Dear god this is one of the best games i've ever played. I was born -92 and i was lucky my dad had this. I grew up watching him play it and rage as he time after time got raped by the motherbrain. I specifically remember the music in the last world before the boss. In my years of gaming i've never heard a more terrific balldropping soundtrack
If you guys like this type of short, weird looping game music, then check out the soundtrack to Faria I uploaded. That soundtrack reminded me of this song. haha
If I ever have to see a psychiatrist and s/he asks what is going on in my mind, I will play this song. Mua ha....haaa haaaaa.... AHHHHH HAAA HAAA HAAA HAAAAAAAAAAAAA!
You have to be a 80's kid to really appreciate this game and especially the music. Friday night, by yourself, you and that little square game controller. The elevator takes you down into an unknown world with the strangest of creatures. This song makes u scared to look out your bedroom window. The house is quiet. Youre scared to go into the kitchen to re-up your bowl of ice cream. Your eyes are frozen in a blinkless state wondering what comes next. I Love u Metroid.
@SILVABACK07 Amen...almost 40 now...seems like yesterday when I was getting home at 3 am, hammered ...not heading for bed but straight for NES and Metroid...life was so easy...

this song has a lot of potential. but due to the quality and it's placement in metroid it was a problem, and it still is. but now with the zero mission version we know that the purpose of the composition was really useful. thnx "Hip" Tanaka
@XMETALGEARS59X Metroid was Nintendo's response to MegaMan, Metroid was just unique enough and good enough that it continued on from just being an attempt at MM style gameplay.
@rabidcowcat65 of course, metroid was nintendo's response to a game that released a year later. they're both great games, and actually not that similar gameplaywise if you look at the main elements.
@CirqueDuFreak2000 lol silly me, that was what my brother told me, and i'm stupid for believing him and not checking myself. Ah well, I wouldn't know about gameplay wise entirely myself, I have never played a megaman game, it just looked like metroid going off of a trailer I saw for it.
@XMETALGEARS59X Kirby came out in 92, Megaman came out before that. And even then, Kirby's first game didn't have his copy ability. So Megaman was stealing powers before Kirby was.

It's was pure luck that "words" gave such password. The suitless samus was given if you passed the game with the BEST ending and then start a new game. An password to start an NEW game with suitless samus is: 000000 000020 000000 000020, don't belive me? try it. ;)

The previous comment was related to m3dion's opinion of the 'Zero Mission' version of this song. BTW, try piping your old NES tunes through a reverb/delay and maybe some slight vibrato...it really makes em come alive.
well screw them because none of them will ever have the skills to beat metroid, if it wasn't for this game, games like halo, dead space and all these alien-based games would have never caught on if metroid wasn't popular
About that, m3dion, i've actually had the guts to say that (I'm in 5th grade) and so all of the boys said to me "Ha-HA! nerd (they are right i am a nerd), you probably haven't played Halo 3, also the Best game EVA!" So that's why i'm the most hated person in my class. But know that i look at their report cards, the Halo fans happen to have C's, D's,and F's while i see the straight A's on mine. METROID ALL THE WAY!!!
I agree. The 2A03 PSG blippy and spacey charm made it more genuine in my opinion and without taking away from the game atmosphere at all. It's more relaxing.
@RoyboyX You'd have to be born in '81 like me to fully enjoy it at the proper age. But you're right, the game were way better back in the day. This 16-button controller shit is vexating!!!!

This game was ahead of it's time with it's non-linear gameplay, but it annoys me when people say a game is ahead of it's time just because it's a good game.
This version has a more irregular and jarring rhythm, with the odd rest beat between each phrase, than the rearrangement in Zero Mission, which has two. More jarring and unsettling is exactly what you want in a Norfair tune, IMHO.
I always found it odd that Norfair, one of the earliest areas you find in the game, was actually the most complex and confusing. I think a lot of people a put off Metroid because of Norfair's repeated corridors that were designed to get players lost. However, in retrospect, I think Norfair is brilliant. You never feel more lost in the game then you do in this labyrinth, and that was its intention from the start.
i first hated this song but now i got a bass and a electric guitar for a long time im trying to play as much music i can. wich includes game music. i played this on my bass and i felt so good. im going to learn to lead on my guitar as fast as i can.
I play this game sometimes on a cold winters night in my living room with the lights out and the fireplace on. The music goes really well with the atmosphere
Dear god this is one of the best games i've ever played. I was born -92 and i was lucky my dad had this. I grew up watching him play it and rage as he time after time got raped by the motherbrain.

I play this game sometimes on a cold winters night in my living room with the lights out and the fireplace on. The music goes really well with the atmosphere
