@quobetah Nah...I still think Ninoy is better. ;-) If you've seen the full version of this interview back in 1978 (I did), you'll definitely be awed by Ninoy's brilliance; especially on how he humiliated the host Ronnie Nathanielsz and the "Three Makoy Stooges" interrogating him. Yes, I've seen Dick's recent interview, and he kinda reminds me not of Ninoy...but of Raul Roco.

I was already 20 year old when I first watched this face the nation interview. I saw the comments before and they were right - Ronnie N was clobbered by Ninoy but it was not only him. Ninoy also mauled the top newsmen of the panel. They were trying hard to belittle Ninoy but they just turned-out to be small boys compared to Ninoy. To Ninoy's and Cory's clan, I salute you, carry on the flame of freedom!

You could see the uneasiness of the panel when Ninoy was firing those witty replies. All those shifting in their seats.

This is Ninoy who was still in prison when this interview was granted.

In the longer version of this video, I think Ninoy said "naiintindihan kita, kaya kailangan mong mag-sumipsip kay marcos". And the panel were just shocked. Shock for being outwitted, and shocked for the consequences of their inability to "contain" Ninoy.

My mistake. Even my mother said that the 2nd guy from the left was Ronnie. (She watched this back in 1978, although she was not able to record it.) Comparing how he looked like in 1978 and today misled me.

Kahit na nasa sports na siya ngayon, hindi makakailang loyalista pa rin siya ni Marcos. May kasabihan nga, "Once a Marcos loyalist, always a Marcos loyalist."

It's true that the US had something to do w/ the dictatorship's activities, primarily to protect their military bases (in Subic & Clark) & other interests, w/c were being threatened by the communist insurgency in Mindanao and the even larger threat that was the USSR!
