  • Hi Dan, can you, or anyone, tell what is a cheap yet good black coating on sufaces to collect sunlight with that is also reasonably durable?

  • What is the power of this mirror (in watts). From the info you gave in other videos I made some calculations but they don't seem realistic ( 11kW...).

  • Where you get the reflector sheet from nd is it silver type?

  • im meaning for the acrylic mirror panels , life expectancy

  • dan do you have any data as to life expectancy for outdoor use, thanks

  • Is it a true parabola? And if so, how did you do the layout?

  • what do you use it for?

  • thats a weather buoy id

  • really educational!

  • Excellent, back in the 1980's a friend and I built one almost the same,we had ribs instead of the long support boards but we were also lucky because I had another friend that worked at a company that vacuum plated plastic so we got sheets of plexi-glass mirrored.Back then we had to use graph paper to plot the parabolic curve.Nice.....

  • song name?

  • dou you know any shop which can delivery acrylic mirror outside the USA?

  • what would work better the parabolic mirror or flat black when building the water heater?

  • I ADORE TED!

  • That doesn't look parabolic, is it?

  • seems like a really big parabola to me.

  • There are other ways to do this and other things electrically, off the grid. I like how yall concentrate on the Heliostatics, it should be the primary focus. Maybe alittle geo-thermal though? Just for good measure. The sun is a problem for some areas, and some of those areas are good for geo-thermal.

    Nice mirror, very shiny!

  • Awesome vid Dan, And I love the paintings on the wall of the other vid.

This looks real pretty. Did you mirror this Plexiglas or lexan or can you buy it like that? The music has a feeling of a mellow bonanza theme. When the sun finally comes out here I will resume with the new video series.

    MUDDy

  • :-) music.

The plexiglass aka acrylic mirror comes that way. Just ask for mirrored acrylic from the plastics supplier in your area. Think it is .118 = 1/8" roughly.

  • What is the reflective materials you use. I have heard that Mylar for instance, can not be sold outside the US. I would realy want to buy some. I am allso looking in to vacumetubes. For heating. Any suggestions? Thinking of melting glass my self.

  • This is regular mirrored acrylic. Any plexiglass supplier sells it for about $200+ a sheet. What size tubes are you looking to get.

  • Ok great! Can this be implemented with current water heater?

  • Yes, you run a black pipe down the center at the focal point. Actually just short or long of it depending.

  • High Quality is unavailable for this video.

  • Ahhhhh Youtube:-)

  • Nice video as allways, but please tell me what's the name of the song.

  • Dan I really think you like that song =)... Hey, where's the water heating device! ? Nice mirror... I am still waiting for a cold sunny day to put mine to the test again.. I have a friend down the road, he wants to make one double the size.. I'm not done with these tests, just taking a break.. I hope you are going to show future videos heating some water with smaller devices, that would be awesome to see.

  • Hey Dan, I would love for you to see what you can find out about Lonnie Johnson's JTEC system. He won a top ten award in 2008 from Popular Mechanics. JTEC has the potential to make solar energy 60% more efficient.

  • Right on time, Dan! I'm looking forward to seeing what level of efficiency you achieve with the trough mirror/water heater, and then applying what you're teaching to building a solar ammonia absorption icemaker if possible. Keep it coming!

  • Beautiful! Keep up the good work. It cheers me up to see someone with a positive vision.

  • Would you recommend Steel or Copper "Pipe" to run above the trough? please answer...

  • i would asume copper is good because sunlight hase alot of energy on the blue side of the spectrum and copper absorbs blue (it looks kinda red becaus of that)

  • TY so much

  • Dude ! love your stuff but tell me, do you have a proper job or are you living off daddies money? I could not find the time to do all you do!

  • hey i have been watching your videos

out of all the people i have subscribed you are the only one who is trying to help the wold and entertain people

    nice job man

  • Make sure to wear sun screen cancer is a bitch.

  • Yes,

This thing is a MONSTER. You dont get baked like a Fresnel Lens or Parabolic mirror. It is like a SUPER tanning bed.

    Sunscreen for sure.

  • Now your talking, there is a power plant in the desert that uses this technology, oil to steam

  • Looks "HOT"

Wish I had the time and energy to do these projects soon I hope

    Keep up the great work

  • Nice! Can't wait to see this baby in use.

  • Will this be on a platform you can change angles and rotate?

  • I will be changing the angle only. A rotating platform can be used but is really not needed as the continuous Linear beam is 60% sunrise 60% on target sunset and 100% 12pm. So if you are pointing right at the sun, it sort of tracks it in a straight line. You only need to adjust for seasonal sun changes.

  • I love your videos

  • Very nice Work =)

  • Wow! That's a lotta mirror!

  • Cool!

  • Cool parabolic mirror! Can't wait to see it in action

  • is there a website or something where i can purchase the equitment you have on the show jw?

  • Hi,

    GreenPowerScience,

    LINK Under more info.

  • thanks

  • No skateboards allowed.

  • great vid :0
