can't. I can't. Well, unless I want to buy WindowsXP for Mac. The game not only won't play on a Mac, but I'm told Windows Vista and Windows 7 owners can't play it either.

For the sake of fairness...
DarkskullLegion finally got back to me in response to a private message I sent to him, with a long message in private to me.
He says he got the weapons coming in February from rumors he got from a website. I told him I believe they would do something along these lines, because there is a lot of existing code they could copy and modify, as we've seen new weapons before, so I expect these simpletons over at POTCO to do these first, LONG before we see a Kraken.

Just so you know. I have heard dozens of these sorts of rumors online and virtually every one of them turns out to be false. I used to challenge people with a friendly gentlemen's bet about such and such content arriving in the game within the timeframe the person suggested, and I have yet to lose one of them.

Okay you put everything here right mate. Just that i dont care about whether the Kraken comes. I'm rather looking forward to the Invasions. Anyway next month's update is New Weapons and i prefer that to Sea Monsters/Kraken. True lvl caps were easy to put, but i love the new caves. The new isles too are good. I wish they do the same to forests, Cuba, etc. Well you should know, the Invasions follow the isle destruction, and will be the basis of the Next story. me be waitin' for any but the Kraken.

The old caves were unique, varied, and not all tunnels... in short, they were much more interesting than the caves we have now.
When POTCO promised the level increase, they told us a new weapon would come with it. Then they figured a way to increase the lvl cap without having to make a new weapon. Voila, >50 cap side effects
The old islands, like the caves, were MORE varied, MORE hilly, BETTER in every way.
You a Disney employee? Sounds like it. There's no weapons announcement even on TEST.

I know that some people don't know or care about the Leaderboards, but I do. Leaderboard also called Stats was a big deal for many guilds. The more enemies defeated and ships sank, the better your rank got. Our guild competed hard. And so did I for personal bragging rights. But the last few months, it has been down. No reason given. Today I have heard that they have no intentions on fixing it or using it. So all that hard work for the past year, was for nothing. Thanks for nothing Disney!!

I am selective on the posts I let pass, and POTCO isn't ALL bad, or I wouldn't pay for it, but the above issue I know is honest because I've heard others inside the game talk about this.
I've filtered out other posts, not because they were upbeat, but because they were less than honest.
On TEST, Disney posted "KNOWN ISSUES: NONE" at the startup screen. Little comments like that are an INSULT to seasoned players that are well aware of the many outstanding bugs we have to workaround every day.

Worse, Disney is giving out a prize inside of POTCO that only the PC users can hope to get.
At present, the Kraken game doesn't even work with Windows 7!
Picture the kid who believes the message they see when they log into POTCO that if they go Unlimited, they can play the Kraken game, only to find out they were lied to. LIED TO. Disney KNOWS it doesn't work on a Mac, and is lying, for certain!

At the start of this year, I put my account in Basic Status until they fix many problems of the game. One very big problem for me and my guild was the Leaderboards which for the last 4 months have not worked. They say they know and are fixing it, but nothing.... And the only thing that is Kraken, is they gave Unlimited players a downloadable Kraken game where you play the Kraken. If you win, you get a tatoo code (oh boy). And gee, guess what, lots of problems playing it on Windows Vista & 7.

They fooled us TWICE! In March of 2008 they said it would be IN THE GAME by Jan 1, 2009.
In Marth of 2009, they said the Kraken would be IN THE GAME by Jan 1, 2010.
Many old-timers (almost none of them are left) when they heard Disney make the same promise at the same time of the year for exactly the same thing they promised the previous year, just rolled their eyes wondering if they should believe Disney THIS time. Same promise, broken TWICE!

I don't know about the Kraken. Certainly the coding team they have now doesn't have the talent for producing it. But Disney let go the original team, and I believe the second team as well. Clearly, the people upstairs aren't technically skilled, and those that are presently coding this thing are constantly changing things that don't need changing, to make it look like they are busy, 90% for the worse...

The Kraken has been the biggest myth. Since the game's release, one of the ship's weapons says it is effective on SEA MONSTERS. When was the game released? Anybody remember back that far? Let me tell ya, few remember, because while Disney spent a year without doing any content additions, almost every old-timer left the game.
Those gold-named founders you see now? Many if not most are Disney employees and friends that weren't around at the founding. They lost the real founders long ago.

You can probably thank me for that. I am a programmer and have long known that to raise that level cap was incredibly easy to implement. That is NOT the case with the Kraken. I pooled all the outstanding issues together because Disney sat on its hands, doing next to absolutely nothing for well over a year, and their promises were in print, inside the game, and they weren't delivering. I put a burr under their butt in hopes upper management would see this. I think they did.

Really? I never saw a message like that. But I will take this opportunity to comment on the new update.
A lot of code has been rewritten, and it was so bad, nobody wanted to navigate all the bugs on the TEST server. So what does Disney do? They port the mess to the main servers and now all of us are testers, like it or not.
But just like psychologists will tell you, negative attention is better than no attention. So this update with its numerous bugs has players researching new exploits.

I have played POTCO almost from the beginning, and I do agree with you about them not fulfilling their promisses. At the date of this post, they have just added ship updates and Jolly Roger invasion into Tortuga. Though the new levels are nice and Invasion is fun, I wonder if this is just a way of distracting us.
Whenever they do updates, the game takes months to fix the new bugs. Emails do no good. They are outsourced & generically answered. And we pay them for all these privilages. Sad.

As far as I understand it, because I found out more than I expected when I did research for this video, there were supposed to be more than one Treasure Map. (I know, that is obvious)
From what I discovered, it appearsed the Pearl Quest (Boss Battle) was to be the first. Jolly Roger was to be the second. And the Kraken was to be the third.
Think about how much better the Jolly Roger attack would be in that venue!

Well, Disney has its hands full with the new and extremely buggy update. They couldn't get many testers onto the test servers because it was so bad, so Disney decided, in its wisdom, to just move the mess to the main servers.
I suspect this will be a huge mistake, as seasoned players might end up leaving faster than new players arrive.
If there were a Kraken coming, we would be seeing something on test by now, so.. how does the saying go?:
"nothing to see here"

Weapons now go to lvl 30, hmm i'm thinking cuz i played all of the disney games and i'm a high lvl on all of them, on wizard101 i'm lvl 50/50 on toontown i'm 119 laff points out of 137 and on pirates i'm lvl 38 out of 50, idk why but kraken must be pretty big if its taken like this many years, i know that if i was planning a game and doing some changes that i would be stressing over the fact of this addition to the game, its November 15, 2009 i'm writing this

Of course Disney knows it takes time. That's why in March 2008, they gave themselves until the end of December 2008 to implement it. But then, their promise proved false anyway given nine months to do so.
Then in March of this year, they made the exact same promise, that it would be here by the end of December 2009. That's ANOTHER nine months plus the few in between to make good.
I think Disney is going to break the same promise about the Kraken this year, or I would not have made the video.

Yup. I was wrong. I should have guessed they wouldn't act logically by cleaning up the bugs before adding new stuff. I've noticed crazy ship vibrations when trying to land on an island... someone said the waving causes problems.
Ever get a reply in email for a bug submission? Follow the link they give you for Known Issues. The KNOWN ISSUES LIST was last updated MAY 2008!! LOL
But that date is probably accurate as to the last time the programmers took their jobs at all seriously.

I seriously can't believe how people can be so impatient. you know how long it takes to even create a new character in a online game such as this? weeks. the Kraken is alot bigger than a person. there might be a possiblility that the kraken will come during this Jolly Roger inv. they raised the caps, they brought in jolly roger, so far so good, but one thing to notice, they are asking us to report the same bugs over and over and still don't fix them. Therofore, they are asking us to do THEIR job FOR them, and we are their PAID costumers. Once you report a bug, don't report it ever again, to let them realize what they are doing, and don't do their job for them!

I don't hate Disney. I am trying to get them to be honest. They really did veer far from any semblance of professionalism when they didn't give out prizes. No company should ever do that. But you know it's such bad behavior that corporate execs, if they knew about it, would straighten it out, because no company wants the public to know about such bad behavior.
I'm trying to get Disney, using shame as the appropriate tool, to make good. I don't hate them.

MMORPGs are a different animal than that stand alone game you really can play for years.
If you want to see a single user pirate game with better graphics, buy Disney's first POTC, the one with Nathanial Hawk as your first person character. Then download the mods. The graphics are all eye candy & if you have ever been on the water for real, this game comes closest to the experience. It is PC only. The keyboard interface is horrible tho.
I loved it.. but MMORPG has the shared experience factor.

DISNEY is actually going to keep one of their promises. They are increasing the notoriety level. Though I know this is as simple as changing a program constant from 40 to 50, I want to give Disney credit for keeping to their word on this issue. Frankly, when I did this video, I didn't think they would do even this much.
Now if Disney gives out the prizes to all the game winners, and puts the long promised Kraken in the game, I will be more than pleased to take down this video, until then...

Assuming you didn't actually mean to say "the people is" I will still answer. Disney's target market for POTCO was ten-year-olds. Obviously, that is not the same thing as saying that all the players are ten years old.
Think of Harry Potter. Clearly those books were aimed for a similar market... Does that mean the people who read Harry Potter are 10 year olds?

Glad a new person chimed in on this. Yes, they have, and it is wonderful. As a programmer, I have known that to accomplish this, all that had to be done was change a few game constants; 10 minutes worth of code changes in all. I well knew that if they were going to do anything, which frankly, I doubted, they would raise the notoriety cap. To allow reps, they also had to change the weapons caps. So they changed some 25s to 30s, and one 40 to 50.
But they don't deserve praise for that...

This video is WHY you are getting ANYTHING at all now! I realized that if the public realized how Disney wasn' sending prizes to contest winners, or putting content into the game (remember, their promised deadlines were untruths espoused by Disney) that they would get away doing nothing forever.
As to bug reports, are you actually saying that you haven't sent in any bug reports to Disney? or that you have and Disney fixed the ones you reported? and if you have, which ones?

And your sarcasm about having MORE stuff is even MORE appreciated. Of course they haven't added anything... they REMOVED the fantastic looking old caves with smaller rooms, as they did with the islands.... all to cut down their overhead on the servers...

I know how long it took. I reported it weeks before the SvS contest. Remember how many months it took AFTER the SvS contest before they fixed it? I do; it was the first bug I ever reported and that's why I remember so well.

After they fix the SPEED GLITCH, there is the SINKING WHILE ON FLAGSHIP GLITCH which causes up to a dozen players at a time to be instantly kicked out of the game, or forced to log off to continue gameplay.
I checked the latest update on TEST and they still haven't fixed this.
AFTER they fix these really REALLY serious bugs, maybe THEN they can work on raising the level cap. They don't even have mediocre coders that can fix simple bugs. A Kraken.... LOL... dream on....

Disney doing a great job?? fixing the bugs???... sorry, but don't know what planet you live on but the bug list is growing, not diminishing. Yes, they fix some bugs here and there, but introduce more than they fix, so no, they are NOT doing a good job over there.
I suppose you think having a crew forced offline isn't serious. That happens to at least 100 players daily.
We all do workarounds on existing bugs and don't even think about it anymore... and the list is LOOOONG

srry, but I don't think you understand that they have different ppl that fix the bugs, then with the updates, that way, they can work on everything at the same time. And the crew forced to go offline... the old way, when the flag sink.... it's gone, It kept happening to me, now it stopped, but I have a different problem, the last enemy becomes invincibles.... being stuck with 0 hp, that;s a problem that happens when u r the flag a bit too long. EARTH to ladiplecharry... just checked on the TEST server -- sank three times on the flagship before I died. The bug is still there. IT IS NOT GONE!
Now about guilds. I think since so many good guilds have totally disappeared, I believe several now have actual Disney employees as Guild Masters so Disney can try to influence the players that the bugs are fixed. And I am quite sure Disney employees are giving false PLAYER feedback on the web to skew the curve in Disney's favor.

No, with each update, they introduce more bugs than they fix. That's why they have LOTS of things to take care of now. I don't think giving more time to bad programmers is the solution. The solution is hiring competent programmers (they cost a little more).
If they are working on the Kraken right now, they shouldn't be. They have a VERY serious outstanding bug in the SPEED GLITCH which has desperately needed fixing for weeks and weeks now. That glitch totally ruins PvP and SvS gameplay.

If I had taken a chill pill, I'd be in cryogenic suspension, waiting to be revived when the Kraken arrives... I'd awaken and all my guildmates would have long since left POTCO, fed up with the insanely long wait.
