on wolfenstein or duke nukem?

for duke nukem you can adjust the settings in the .cfg file so it uses the GAPI driver, this will have different effects on different devices. it will say gapi=0 or gapi=1, but even then, 5fps is pretty low, even for gapi not being enabled.

Currently I now have a nokia n82 which runs quake 3 at 30fps with full detail, so you can imagine... it plays all the other shooters at full speed lol.

I'm pretty impressed with the framerates you're getting.. I've been looking at getting a Tilt/Kaiser, but all the bitching about the lack of a GPU driver had scared me off a little. Still looks like it kicks the hell out of my Wizard, though.

How did you get it so you dont have to tap the fire button on the screen in order to shoot. I have this on my touch, but whenever I want to fire I need to tap the fire button on the screen.

in the menu go to "control" and there you can change the button for "fire" you can re map it to one of your hardkeys on the touch.

Cool, Yea I already knew that, but after reading your reply I decided to go back and mess with it some more and didnt realize I actually had to tap the fire button in order to bind it. Also for Duke Nukem, How do you change the buttons for that?

you have to go into the .cfg file and from there you simply add the charcter you want. it is a bit hard to do, and being that you have a touch, you have no keyboard, so I'm not sure what the value's are for the hard keys. but i do know the left and right softkey is called softkey1 and softkey2

actually TomTom is my LEAST favorite navigation software. i tried it. it was hard to use/non user friendly. the maps look like they were designed in microsoft paint. overall, i think it's a bad program. I would suggest iGO/MioMap (theyre both about the same) iGO is more official. If you can get more hardware out of a deal, then by all means take it, you can ALWAYS install ANY software, you can make your TyTN II look like a touch cruise software wise if you want.modaco(dot)com for games!

Just about to get either a TyTn 2 or a touch cruise. Do you need the tilt keyboard for these games or can you just use the touch screen and a button to fire? could affect my decision as to which to get??

i recomend a keyboard, you can use a touchscreen only but it will be uncomfortable. you may have lack of buttons too. I think you should just go with the TyTN II but thats my oppinion. let me just tell you that without a keyboard you will find yourself very limited to a lot of different things.

for both of them you just get files and copy it to a folder. but for duke its a bit more complex, trying to set up the controls and stuff.

cause the tilt has a fast qualcomm chip, but no drivers. kinda like whne you get a new video card but dont install the drivers. htc or qualcomm hasnt released a driver, so until it happens, its gonna stay slow. there is a website called htcclassaction(dot)org where you can find out more about this

in that video i dont remember, but in my most recent one (with doom) im using Dutty's DualTouch V3 Rom. i think i might have been using the stock htc rom in htis video.

Most videos on see on youtube, people have the HTC rom. But I've been hearing a lot of Dutty's. Is it any good? Is it a lot better than the HTC one? If it isn't, I'd probably just stick with the HTC Rom.

And did you remove bloatware when you first got your Tilt?

when i first got my tilt i probably had the AT&T rom for a day or 2, and i imediatly flashed roms, so yes, i removed all software making it resemble a tilt. i then started using Dutty's roms, they have more Rom and Ram, they're fast, they look way cooler, they have more of a touch interface, some have the touch cube. over all, its faster, cooler, better..

so yes, i would recomend it.

The Red LED of death, or white screen of death, or black screen of death...or anything of death...lol, happens on just about every device, so buy anything you have a risk, you best bet is to buy yourself a fine black and white nokia phone. no risk there..

get a tilt, you wont regret it ( i dont think lol)

I was considering getting the N95, but there's a pretty high price tag. Well, if I were to get phones I can't afford, I might as well go for the N96 or E90.

well windows and nokia are the 2 tops. as they both have many emulators and ports. have you heard that at the end of march there is supposed to be drivers released for the kaisers? meaning its gonna be way faster. however no one knows for sure if this is 100% true.

I actually heard that HTC acknowledged the driver issue. If it is true, then HTC products just became twice as good. I also heard the Xperia by Sony Ericsson is going to be pretty good. And I went to the phone store today. I'm going to pick up my Tilt next week.

the Xperia does look cool, but the way it slides out is for a left handed person, for some reason a lot of devices are like that. You know whats funny about hte Xperia tho, im looking at the specs and its saying some of the same stuff that kaiser was supposed to have, including 30fps VGA video recording. It uses a Sony Erickson OS, so say there'l be no 3rd party apps, its like the iphone, gets boring after a while cuz you cant do much with it, unlike windows mobile.

That's true. For all the complaints that people have with Windows Mobile, it's ability to add a bunch of awesome 3rd party apps make up for it. 30FPS VGA recording was one of the features I would have really liked to have. If HTC had that(or at least a device with good camera), I'd hop on right away. Too bad all their cameras suck and media abilities aren't great. But they're still powerhouses. It's also too bad they don't really know how to market their stuff.

The Tilt's camera is actually very good, but of corse it's the settings, software, etc, that block it from being good. The Qualcomm processor is new to windows mobile, and the kaiser was hte first qualcomm based device, so its gonna need the most working on. They dont know how anything is gonna respond to this new processor. if they would have used Xscale all would have been fine. o wel, in time it will be fixed.

I was actually considering getting a prepaid phone like Helio Ocean so that I could just wait till something really good comes out. But I'll just settle for the Tilt. Though, some wouldn't call the Tilt "settling."

Oh, and the Tilt's camera is decent, but the results are a little orangy. I also wish it had a decent camcorder. I think I'm just going to duct tape an N96 (when it comes out) to the Tilt.

orangy, you could argue blue as well. luckily there are different balances, auto, white, night, etc. keep it on the picture of the light bulb and all pictures the lighting looks great, like flourecent lighting.

Well if Ateksoft Releases Coolcamera then yes the Tilt would be a very fine video recorder, theyve just been developing very slowly..

Ateksoft? Are they the makers of Cool Camera? I think there's a cool camera you can download for the Tilt that'll make it better, but not that much better. If they do make one that'll create a significant change, then that'll be awesome. I think HTC should be fixing the driver issue within the next few months. Hopefully, two years from now, the Tilt will be able to hold up well. I know the 8525 still does.

CoolCamera significantly changed the camera's peformance of my sda. there wasa huge difference. it went from crappy blocky videos to clear 320x240 videos at about 15fps. there is no working version of coolcamera for the tilt, but they're working on WebcamerPlus which works but not properly. On xda there are new version of the HTC camera software, if thats what you were talking about, im using it and its slightly better.

That's probably what I'm talking about. I heard someone say how it's better, but not by a lot. I'm asking on HowardForums, and this guy is suggesting an N95-3. Based on it's advantages, I'm really considering. It's just that I haven't read up on that device too much. But the Tilt and N95 have both received an equal amount of praise. It's basically down to a QWERTY keyboard/touch screen/3rd party apps vs GREAT multimedia capabilities/cheaper plan/stability/speed. But the QWERTY counts for a lot.

well besides the great camerea that N95 has, what else is good about it? how can u tell if the speeds are any better if there arent much 3rd party apps to test? the Tilt takes microSDHC so space is no issue. only thing i see thats better about the N95 is the camerea, but correct me if im wrong, cuz i honostly dont know.

S60 is a more stable OS than Windows Mobile. I think it messes up less, but then again, this is based on what I was told. The multimedia capabilities speak for itself, and as for cheaper plan, I can get the $15 media data plan because ATT doesn't recognize the N95 as a smartphone.

For multimedia, I was comparing the Tilt and the N95, not their platforms. N95 has a much better screen, better music playing, and obviously better camera and camcorder. I mean, do you have any regrets about your Tilt? Do you think there's a better phone out there right now?

well, since the qualcomm processor is new, its not fully compatible with much, if it stays like this forever then yes i would regret the tilt, but if they add support to it and it will be faster than previous devices, i will be happy, im sure they will, as every new device now is qualcomm. o yes i know there are better devices out there, there are phone's with 7mp cameras, or 1+ ghz processors, or huge screens, or a lot of memory, but in the US, i would say this is the best phone out there.

Well, better camera doesn't necessarily mean better phone, but the US seems to have a limited selection compared to Asia or Europe. I'll probably get the Tilt, then. Between all the phones in the US, it is probably one of the best, which I guess I can settle with. Plus, it's extremely customizable with the WinMo.

I recently got a kaiser but i never really got into pocket pc's till recently. I'm not exactly sure where to start either i tried xda-developers for my kaiser but not entirely comfortable trying to install a lot of the apps by ear so any suggestions on how to get started?

Yup, I just found out recently. i never had this problem with my older HTC (magician), which ran on a 416 mhz clockwork. Even nintendo emulators are slow.. let's just hope the HTC class action site it's going to help us! (heard there's going to be a rom update within the next 4 weeks..)

recently ive been hearing a lot more too. before customer support wouldnt even admit to the problem, but now they are aware of it, and half the time support will say it's being worked on, and a quarter of the time they will give an estimate of when a fix for it will be, so that is very good news. i wonder if they're aware of the fact that the touchscreen slows everything down when touched. did this happen on your magician?

Nope, comparing the magician and the kaisar, in terms of speed, the magician wins. The touchscreen bug wasn't even there. By the way, did you read press release from HTC? Awfull news.. if they keep it up, I'll switch to the meizu m8 (hell of a device, google it!)

unfortunatly no, not with any of the current ports. the duke nukem multiplayer client was ran through DOS, so it would be pretty hard to run..

it runs, it just runs at like 1-2fps. yes it cna be fixed, there just needs to be 3D drivers released for the kaiser, which will happen. for now it's just software based, and no acceleration, which is why ther framerate is so slow.
