You dont have to go to a temple to live with God under mormon doctrine. Faith, repentance, baptism, recieving ths spirt, and enduring to the end is all that is necessary to return to God. The temple is necessary to recieve the greatest blessings God has to offer but not necessary to return to God in general. Im agnostic and know enough about mormon doctrine to understand that. I'm so grateful the Church had the opportunity to produce such a one-of-a-kind documentary before Elder Maxwell passed away. What a precious legacy from his lifetime!
Prior to joining the Quorum of Twelve Apostles in 1984, Elder Oaks served as justice on the Utah Supreme Court. He is also past president of Brigham Young University, a law professor at The University of Chicago Law School and as Law Clerk to Chief Justice Earl Warren in the United States Supreme Court.
Before the Savior arrived, they had been "assembled awaiting the advent of the Son of God into the spirit world, to declare their redemption from the bands of death." In fact, they were already "rejoicing in the hour of their deliverance from the chains of death." (D&C 138:16, 18.)
I miss Elder Maxwell, but he was too good, knowledgeable, and well on his way to being translated, from this planet.... But we still have 15 prophets living and they are all just as amazing, if not as well spoken as Maxwell.
Mormonism is a false religion because the true Church of Jesus Christ was restored in the philippines in 1914 by the name IGLESIA NI CRISTO or in other words, the CHURCH OF CHRIST.
And now thousands of Mormons worldwide are joining the IGLESIA NI CRISTO.
These are not "picky, theological details," he said, "they are life-giving differences."
When a person considers how unique the church's understanding of core doctrine differs drastically from the rest of Christianity, "It shouldn't come as a big surprise that other Christian churches don't know quite what to do with us."
No Father would send His children off to a distant, dangerous land for a lifetime of testing where Lucifer was known to roam free without first providing them with a personal power of protection. He would also supply them with means to communicate with Him from Father to child and from child to Father. Every child of our Father sent to earth is provided with the Spirit of Christ, or the Light of Christ.1 We are, none of us, left here alone without hope of guidance and redemption.
President Heber J. Grant (18561945) said, Without the devotion and absolute testimony of the living God in the hearts of our mothers, this Church would die And the writer of Proverbs said, Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it

As we look at the history of this earth and at the history of the restored Church of Jesus Christ, it becomes obvious that women hold a special place in our Fathers plan for the eternal happiness and well-being of His children.

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints revealed more details Monday about the locations of five new temples announced by President Thomas S. Monson at the church's general conference this past Saturday:
• For the temple serving the greater Kansas City area, the site will be in Clay County, Mo., on residential land within the Kansas City limits that is already being developed by the church. The development is known as Shoal Creek.
• The Calgary temple will be built on church-owned land next to an existing chapel in the northwest part of the city, at the intersection of Rocky Ridge Road and Royal Oak Road.
I'm a christian and i don't believe that we're the only ones out here in the universe. What i can't comprehend though is what their history would be and if they would need Jesus to die for them as well. My issue is though at 2:32 when he says "by obedience to his laws we can return to His presence". In ephesians chapter one the bible states that we are saved and given assurance of our salvation by the Holy Spirit being given to us when we believe in Christ as our savior. not when we are obedient
Without the grace of Christ, nothing we did in this life would have any eternal value. All the obedience in the world cannot cleanse one of sin or conquer death - only the grace of Christ gives us such hope. See more about what Mormons believe with regards to the relationship of faith, grace, and works by visiting jefflindsay*.*com*/*faith_works*.*html
@mormons101 Nothing we do has any value in reference to eternity. The only thing we can "do" that will have any value is to trust fully and solely in Jesus. Trusting in a man named Joseph, or a church organization called the LDS church will get you nowhere but eternal torment. Trust in Jesus. Jesus. Jesus.
When I was a boy, it was quite a hike (across a stream, across a beaver dam, through an aspen grove, and a leap of faith to jump from shore to a very large rock just below a splendid waterfall. It was there that I could view the world from the present in all the beauty and refreshment that surrounded me. I had to make the hike, but it was worth it, for certain. Let's hike together and be friends, 'K? "Courage is being scared to death, and saddlin' up anyway" ~John Wayne~ Be my friend.
clintine24 Mormons say Christians ARE THE DEVILS INVENTION & they are as CORRUPT AS HELL
We talk about Christianity, but it is a perfect pack of nonsense... Myself and hundreds of the Elders around me have seen its pomp, parade, and glory; and what is it?It is a sounding brass and a tinkling symbol; it is as corrupt as hell; and the Devil could not invent a better engine to spread his work than the Christianity of the nineteenth century.(LDS Mormon journal of discourses volume 6 page 167)
@clintone24 Our Beloved Savior was and is our greatest exampler! He set the standards we are to follow while he was here in mortality.Jesus didn't just believe in God Our Father but spent His short life here bringing ppl unto Him.Even He who was perfect was baptized to fulfill ALL of Fathers purposes. He healed, comforted, and preached Our Fathers will unto all who would listen.Every single thing He did was to prove His obedience an love to The Almighty, such is yours an my purpose also.
@TrickTrolan The examples Jesus set could not, and can not ever be followed even close enough to merit one day in heaven. Jesus was not here to teach us to follow every law and commandment of God, He was here to teach us that we are utterly incapable of doing so successfully, and that on He was able to, thus only trust in Him can save us and make us right in God's eyes. Our works and ordinances do not add one second to our eternal life in heaven, not one. Only Jesus can save, sorry.
@godluvsmormons Have you read, pondered, studied, and prayed about the truthfulness of The Holy Bible~The Book of Mormon~Doctrine&Covenants~Pearl of Great Price?Have you witnessed the miracles I've seen the Authority of the Priesthood perform.Do you feel love for every single soul on this earth, and for those who came before us?Until you humble urself before God and come unto Him with a broken heart&contrite Spirit in sincere prayer you will never experience the blessings of the Gospel of Our Savior
@godluvsmormons AND our Works and Ordinances and obeying and DOING Our Fathers Commandments Have EVERYTHING to do with us ever being able to live with Him again. No need to say sorry to me my brother...I'm doing my best which is all He asks of us.
If what you said is true than you aren't a Christian..All of you theologians need to either devote yourself to your religion or abandon it. Quit trying to take new evidence that opposes the existence of God and try to make it 'fit' into your religion..Finding another planet with life on it would not go along with Christianity. It would be a remarkable piece of corroborating evidence of the Bing Bang theory.
the big bang & evolution are just convenient excuses for doing hard scientific research, & for patience. Saying "we look like apes, therefore we evolved from a lower form" is a silly sounding to us as someone just saying God did it to you. The difference between believers and atheists/agnostics is that we don't just say God did it, we find evidence and even proof that God did it. When we find that evidence, we present it to the world & they say "oh, God can't exist, therefore you are wrong"
@apologeticsman PROOF?! Then I guess you don't need FAITH anymore! Please cite your so called proof that god exists. I won't hold my breath. Your lack of knowledge is embarrassing. Science provides answers. Religion has to provide excuses because it truly offers no answers. Do whatever you need to do to make yourself feel better but do not try and pretend that you know so much about a yet to be proven existent god.
@tanwil87 uh, proof that God exists? Ok, take a deep breath.. there, there's your proof. That would not have been possible without God. It is a scientific and mathematical impossibility for life to have simply begun, without a supremely intelligent and even artistic being behind it. BTW, 500 years ago, scientists were sure that the earth was flat, now we know it is not because we have been able to get a better picture of it by exploration. The Bible told us the earth was a sphere, 3000 years ago
@godluvsmormons “Then the devil took him up to a very high mountain, and showed him all the kingdoms of the world in their magnificence,” ---- Matthew 4:8 NAB. This would mean they believed the earth was flat. Please show me where the said it was round?
when the Devil showed Jesus the kingdoms, it was in a vision. Even on a flat earth, we could not see all the kingdoms of the world from even the highest vantage point. The verse in which the Bible states the earth is a sphere is in Isaiah 40:21-23 The word that is translated "circle" is the Hebrew word for sphere. Estimates put Isaiah's origins at about 740 B.C. so I was a little off there, but that was only when the book was compiled, it may have been written as many as 60 years earlier
@godluvsmormons You know a lot about circles, you go in a circle avoiding answers. Even by your own admission "we could not see all the kingdoms of the world from even the highest vantage point" even if the earth was flat. Then my question is how would they have seen them all if the world was a sphere? You are a real piece of work lol
@godluvsmormons also I want to comment on your scientific and mathematical impossibilities. If life beginning is highly improbable than a "supremely intelligent creator" would be infinitely more improbable than that. That's why I must say once again science absolutely does not go in any way with religion. It disproves more and more of the false claims made by religion every year.
@godluvsmormons WOW you disgust me. You REALLY need to pick up the book Cosmos written by Carl Sagan. You could probably gain a wealth of knowledge if you would pick up just about any child's science book as well. You apparently have absolutely no education in religion, science, history, geography, or astronomy. I, however, am well educated on all of these subjects and it is pointless for me to continue with such a misinformed and uneducated opponent. Read a book..any book..PLEASE. Good day.
@godluvsmormons Once again...Astronomers knew it before the Torah was written. Therefore your response is once again worthless. The bible is a collection of stolen ideas, stories, and traditions. This is all fact. Please unless you have something intelligent to contribute don't reply. I am tired of having to respond to your absolute nonsense. You don't know anything about history. You continuously make false statements. You don't know the difference between fact and faith.
@tanwil87 Explain how a "primitive" nomadic people, 4,000 years ago knew that semen was what caused women to become pregnant? I have never run this experiment, but I would bet that if you went to 100 "primitive" tribes around the world, and asked them how it is a woman becomes pregnant, most if not all would give completely unscientific reasons, such as "the gods send the baby" or "she swallows a seed and it grows in her belly" They certainly would not know it was semen but the Jews did ...
@godluvsmormons Once again with all of your speculation. It's funny to see someone squirm around creating "facts" (what I call lying) just to give meaning to their absolutely blind faith.
@tanwil87 My faith is anything but blind. In fact, the so called "Christian" faith is the only defensible, factual faith on the planet. We do not depend on dragons and Spaghetti monsters, we have a real God, who really and factually interacted with humankind on many occasions, not the least of which was in Israel and Rome, circa 0-33 A.D. give or take. He really walked, really talked, really did miracles and really was killed on a Roman cross. He then really and truly rose from the dead.
@godluvsmormons YOU HAVE NO PROOF. Quit trying to state your FAITH as FACT. Faith means believing without factual evidence..you are going on hope alone. Every other religion believes just as strongly about their god/gods as you believe about your god. Christianity has more holes in it than almost any other religion. You are BLIND.
@tanwil87 The Jewish scripture in which the verse about the earth being a sphere was written more than 1,000 years BC, long before your astronomers "discovered" it. Not only that, but the modern practice of sterilizing surgical instruments was derived from the Bible's cleanliness commandments, less than 300 years ago. God knows science because He created the laws that science is governed by.
@godluvsmormons So 1000BC was before 6000BC? You can't do math either...you continue to astonish me. And also nice story about sterilization but once again you are wrong, which I've noticed is a trend with you.
@tanwil87 there were no astronomers in 6000 BC, there were barely people who could write, muchless people who had telescopes and tools necessary for studying the planets and stars. You said 600 BC before, then erased your comment, so that is your bad. If you don't believe me about sterilization of medical instruments, look it up. Before doctors sterilized their instruments, they used to lose a large percentage of their patients to staph infection. continued
most of the flawed so called scientists in our era begin with the assumption that there is no God, hence their conclusions are based on conjecture and personal bias rather than pure research. The paradigm of a spherical Earth was developed in Greek astronomy, beginning with Pythagoras (6th century BC), The Bible called the earth a sphere in 740-800 BC, nearly 200 years before the Greeks ever came to that conclusion. Instead of calling me stupid, how about actually refuting me?
@godluvsmormons If science assumed something for which there is no scientific evidence - a God, for example, then it would no longer be science. And it would be based on conjecture and bias. This is why science and religion are different. Science is based on observation and reason. Religion is based on authority.
@MightyCarnac If I see that there is order, intelligence and obvious purpose in the world and indeed the universe, that is an observation, thus is is scientifically viable to assert that order+ purpose + intelligence = God. The only way you could say otherwise is to DISprove my hypothesis scientifically. The burden is on you to show me scientifically that order, purpose and intelligence are but mere illusions or coincidence.
@godluvsmormons I'm not acquainted with any order, purpose or intelligence in this universe which implies or relies on LDS theology. Are you? Joseph Smith is but one of hundreds who've claimed to be the exclusive mouthpiece of God. I make no claims, I write no scriptures, I employ no missionaries. But I take leave to wonder why one should prefer Joseph Smith over Muhammad. If there's a burdon of proof it lies with folks like Joseph Smith & his successors, Muhammad, the popes & priests and so on.
slikshot: Worlds without end has he created.. like sands upon the seas.
Alien to our world... yes.. but not to him.
Do you really think we are alone here? Just little ole earth is this huge universe? All those planets and stars out there.. and we are it? Come on now.
wow...so you believe that there are more than us in this universe? You believe that God would put other life forms into the universe without telling us?
okay, here is my logic, the guy is talking about how we are not alone in the universe, saying that there are other life forms in this universe, saying that God created those other life forms, and I have found no scripture to support that, so why would God put other life forms in this universe and not tell us? Why does this guy even bring that up? Why does that matter to us?
omiolo-Sometimes there are those who haggle over words. They might say the prophet gave us counsel but that we are not obligated to follow it unless he says it is a commandment. But the Lord says of the Prophet Joseph, Thou shalt give heed unto *ALL his words and commandments* which he shall give unto you (D&C 21:4; italics[**] added). (Benson, Fourteen Fundamentals in Following the Living Prophet, pp. 2728.)" (Teachings of the Living Prophets 4-7/p 21. LDS Church>LDSCatalog*com>#32495000
omiolo-"'The living oracles speak in the name of the Lord or as moved upon by the Holy Ghost, HOWEVER, their utterances ARE then BINDING upon ALL who hear, and WHATEVER is said WILL WITHOUT ANY EXCEPTION be found to be in harmony with the standard works..'..Elder Marion G Romney explained that the Lord 'has not left us unguided to jangle over the interpretations of those revelations. ..He has given us living prophets to interpret those revelations.'"LDS:Teachings of the Living Prophets, 4-2/p 18
I think it is great that you can quote ad nauseum some of these things and SPIN them to the best of your ability. However, you continually AVOID the LDS Holy Scriptures which contain LDS Doctrine. Which is the equivalent of trying to figure out where you are going without opening your eyes!
You dont have to go to a temple to live with God under mormon doctrine. Faith, repentance, baptism, recieving ths spirt, and enduring to the end is all that is necessary to return to God. I'm a christian and i don't believe that we're the only ones out here in the universe. What i can't comprehend though is what their history would be and if they would need Jesus to die for them as well. My issue is though at 2:32 when he says "by obedience to his laws we can return to His presence". In ephesians chapter one the bible states that we are saved and given assurance of our salvation by the Holy Spirit being given to us when we believe in Christ as our savior. not when we are obedient
clintone24 3 years ago
Without the grace of Christ, nothing we did in this life would have any eternal value. All the obedience in the world cannot cleanse one of sin or conquer death - only the grace of Christ gives us such hope. See more about what Mormons believe with regards to the relationship of faith, grace, and works by visiting jefflindsay*.*com*/*faith_works*.*html
mormons101 3 years ago 3

TrickTrolan 10 months ago 10
@godluvsmormons AND our Works and Ordinances and obeying and DOING Our Fathers Commandments Have EVERYTHING to do with us ever being able to live with Him again. No need to say sorry to me my brother...I'm doing my best which is all He asks of us.

@clintone24
If what you said is true than you aren't a Christian..All of you theologians need to either devote yourself to your religion or abandon it. Quit trying to take new evidence that opposes the existence of God and try to make it 'fit' into your religion..Finding another planet with life on it would not go along with Christianity. It would be a remarkable piece of corroborating evidence of the Bing Bang theory.
tanwil87 1 year ago
@tanwil87 "Big bang" = God said it, and BANG, there it was.
apologeticsman 11 months ago
@apologeticsman
I rest my case.
tanwil87 11 months ago
the big bang & evolution are just convenient excuses for doing hard scientific research, & for patience. Saying "we look like apes, therefore we evolved from a lower form" is a silly sounding to us as someone just saying God did it to you. The difference between believers and atheists/agnostics is that we don't just say God did it, we find evidence and even proof that God did it. When we find that evidence, we present it to the world & they say "oh, God can't exist, therefore you are wrong"
apologeticsman 11 months ago
@apologeticsman PROOF?! Then I guess you don't need FAITH anymore! Please cite your so called proof that god exists. I won't hold my breath. Your lack of knowledge is embarrassing. Science provides answers. Religion has to provide excuses because it truly offers no answers. Do whatever you need to do to make yourself feel better but do not try and pretend that you know so much about a yet to be proven existent god.
tanwil87 11 months ago
@tanwil87 uh, proof that God exists? Ok, take a deep breath.. there, there's your proof. That would not have been possible without God. It is a scientific and mathematical impossibility for life to have simply begun, without a supremely intelligent and even artistic being behind it. BTW, 500 years ago, scientists were sure that the earth was flat, now we know it is not because we have been able to get a better picture of it by exploration. The Bible told us the earth was a sphere, 3000 years ago
godluvsmormons 10 months ago
@godluvsmormons “Then the devil took him up to a very high mountain, and showed him all the kingdoms of the world in their magnificence,” ---- Matthew 4:8 NAB. This would mean they believed the earth was flat. Please show me where the said it was round?
tanwil87 10 months ago
when the Devil showed Jesus the kingdoms, it was in a vision. Even on a flat earth, we could not see all the kingdoms of the world from even the highest vantage point. The verse in which the Bible states the earth is a sphere is in Isaiah 40:21-23 The word that is translated "circle" is the Hebrew word for sphere. Estimates put Isaiah's origins at about 740 B.C. so I was a little off there, but that was only when the book was compiled, it may have been written as many as 60 years earlier
godluvsmormons 10 months ago
@godluvsmormons You know a lot about circles, you go in a circle avoiding answers. Even by your own admission "we could not see all the kingdoms of the world from even the highest vantage point" even if the earth was flat. Then my question is how would they have seen them all if the world was a sphere? You are a real piece of work lol
tanwil87 10 months ago
@godluvsmormons also I want to comment on your scientific and mathematical impossibilities. If life beginning is highly improbable than a "supremely intelligent creator" would be infinitely more improbable than that. That's why I must say once again science absolutely does not go in any way with religion. It disproves more and more of the false claims made by religion every year.
tanwil87 10 months ago
@tanwil87 I have yet to see one scientific discovery that has cast even a slight shadow on a single Bible verse. Try again.
godluvsmormons 10 months ago
@godluvsmormons WOW you disgust me. You REALLY need to pick up the book Cosmos written by Carl Sagan. You could probably gain a wealth of knowledge if you would pick up just about any child's science book as well. You apparently have absolutely no education in religion, science, history, geography, or astronomy. I, however, am well educated on all of these subjects and it is pointless for me to continue with such a misinformed and uneducated opponent. Read a book..any book..PLEASE. Good day.
tanwil87 10 months ago
@godluvsmormons Also astronomers have known the earth was round since 6th century BC.
tanwil87 10 months ago
@tanwil87 maybe, but the ancient Hebrews were not astronomers, and the The Torah was written starting in around 2,000 BC
godluvsmormons 10 months ago
@godluvsmormons Once again...Astronomers knew it before the Torah was written. Therefore your response is once again worthless. The bible is a collection of stolen ideas, stories, and traditions. This is all fact. Please unless you have something intelligent to contribute don't reply. I am tired of having to respond to your absolute nonsense. You don't know anything about history. You continuously make false statements. You don't know the difference between fact and faith.
tanwil87 10 months ago
@tanwil87 Explain how a "primitive" nomadic people, 4,000 years ago knew that semen was what caused women to become pregnant? I have never run this experiment, but I would bet that if you went to 100 "primitive" tribes around the world, and asked them how it is a woman becomes pregnant, most if not all would give completely unscientific reasons, such as "the gods send the baby" or "she swallows a seed and it grows in her belly" They certainly would not know it was semen but the Jews did ...
godluvsmormons 10 months ago
@godluvsmormons Once again with all of your speculation. It's funny to see someone squirm around creating "facts" (what I call lying) just to give meaning to their absolutely blind faith.
tanwil87 10 months ago
@tanwil87 My faith is anything but blind. In fact, the so called "Christian" faith is the only defensible, factual faith on the planet. We do not depend on dragons and Spaghetti monsters, we have a real God, who really and factually interacted with humankind on many occasions, not the least of which was in Israel and Rome, circa 0-33 A.D. give or take. He really walked, really talked, really did miracles and really was killed on a Roman cross. He then really and truly rose from the dead.
godluvsmormons 10 months ago
@godluvsmormons YOU HAVE NO PROOF. Quit trying to state your FAITH as FACT. Faith means believing without factual evidence..you are going on hope alone. Every other religion believes just as strongly about their god/gods as you believe about your god. Christianity has more holes in it than almost any other religion. You are BLIND.
tanwil87 10 months ago
@tanwil87 The Jewish scripture in which the verse about the earth being a sphere was written more than 1,000 years BC, long before your astronomers "discovered" it. Not only that, but the modern practice of sterilizing surgical instruments was derived from the Bible's cleanliness commandments, less than 300 years ago. God knows science because He created the laws that science is governed by.
godluvsmormons 10 months ago
@godluvsmormons So 1000BC was before 6000BC? You can't do math either...you continue to astonish me. And also nice story about sterilization but once again you are wrong, which I've noticed is a trend with you.
tanwil87 10 months ago
@tanwil87 there were no astronomers in 6000 BC, there were barely people who could write, muchless people who had telescopes and tools necessary for studying the planets and stars. You said 600 BC before, then erased your comment, so that is your bad. If you don't believe me about sterilization of medical instruments, look it up. Before doctors sterilized their instruments, they used to lose a large percentage of their patients to staph infection. continued
godluvsmormons 10 months ago
most of the flawed so called scientists in our era begin with the assumption that there is no God, hence their conclusions are based on conjecture and personal bias rather than pure research. The paradigm of a spherical Earth was developed in Greek astronomy, beginning with Pythagoras (6th century BC), The Bible called the earth a sphere in 740-800 BC, nearly 200 years before the Greeks ever came to that conclusion. Instead of calling me stupid, how about actually refuting me?
godluvsmormons 10 months ago
@godluvsmormons If science assumed something for which there is no scientific evidence - a God, for example, then it would no longer be science. And it would be based on conjecture and bias. This is why science and religion are different. Science is based on observation and reason. Religion is based on authority.
MightyCarnac 9 months ago
@MightyCarnac If I see that there is order, intelligence and obvious purpose in the world and indeed the universe, that is an observation, thus is is scientifically viable to assert that order+ purpose + intelligence = God. The only way you could say otherwise is to DISprove my hypothesis scientifically. The burden is on you to show me scientifically that order, purpose and intelligence are but mere illusions or coincidence.
godluvsmormons 8 months ago

Come on now.

wait.....so are you saying that you believe in aliens?
slikshot24 3 years ago
"wait.....so are you saying that you believe in aliens? "
Not to God they are NOT aliens!
omiolo 3 years ago
wow...so you believe that there are more than us in this universe? You believe that God would put other life forms into the universe without telling us?
slikshot24 3 years ago
slikshot,
wow, I have missed those huge leaps of conjecture and logic on your part!
seriously, are you like that in real life or just towards the LDS religion?
omiolo 3 years ago
okay, here is my logic, the guy is talking about how we are not alone in the universe, saying that there are other life forms in this universe, saying that God created those other life forms, and I have found no scripture to support that, so why would God put other life forms in this universe and not tell us? Why does this guy even bring that up? Why does that matter to us?
slikshot24 3 years ago
your leap of logic and conjecture is concluding that I believe or have the same opinion on the subject of other worlds as Elder Neal A. Maxwell.
omiolo 3 years ago
so you are admitting to not believing something that an Elder, a member of the Quorom of the Twelve Apostles is telling you?
slikshot24 3 years ago
"so you are admitting to not believing something that an Elder, a member of the Quorom of the Twelve Apostles is telling you? "
that should be obvious.
The only thing that we are required to believe is that which the Holy Spirit tells us is true. But you and I have been over this before.
Are we rehashing this for a specific purpose?
omiolo 3 years ago
if he is a prophet who speaks from god then we should believe him..right?

He is an honest man and that is why you should believe him. He is only a prophet when God speaks through him.

I think it is great that you can quote ad nauseum some of these things and SPIN them to the best of your ability. However, you continually AVOID the LDS Holy Scriptures which contain LDS Doctrine. Which is the equivalent of trying to figure out where you are going without opening your eyes!
