So...he makes a decision to play within his financial strength and thinks that by doing it the way Jaws did it or Aliens, mind you, MANY years ago.... that this new Spawn might be a bigger success...

The only flaws of the first movie for me was that the story was a bit confusing, and wasn't engaging enough, since it needed more character development.

He talked in the animated show/film and alien and jaws are both terrible examples of movies where the main characters cant talk. Jaws is a shark, alien is a fucking alien, spawn however is a human or former human whom was able and should be able to talk in the movie unless you want to see a repeat of 1997. Oh and Michael Myers was the example you were looking for for a main character with no talking.

When I first saw the spawn movie as a kid, I bought pretty much every toy my parents would buy me. There wasn't any other character as bad ass as spawn. I even owned the same motorcycle in the chase scene LOL (unintentional). If you ask me, the movie was extremely entertaining and I will always like it. I really wish they'd make an updated movie and bring together another film for us with lots of action and guns like the older comics and the first movie had, because that's what they did so well.

What made that cartoon great was the focus on the other characters, their relationships and their conflicts. We really need this movie to come out. I'll go back to the theaters and watch it twice. Spawn is one of the coolest comic book anti-hero. But if a cross over should be done it would be Spawn team up with Hellboy or Spawn with The Guyver. Anyways dark comics with guys from hell is a must see on the big screen.
Seeing Spawn as more of a boogeyman rather than a superhero is something that's always been how Todd envisioned the character to be. I'm in on this new film, but I sort of hope that he does have dialogue and character development so that we can see the psychological turmoil that is his life as a Hellspawn. Either way, this movie will probably be better than the first movie and be more like the great HBO series.
We do want a Spawn Comeback... Just like the last movie.. But ofccourse with better Special Effects and a Better Script Perhaps? That's my Opinion.. He should stay the way he is... Ruthless.. Ect... The thing is though, if spawn doesn't talk and is more a force of nature, then it's not spawn, it's something completely new which would be loosely based off of spawn. i know he's the creator of spawn and all but thats a dumb idea to not talk in the movie. He talked in the animated show/film and alien and jaws are both terrible examples of movies where the main characters cant talk. Jaws is a shark, alien is a fucking alien, spawn however is a human or former human whom was able and should be able to talk in the movie unless you want to see a repeat of 1997. Oh and Michael Myers was the example you were looking for for a main character with no talking.

When I first saw the spawn movie as a kid, I bought pretty much every toy my parents would buy me. There wasn't any other character as bad ass as spawn. I even owned the same motorcycle in the chase scene LOL (unintentional). If you ask me, the movie was extremely entertaining and I will always like it. I really wish they'd make an updated movie and bring together another film for us with lots of action and guns like the older comics and the first movie had, because that's what they did so well.

@KasirRham I couldn't agree more. In alien and jaws the main characters were the people that were killed. This would mean that someone would have to counter spawns character which would make the movie pointless if spawn is not the star.

I kinda liked the 1997 movie.....Fair enough, the movie had a plot that really made no sense......but then again, the whole idea of having a mortal man, giving supernatural powers (due to the deal with the demon), doesn't make alot of sense either. Sorry, Todd. I think I'll pass on this one.

If it has great actors playing the 2 cops, dark monotone-ish mood, and at least 1 or 2 badass action scene with spawn, I'm sold. With recent super hero movies getting more serious and realistic, Todd McFarlane should take this opportunity to go to the next level and kick mediocrity out the door!

I'm going to have to wait to see... If it was more like the old cartoon series, but with just a silent spawn rather than a mopey whining spawn, then I'd totally be on board. What made that cartoon great was the focus on the other characters, their relationships and their conflicts. Spawn was just a sort of plot device that would swoop in and change character motivations or kill off a character.

I love the idea of a new movie. for all those who didnt like it. I question your taste. I loved this movie other than Jessica Priest wasnt ever in it til Rob left Image and took Chapel with him and the story changed forever. I love Leguizamo as the clown and want todd to just do it true to old school and screw hollywood. Its the fans and I have been here since the club in livonia, mi and seeing the spawnmobile before it was destroyed. At the plymouth ice arena for pee wee hockey signing. tx todd

i agree with jaredultimatum, this thing needs to come out. the first movie was good. could have been better but was good. now it can be better because we have the tech to make it better. i would look forward to a more stable plot base than the last. plus more ass kicking by my favorite comic character

We really need this movie to come out. I'll go back to the theaters and watch it twice. Spawn is one of the coolest comic book anti-hero. But if a cross over should be done it would be Spawn team up with Hellboy or Spawn with The Guyver. Anyways dark comics with guys from hell is a must see on the big screen.

Seeing Spawn as more of a boogeyman rather than a superhero is something that's always been how Todd envisioned the character to be. I'm in on this new film, but I sort of hope that he does have dialogue and character development so that we can see the psychological turmoil that is his life as a Hellspawn. Either way, this movie will probably be better than the first movie and be more like the great HBO series.

The thing is though, if spawn doesn't talk and is more a force of nature, then it's not spawn, it's something completely new which would be loosely based off of spawn. Which is just kind of bizarre...not to say it couldn't be good, it just wouldn't be spawn as we know it, and that can be unsettling for some people.
