Its fucking common sense!, red light flashes continuously it means a train is coming....blame every idiot driver out there! don't blame the level crossings
fuck me people!!!! if the barriers are dropping and the lights are flashing, it means a train is near!!! a train cant swerve to get out the way so please dont do it!!!!!
They should not have to educate people into not running the risk. People I know with mental illnesses like down syndrome don't run the risk due to common sense. There is NO excuse for running the risk!
I am frequently made angry by reports that councillors or similar call on Network Rail or the industry in general to make improvements as the crossings are dangerous. When will people understand it is the foolish public or impatient car driver who use crossings illegally and flirt with death and disaster that need to be tackled. The railway almost always does its job despite all the obstacles put in front of it. A train does need an obstacle such as a car or pedestrian put in front of it either.
Can't fix stupidity, people still will try and beat the train even with education on the dangers of railway crossings. The gates shown here are much safer than what we have in the U.S., ours you can just drive right around them which you see people do all the time.
I know a Voyager can stop incredibly fast on E brakes but, not fast enough to avoid hitting an idiot thats decided to jump the lights/barriers!
Level crossings are perfectly safe as long as people don't try to become the recipient of a Darwin Award....
(Reminds me of the tragic story of a mother in the USA who tried to beat a freight train with her children in the back seat. - She would have beaten the one she was looking at but, got hit by the one coming from the other direction!
I thought this was in Britain until I found out that the Midlands are in Tasmania, which as most of us know, is in Australia.
I actually live in Australia, although I live in a mainland state called South Australia, which actually isn't the southermost state. (That would be Tasmania, of course.) I'm used to hearing accents which sound Cockney, but you know, slightly different. Yes, now I know that since Australia is such a large country, there are of course different accents.
@simpletimes222 Okay, well I'm sorry, it's just that there are several "midlands" in several countries, including England, the United States, Australia and Zimbabwe. For some reason, I assumed that this was the one in Tasmania.

I thought the human race was supposed to be an intelligent species? Hedgehogs etc. fair enough that they may need an underpass etc,

I'd rather have just a few moments of "traffic congestion" than to have to tell a Family that their loved one isn't coming home for tea.

Hmm it's not the speed that makes that trains cannot stop quickly... it's their mass

There is sufficient warning lights, barriers and those annoying sirens to warn people.
Yes I agree - education is the key.

@NeoFalcon69 How about common sense and intelligence? As far as I'm concerned it takes a real idiot to get hit by a train!!!

its not etwork rail's fault people have accidents there, its the pedestrians/driver's fault for deciding to cross!
