You say that it is "not an album you'd much listen to". I wonder how you reached that conclusion. Sorry to be difficult, but the truth is it is one of my favorite works and over the years I came to know every note of it from such repeated listens. Thanks for posting it and bringing it to a (potentially) wider audience!
I'm a huge Vangelis fan, and I've never heard of this album until today when reading an interview with him. He was defending it because many people said it was "hard" to listen too. I love this. Rich, fascinating, beautiful tonal colors. It's instantly one of my favorites. I have to find this now so I can put it in my iPhone and carry it everywhere to listen to!
I had this Album on vinyle. It never made any sense to me until I listened to it on a small dose of "magic mushrooms". What was before just "noise", then became something very very special. A totaly comprehensible harmony...
I strongly advise against so called "mind expanding" substances...as people abuse them casualy, or take such excessive doses that they can become dangerously psycotic, never to return. This is the danger with all things which expand consciousness. A positive & a negative.
This is a fabulous album, I bought it twice on vinyl, originally a rerelease that I played to death (7 times the first day I got it), then a 1970s RCA gatefold (in a nice plastic sleeve, safe in the garage), and then on CD... have it loaded on my phone, have probably listened to this album more times than anything else in my collection.
I introduced it to a friend of mine who could not play a note... he taught himself to play working out this album! :)
Actually, the backstory behind this album reminds me of Lou Reed's infamous "Metal Machine Music" - an album that literally consists of nothing but one hour of audio feedback. Like "Beaubourg", it has been interpreted as being either experimental, an elaborate prank, or an attempt to get rid of the artist's contract.
It is unfortunately not avaliable on CD in my country. It has become a rare collectors item. In my youth I listened to this music. Thanks for the upload. There is no similar music like Beaubourg.
Of the two abstract, discordant albums Vangelis has put out, I think Beaubourg is the best. Invisible Connections is less playful, more claustrophobic and harder to listen to, frankly.
This album in a 'mess around' on the Yamaha CS80 ... amazing sounds from the Beast of a Polysynth of the mid 70's. Makes me want to go switch mine on...!!
Great video! Saw his sculptures in the Paris Picasso museum. Awesome. But as far as painting? He sucked and sucked hard. Flat, flat flat... Boring. Opps sorry. Did I tread on the toes of the Jesus of Suck? At any rate, the video Rocked!!! 5 stars.
It´s very like "gesang der junglige" by Stockhausen, being tonal but unmelodic, And it´s musivc about architecture, and this in a philosophers dream, since music and architecture is the two foremost non-mimetic artforms.
This theme is for people that really enjoy "the true music". Very powerfull and hypnotic. This theme is a gift of vangelis for all us, Listen Beauborg and you will feel unique in this world. Thanks for the music.
It's for me too! I like very mutch all musics from Vangelis and i have antique albuns in vinil that i colecting and i like more than my cds...lol. Thanks to watch this vd!
This a genius album - and a tribute to the CS80.

When I was a teenager I bought it on LP, a release on CD can still not be bought.
At least that is what I know. Thanks for the upload, it has been years ago that I could listen to ( a part) of it.

I admired Vangelis as my main inspiration when I compose, but I didn't know those experimental facets...
Although the more I listen to it, the more I love it. It's full of sensations, energy, living and independent music which explodes free.
5/5 stars
