lol did he call him "Henry" at 1:41 the end of the interview lol Roger was my football coach way back in Pop Warner at Roosevelt Park in a tough section of LA...he grew up there too...made his first acting appearance on Sanford and Son...made sure we all watched it...that was like 1971 or 72
I think he was actually talking about Matt Houston, where Lee Horsely (who looked a bit like Tom Selleck, in the tall, dark haired, with moustache kinda way) played a millionaire private detective, and one of his buddies was a 'chopper pilot. Didn't even come close to being as good as Magnum though.
Definitely. Houston was a blatant rip-off....rich guy (no need for a Robin Masters to provide the estate...), PI, beautiful women, mustache, looked like Selleck, helicopter, good ol Buddy Epson.....but the quality of writing, wasn't even close. To his credit, Horsely, actually rose above it and made the show...watchable....but, comparing it to Magnum is like comparing the Symphony to pop music.
It was awful. "umm..uh..er..uh...the show..er..um...kinda...set....um...the standard for detective shows with humor in it...um..uh...did you..um....agree with that...a bit???" Credit to Mosley for making the best of it.

It's interesting to note how all the actors in Magnum PI, really are just like their characters in real life!
It's unusual, I suppose, but it's also great!
