how much does he weigh? I have a large pitbull mix who loves to pull and run. Think this would be great for her. We tried hiring a dog trainer to roller-blade with her, but she chased a cat across a yard and we had to pull the trainer out of the bushes. He never came back.....
@psychobunny32 There's a great couple of youtube videos by Boston Snowdogs: one of the teams "urban mushing is a pair of pitbulls pulling a girl on a scooter... they mush right on-by a loose Doberman. I have a couple of "Mushing 101" videos too. 1 or 2 dogs can pull a bike or rig, train, have brakes, wear a helmet, use a good trail, use a sledding harness. Save the skateboard for when your dog is trained.
Great excercise for herding breeds too! Yeah, I can't keep up with my huskies either, so we use a 3 wheeled rig. Wish more people would realize how simple this is, how much fun, and how much the dogs love it.
@swordwhale1 Probably a heck of a lot safer than when I tied two harnesses together and hooked my family's two dogs up to my bike as a kid. Only one of them obeyed me, but she was the heavy one so it worked out. The dogs got to run to their hearts' content and we didn't have to go to a dog park to do it (which was good since one tended to be aggressive with dogs she didn't know).
@Spoofmaster21 >) I mushed on a bike (2 dogs) for years. Rig (or dogcart) is somewhat safer, but a bike or scooter works well with a dog or two. Training your dog well, even better! Briards are very cool! there's one in our doggie dance class.
We did a lot of ground training for about 8 months. His whoa was awesome before we started. His directional commands still needed work (gee and haw). we could do them from a standing position but in motion we have to relearn them. A bit of rein pressure helped him and a whoa if he decided to go his own way. But he transitioned to me in the seat surprisingly well.
the sulky was built by jim walsh in australia...regal mini sulkies...he has also designed sulkies fot harness racing...it is an incredible and light weight design
@nywarlord87 Because he wants to run and I can't keep up with him...he likes me to go with him...he gets so excited when I pull out his harness to go for a run, he starts jumping around and wagging his tail. It would be torture for him to sit in a seat and watch me run. He loves to run and this enables us to be together. Its running with your best friend.
@courteous1 I know I was only kidding lol You have a wonderful dog hes so smart. I love dogs, I have three dogs myself all of them are german sheperds. One is 14 years old and shes still going strong. The other two are brother and sister and there about to turn two. And there so funny we have those handle door knobs that you just turn down and as soon as they were old enough to jump up and reach it they figured how to open up all the doors in the house.
that looks like so much fun! :D

Excellent video! Thanks for sharing it and caring enough about your dog to give him enough excercise and a job that he loves.
One question; what was the cost for the sulky and harness?

Oh, man. I wish I had one of those for my husky. Where did you buy it? Or did you build it yourself? My dogs would love something like that.

@0Blaire0 It's not an American invention. What do you think draft dogs were bred for in the first place?

He looks delicious.

Now why don't you let the dog sit there and you pull him around.
