dude, did you get any problems to install fsx on windows 7?? im buying a new pc with 7 an i wanna get this game, but 7 isnt supported on the box, !! what do u advise me to do??
if you have high performance computer (specialy CPU) you can install sp2 too.
Big Difference between SP1 and SP2 is that on SP2 you have aircraft carriers and F-18 hornet fighter jets (it sucks) if you like fighter jets you should download f-14tomcat. and you also get on SP2 an rescue helicopter. thats pretty much it!
@TJae1 Well i have no problems i got all the updates everything that is 32bit has its own folder programs(x86) and run in 32 bit so its working very well
@TJae1 Well for me xp is the best i got good fps in fsx like average 40-50 with my dual core etc. You can see how i play at my channel. Its not to bad but i got a new pc with quad core and upgraded stuff and i get around 100- 50 frames at friday hourbour. So windows 7 is deff better then vista. Depends what you play. I hear 7 has helped everyone out with performance etc.
i just got a copy of windows 7. and i have fsx gold. can someone tell me which os has better graphics and frams??? on vista at max i get around 24 to 30 frames on clear weather. but on windows 7 will i get more frames??????????? please reply!!!!!!!
Yea win7 handles better then vista ever did. but theres more to "frames" then your os, for all anyone knows your video card bottle necked you at 24, you need to be more specific
maybe on the long term another graphical card. Don't think you'll be able to play everything on ultra high, but the game will run good on somethings ultra high and the others just high or sumthing
but i wasn't hating on anyone with windows xp. I like xp, i still have a boot of xp, all i said was windows 7 runs a bit better. I take that from my flight simulator x performance. But unfortunately theres a menu bug with fsx in windows 7 that hasn't been fixed. But boot up and fps in 7 is pretty damn good.
"Windows 7 beta wipes the floor with Vista... Shame on "you guys" for releasing Vista! Hmmmm... How about a free upgrade to Windows 7 Final for all us Vista licenses? ...seems fair?!! "
i love the ppl say windows 7 is good but they prolly haven't even tryied it out, i have e8400 cpu, 4850 video card, 4gb of 1066 ram, p5q mobo, and everything runs slow on it, can barely substain stable speed, 2.61gb of ram been used all the time, i canceled services and removed theme, so it looks like windows 98, vista 64bit sp2 outperforms windows 7 in my opinion benchmarked both, ...
The fact it uses a lot of ram is actually a good thing, it only uses it when nothing else uses it. Simple really, you start running FSX then the system uses less ram, allowing FSX to have more, this makes your machine quieter aswell as keeping your hard drive alive that much longer. Also I think if you have specs like that and stuff doesn't run fast you're doing it wrong. I use vista on an 8600m GT and a T7500 and it runs perfectly, and Windows 7 runs faster than that.
prolly drivers are not compatible with that os then, i did everything right, installed it followed every direction still nothing;/ again prolly something is not compatible with windows 7
Drivers play a big part in performance, but OS overhead also causes a performance hit. I have a Q6600, 4GB PC8500 and a GTX 275 and I still see about a 5-10% performance hit when going from XP Pro x64 to Vista Ultimate x64. Latest drivers and all updates.
It varies by game and application but its pretty safe to assume that I am going to see an FPS hit. I have yet to see anything in Vista outperform XP x64, that includes FSX in DX9 and DX10.
@ryanbrown321 I am saying that in Vista, FSX ran slower than XP x64 in both DX9 and DX10 modes, debunking the myth that DX10 on Vista actually brings performance improvements. I never said I ran DX10 on XP, though if I wanted to, there have been work arounds for getting DX10 on XP for a while now. Sorry for the confusion.
ah no prob. I understand what you are saying now. I have recently tried FSX and FSX Accel. on windows 7 but i have to run DX10 preview because if i dont my sound is distorted and i only get like 3-4 FPS and it damn near crashes when i try and pan the VC. When i turn on DX10 preview it only does it if i pan back and forth quickly. Any suggestions? Even tried running in XP compatability and Vista compatability. Also checked to run as Admin./ Drivers are also up to date
thanks for the info, i went ahead and did a complete re-install and now it works great. I also added the bufferpool line to the CFG file with a value of 700000. no more slight stuttering when panning the cockpit also set the texture bandwith to 80 i believe. I even got Tileproxy to work in windows 7 :) Thanks for the help flyer.
my performance in 7 seems to be a bit better than it was in XP. I have all my pcs running 7 RC. I'm blown away with how stable it is, and how well it performs. I actually like it more than XP, finally I can stop using that dinosaur. XPs good but its over man. Its 10 years old, wayyy too patched, and seems to fall apart requiring a reformat every 6 months.
it was 8 years old with the release of rc1 in feb 2001. Obviously I was rounding and exagerating a bit, but fuck, the decade is almost over. So my bad, I didn't have the exact date in front of me, but i was close enough. Yeah I was wrong, by 1 1/2 years roughly, or do you want it down to the day... or hour. Get a life and stfu. Win 7 is free, if you don't have it, it shows how lazy you are that you can't make some partition space or buy a hard drive.
and if you count windows 2000.. which xp is very much the same, shit xp was based off of 2000 and was released because 2000 didn't go over very well, much like the windows vista situation... well then yeah we are over 10 years.
of course it outperformes vista do you realy expected microsoft to do the same mistake in such a short period of time. it tool them 9 years to repeat it since windows Me.
to dx 10 now. its real what has been told about it. games running in dx 10 will run better than dx9
crysis did not have dx10 it was a marketing fiasco. so no, you wont have a boost. even if it had dx10 though you wouldnt had one. you see the dx10 mode must be an option itself. for example, you will have better performance in low graphics dx10 mode than you had in low graphics dx9. yes its propably true but not with crysis.
Actually, no one is even producing video cards specifically for DX11, cause thats just a beta version. Either way, anyone with DX10 cards will just have a free driver update to DX11.
what kind of gpu? the gpu makes a huge difference, and it kills ur fps if u have integraded graphics instead of discrete graphics (with a video crd and gpu on it)
Wow, I am actually suprised you downloaded this and tried it. Did all the drivers work? I bet you got some stuff that don't work. Windows 7 will be SOOO much better when it is actually released. I like the new windows explorer which is one big reason the performaces is so great in 7. I may try this since on one of my computer I have 7
Everything works unbelievably well! PMDG 747 installed and runs flawlessly. Tempted to migrate all of my addons from my Vista FSX Acceleration copy to Windows 7 beta!! I'll be dreaming about it tonight... I'll keep you y'all posted.
My other videos sliders all set to 50%. I dont know what happened with this lag but the fraps avi file has none. I'll see if I can figure out whats happening. Will post a PMDG vid tonight.
Not sure when the release date is. The only thing this beta release did not like, was my Creative soundcard. So I disabled and now use my onbard HD Realtek sound which Windows 7 beta gladly updated. Other than that... installing should be quick (less than 10min) and painless. I didnt install any motherboard drivers, just what windows update had for me. I am also dual booting and to tell you the truth, I don't even want to go back to my Vista FSX install to get all of my addons.
Nice.I went to microsoft and read about downloading Windows 7 Beta, cant wait to install. Any tips or faults that you have found yet? What the projected release date?

how do you get the dx10 box to appear in your graphics settings in fsx, I have windows 7.

It comes with dx9 but after you install service pack 1 and then 2 it will use dx10 or, like on my pc, dx11 what's installed by default.

Actually the performance in games has very little to do with the OS, it's more related to the drivers.

I've been having problems with this too. Add this to your FSX.CFG, and it may help. Windows 7 handles Graphics card RAM differently.
Try this:
[BufferPools]
PoolSize=100000000
That will give you 100MB of bufferpools.
Also try setting
"TEXTURE_BANDWIDTH_MULT"
and test setting it to 70, 80, 90, and 100.
