This should be used to help with therapy. This thing predicting future crime seems a little zany. Sounds like it could predict future mental-health changes. Rather than using that to guess if the person would commit a crime due to the change, why not use it to notify people they should get therapy? Hell, maybe institute free therapy. You'd know no one was abusing it because now you've got a machine to check them :P
I'm a big fan of TYT, but I think they aren't understanding what the program is. It judges if someone is nervous or not. It's not trying to tell if the person will commit a crime far in the future. It's trying to tell if they are holding a bomb that might go off on an airplane. Someone like me is easily spooked by authority, so it might produce false positives, but this is stuff that's regularly done in screening processes that are already established.
I think until we get results and see if it's actually feasible we should calm the fuck down. Do we even know if it works yet? And if so, what are they going to do with the information collected? The only negative I see to this is if you were accused of a crime and they use that against you. It's not like, you take the test, wow you could be a terrorist, straight to jail! It would be like taking one of those internet tests and getting arrested because your personality matches Jeffrey Dahmer's.

There would be no need to store information.
similar to the polygraph test, they used subjects and personal information to establish the standards for a polygraph.
But you dont need access to the personal info of the original test subjects in order to administer a polygraph once the principles are established.
As long as the technology is used to rule out suspects (similar to a polygraph) rather than find them, it doesnt seem too nefarious.

"Lie detectors" don't detect lies. They detect nervous people. Or fidgity people. Or people with sweaty palms. How is this system going to be any different?
If you want to detect lies or something as nebulous as criminal intent develop a brain scanner that can decode the electro-chemical thought patterns in our heads. Until that technology is developed, accept the fact that it is impossible to know what is going on in someone else's head. This will lead to a shit load of false positives.

In other words, the attitude towards atheists is degrading. And as mentioned earlier, with 50% disapproval, atheists are the most despised minority... much more so than gays , scientologists, muslims.
The fertility advantage of the religious used to be counterbalanced by secularization, but secularization has stopped now.

Because the bigots (of whichever religion) hate atheists and breed like rabbits while the rate of deconversion (abandoning a faith in favor of atheism) is slower than what's needed to compensate the fertility of the religious... and this is not just my opinion but factual demographics: check Eric Kaufmann's book : "shall the religious inherit the earth". This should be used to help with therapy. This thing predicting future crime seems a little zany. Sounds like it could predict future mental-health changes. Rather than using that to guess if the person would commit a crime due to the change, why not use it to notify people they should get therapy? Hell, maybe institute free therapy. You'd know no one was abusing it because now you've got a machine to check them :P

I'm a big fan of TYT, but I think they aren't understanding what the program is. It judges if someone is nervous or not. It's not trying to tell if the person will commit a crime far in the future. It's trying to tell if they are holding a bomb that might go off on an airplane. Someone like me is easily spooked by authority, so it might produce false positives, but this is stuff that's regularly done in screening processes that are already established.

I think until we get results and see if it's actually feasible we should calm the fuck down. Do we even know if it works yet? And if so, what are they going to do with the information collected? The only negative I see to this is if you were accused of a crime and they use that against you. It's not like, you take the test, wow you could be a terrorist, straight to jail! It would be like taking one of those internet tests and getting arrested because your personality matches Jeffrey Dahmer's.
