ive been type1 for 37 yrs now.it takes alot of work to get diet -insulin proper,i would say test 12 xs a day, thats my major success, out of the other hundred things to do.
I think I'm losing my 29 year old daughter to diabetes. She's had it for 6 years now and the drs. say at the level it's been, she'll be lucky to make it to the age of 35.She just got out of the hospital ICU from going into DKA again. She can't keep it under control because stress, illness, diet, exercise, etc.all play a part in how much insulin you need. Please, someone help me know what to do before it's too late. The hospital can't even keep it in normal range.
Your beta cells are being produced all the time but our bodies kills them off before we can produce insulin.I've always been wondering why science is not working on our emune system.I think that may be what is a cure.Wake up guys and work on it instead of transplants because if the auto immunity is not taken care of it will still kill the beta cells.
I've had Type 1 diabetes for 48 years.I had to boil a syringe every morning before I would prepare my insulin. No new needle with every shot When the needle got too dull was the time I could change it.Had to go for over 100 mi to get my equipment.
this video gives the impression that the honey moon period is kind off good.. ill have to disagree as with mine i keeps taking hypos and its just harder to learn how to control it as your body randomly makes insullin and affects your dosing... thats just my opinion...
I was diagnosed with type 1 yesterday the same day my dad was diagnosed with coeliac (which is really bizarre)...but looking at how well Dominique is managing hers, makes me feel a bit better.
Good on ya Dominique! Well done with managing your disease! I hope the treatment you are testing works. Congrats on being tough and willing to be confident with your treatment! Keep up the good fight!
yep. most meats have little carbohydrates and are high in proteins, so meats are actually a great food for us type one diabetics to eat. im not sure about type two diabetics..
@peaceloveandballet That's right.I was told by an alternative doctor in Chicago to have 60 percent protien,30 percent low vegetables and 10 percent of the higher carbs acording to what my bg is, I live in Canada on the west coast and he is in the middle closer to the east.Just waiting right now for an instuctor to show how to use my CGM.
ohh that sucks. I am one of those people who are really aware of my disease and I want to take care of myself so I'd rather go see the doctor twice a year rather than once a year.
