Dann Huff made Giant Big and Great, cause of guitar solos and great vocals and songwriting.. Without him Giant, became a mini-man... It's just became smaller and empty... :( Dann, come back..
The performances in this song are okay. Terry Brock has one of the great Rock voices. The problem here is the song writing. How many songs have we seen over the years sung to that same monotone drum beat?
Honest the God, this is the best release of 2010. Giant - Promise Land..a monster of an album by a... Christian band believe it or not, but if you don't like this, don't be an ass and judge them just on that basis, because the music is KILLER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
@pontiac360 I may not agree with the decision to use Terry as lead vocalist on a Giant album, but still Terry's a great singer and he has done a great job on the Strangeways albums that he has sang on.
@danhuff just want to hear more of your guitar work. Look we know how much of a pain on the ass it is to tour. Specially with a "new" band. We know you guys are not spring chickens anymore but we want to see you play live sometimes. You will get tired of your cushy "country" gig sooner or later. You must still have the desire to "burn" and when you can do it like you do it it's a shame not to share it live.
Alabama??? Dan...come on...Country ??? You were made to shred...or Smoulder !!..Time to burn...again..get front and center with G I A N T bro Dave..like old times..
I like it a lot! they did a great job..........very musical. I am very proud to have been a part of this band, but life sometimes heads you off in a different direction. That being said, I I wouldn't have traded a moment of it. Great playing and singing......I always loved this song. Way to go Dave and Mike!
Your right this the whole album rocks hard! Very easily the best album I've heard in years very polished, get it now! There's at least 5 songs better than Promise Land.
Your right this the whole album rocks hard! Very easily the best album I've heard in years, get it now! There's at least 5 songs better than Promise Land.
Giant has a new album, and I for one am thrilled! As a drummer and die-hard Giant fan myself, David Huff has had a huge influence on my playing. I like the new album, which I gladly PAID for! Yes, its a different band than the Giant we all knew and loved, but its still fantastic music. Terry has an amazing voice, and the musicianship as well as the producion quality are top notch. Don't get hung up on this being "Giant without Dann". Take it for what it is - a great band with great tunes!!
Terry was good when he was the lead singer of Strange-ways, but they could have gotten someone that can belt it out. This is nothing like Giant, not even close without Dan Huff.
Remember guys that Dann and David Huff where founding members of the Christian band Whiteheart and their father was a pastor so there is a reason that this song is so spiritual!
Giant had three Great albums, but Terry Brock was a bad choice, he does not have the voice as he did in Stangeways. This is a decent song, the only one worth listening too on the album
I am a Lyricist and I have an Ear for sound, but this fourth album sucked for Giant and once you change what people love, you change how they feel about you as an artist.
People want Giant, not this almost spiritual music, Bad move David.
Are you listening to your Fans, without us, you don't exist!
Days to go I have to say same words as You my friend; Giant is NOT GIANT without Dann. This song "Promise Land" is like old days Giant but all rest are...
I´ve been huge Giant fan about 20 years, please Dann show all Your fans something GIANT!
Not quite there, cant believe they are called Giant without Dan Huff. He is one of the best modern rock artists for many years, and leaves a hole in this band the size of size 7 earthquake.
Actually Dann Huff played on the opening track Believer (redux) and the last track Save Me and also helped to write most of the songs...I also heard that he really likes the album...It will be good if you guys have a closer listen ... :-)
Actually Dann Huff played on the opening track Believer (redux) and the last track Save Me and also helped to write most of the songs...I also heard that he really likes the album...It will be good if you guys have a closer listen ... :-)
Having been a huge fan of the previous three cd's Dan Huffa and the boys put out Im a little disappointed he's not in the lineup - This track is pretty good but they probably should have called the band something else, saying that they will rake in all the old giant fans to have a listen - so it may have been a commercial decision to nick the Giant franchise!
Just read some of the comments and went out and got the CD ne way. You know I thought it's pretty good, you sorta get the Dann Huff influence in there somewhere. It really grows on ya. I wish this band much success now and in future endeavors.
I've always been one of those that has said the SONG must come before the TALENT. What I mean is that if you hear a great SONG you'll remember it no matter who is singing it, but if the SONG isn't good it won't matter if you've got the best singer on the planet singing it- nobody will remember it.
Without Dann to "salvage" weaker material this album looks like it will be very forgettable. These guys are tremendous players but the song HAS to come first and it just didn't in this case.
Shame Dann Huff isn't there, but it's great to see Terry Brock take the mic. Adding in John Roth from Winger seals the deal for me! Can't wait to hear the rest of the album!
Tight energy, melody, lyrics and vocal. Damn great mix, hear all the instruments and vocal. Better than that screaming or whining crap out there. Hope they ignite a new trend. Way to go GIANT !
It's a decent song and I'll certainly buy the album but I'd be lying if I said I wasn't bummed to see Dann out of the band. He was the heart and soul of Giant and without him they just won't seem as "GIANT" to me anymore. I wish the new lineup alot of success though....I just wish they had called themselves something else because when I picture Giant they will always have Dann out front. Good luck guys. I wish you all the best!!
TOTALLY agree with your sentiments. Giant IS Dann Huff, and without him doesn't seem right. Having said that, this line up is definately a class act. Never heard of Brock before (I'll be checking him out though) but Roth is certainly a quality player. I am going to buy the album regardless, because they're GOOD!! K
@ksglfr Agreed. I mean, I loved the album. I thought it was great, but Giant without Dann Huff is like Van Halen without Eddie Van Halen, Toto without Steve Lukather, or Whitesnake without David Coverdale. I love Terry Brock. He's an excellent singer, but it's just not the same. If it were called Mike Brignardello's Giant or David Huff's Giant or come up with a different name, maybe it would've been easier to digest. Dann Huff did work on the album, but still. It's a shame he's not there.
This is Rock-n-Roll... Not Heavy, Not Pop, Not Country and damn sure ain't Rap. So it ain't the old Giant, big deal. It Rocks and that is what matters. The vocals are very nice and John (as usual) is excellent on the guitar licks. Five out Five. We need more Rock and this Rocks!
@creedjulio: Actually, it's AOR/melodic rock. And classy AOR/melodic rock at that. Giant and Terry Brock are physically incapable of playing subpar music, individually or together.
maybe this not sound like the classic giant, but i prefer listen to this new "giant" album and not a new album of jonas brothers, tokyo hotel and that mtv music...
I´m happy to see a Band Giant can stay longer and alive, but I agree with Torn, Dann Huff is almost the whole soul of Giant.

I'm torn. I like this song right away. I like John Roth from Winger. But can a band really called themselves Giant without the original lead singer AND lead guitarist (rolled into one)?
Really good song with excellent changes. Too bad Dann is not on board but he did co-write a few songs on the album, including this song, and played some guitar. Look forward to this CD...
BTW, this video is very, but VERY WELL DONE! Props to Frontiers, they finally put out some quality video, and not those amateurish stuff they put out regularly.
This song is very nice, but it has nothing different, nothing to make it stand out from the crowd, and the crowd out there is really big, believe me. Let's take Foreigner's latest album for exemple, although they have no more Lou Gramm on vocals, their style is back in full force, the same high quality writing are there and also that unique touch. What does make this Giant song stand out from the rest of the 1.000 groups around? Nothing. Same goes for Blanc Faces album. Ordinary at best...
This is a good song and Terry Broc is a very good singer, but I can't call this band Giant. There is no Giant without Dann Huff. They should have picked a different name for this project!
Not sure why folks aren't loving this... Sure it's missing Dann Huff. But Terry Brock is one of THE premier voices, and he fits in perfectly. I, for one, am really looking forward to getting this CD.
