As I've noted in a previous video; most republicans are socially conservative socialists; neither of them understand the concept of small government, individual freedom and personal responsibility. Its always some wanker with a "I know whats best for you" vision for the country.
Yeah I guess you're right. It certainly makes him look weak willed. Christ, this would be stupid for a man to do who wasn't in the public spotlight. What would possess a man with so many political enemies ready to catch him doing something like this, to go ahead and do it anyway? At least we found out early, I guess...
Sucks for the state's rights movement, though. I can imagine the liberal drones at HuffPo right now masturbating to this development.

Most people don't support Ron Paul's platform - therefore he will never be elected. His platform is based on idealism, just as the far-left's platform is based on idealism.
The only viable candidate is a realist - I'd support Mark Sanford for President - I would not support Ron Paul.
because we live in a representative republic and that's how it works (most of the time).
Of course do what your heart desires, but those of you who voted as your heart desires are 1/2 the reason we have this scary, mofo socialist in office. The other 1/2 of the reason being that people voted for him.
I would think that the far-right would want a viable candidate so you might have a fighting chance during the next election. Ron Paul ain't it.
Folly, would you trade Obama's "scary mofo" socialism for McCain's scary mofo fascism? That was the choice we faced in the 08 election, the result of our "realism."
Political machines thrive on realism, because it allows them to prey on fears. A truly independent republic would be one where we are ALL Ron Pauls and Mark Sanfords, voting with our ideals and against the decrees of our overlords.
So you're right, in a fashion--Ron Paul ain't it. He's us, and we deny our own freedoms at our peril.
Most people want to live in la la land, and only hear "yes we can!" over and over. This is the sad fact you are referring to or should I say suffering from, as long we let other peoples decisions affect our own, we are not in control and cannot do the right thing. Listening to this la la land crowd and letting them affect your judgment is a crime, you are smarter than that it appears. We need more people like Ron Paul, it will be a group behavior type of evolution for those who are afflicted.
You have the skills and the intellect to go national. Most important you have the philosophy to back it up. I would assume that you are already working on this, aren't you?
Ron Paul has to run, but he needs a running-mate who has the public speaking skills of Reagan, Clinton or Obama. Note that i said speaking skills, not philosophy.
Government is the biggest thief and murderer in our society. They torture people with our stolen money and fight wars of aggression, as well as regulating us to death in all aspects of our lives. It´s time to get government out of our lives.
An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. Actually, these days it's probably worth more like several milllion tons of cure. Anyway, nice job SA. Cheers.
Well said, SA. The GOP only continues to shoot itself in the foot with these so-called "conservatives" (neocons) at the helm and focusing on trivial things like gay marriage, abortion, and creationism. Its image should focus on that of small government, fiscal responsibilty, and a passion for strict constitutionalism.
People deserve the government they get, the government they vote for, and the American people at large certainly do have a record!
Conservativism by definition is not mamby-pamby. People, you have to decide which way you want this country to go!, all the way to the left or all the way to the right, because it is not fixed, it is therefore moving, and that to the left! If you want the government to tell you whether you can spit, and what money is yours...
imo it's not apt to make comparison in what dead people would do today compared to what they did or advocated back then. ppl always bring up (at least in my own political circle) hamilton and lincoln as villains, but problem is what we do today is 100th degree higher then what government did and what hamiltonians advocated in their day. so given that, would hamilton still say we need central power in today's world if he was alive?. I'd guess no.
I think that there is good reason to believe that Hamilton and Lincoln would agree with what is happening now. Plenty of people do agree with it as there are those of us today that agree with Jefferson. One could hope that they would be appalled, but they might just as well be approving. It is difficult to speak for the dead.
There's only two things I can't get over when it comes to Johnson - that he wants open borders, and that he supports internet taxes. You can keep those.
Sanford...is a constitutionalist in name only. He is a shill for the neo-con GOP who recently cuddled up to Newt Gingrich on national TV, stating that the USA should have launched a pre-emptive EMP attack on North Korea (this involves a high altitude nuclear detonation), which likely would have crippled South Korea as well.
It's good to hear Johnson mentioned in one of your commentaries...Keep it up Jack!! I've been listening to your words since the 96wave days and must confess you helped open my eyes to the history I never knew existed.
I can see clearly now, for the longest time i didnt understand why taxes were wrong. But now I know, it stiffles growth abd usually leads to a budget deficit
I think allot of the people who advocate small gov or the constitution are actually anarchists. They just like the idea of a central organization where ideas and social disputes can be dealt with or heard. Even the "founding fathers" said that the people should be in charge and overthrow GOV when they felt it necessary. Sounds like anarchy to me.
The Ironic thing is that the "Libertarian" was a leftist idea that meant "anarchy" but after the new deal american conservatives took the word libertarian to seperate themselves from the neocons. Funny how shit goes huh?
>> The Ironic thing is that the "Libertarian" was a leftist idea that meant "anarchy"
Slight correction: Libertarianism is anarchy (i.e. the absence of government a.k.a freedom or capitalism) but it is not a movement of the left. The LEFT is the movement of statism, fascism and communism (i.e. socialism and government).
Anarchy (i.e. respect for human rights) is a movement of the political RIGHT not the LEFT.
In the sense that "left" and "right" are used in American politics that's absolutely true, but in 18th century France where the terms were first used the "right" was understood to be "liberalism" and the basic respect for property rights vs the statism of people on the left who were conducting the Reign of Terror.
Anyway, it's all semantics. What is absolute fact however is that the free market is the source of all human happiness while the government is a source of nothing but evil.
well going back to france, the original anarchist/libertarian movement was actually more of a socialist movement simply because they didn't believe in the idea of personal property and wealth accumulation. they wanted anarchy and freedom, and they wanted everyone to "share" everything, but not a government to regulate the sharing...a pretty hopeless endeavor if u ask me.
>> personal property and wealth accumulation. they wanted anarchy and freedom,
Which is the schizophrenia of socialists everywhere. They thought that way because everyone on this planet is a mental patient. But there is no freedom without personal property. Personal property is freedom and vice versa.
The people who claim to be freedom fighters for the abolition of personal property are the worst kinds of Statists (i.e. communists), not anarchists. Anarchism is founded on property rights.
>> well going back to france, the original anarchist/libertarian movement was actually more of a socialist movement
No. The Libertarian movement in France was NOT socialist. The libertarians were the counter-revolutionaries. They were people like Basitiat, Say, and Turgot, NOT Robespierre and the Jacobins.
In America, Anarchists are indeed generally associated with the far left, because of the social anarchists' beliefs that private property rights should be abolished, and their tendency to use violence and force to achieve their goals. While you're right that free-market anarchism aligns closer with the far right libertarians, the general perception in the US is that anarchism is far left.
thats because most people are told the political spectrum is a one dimensional, left or right, kinda thing. when really it's more 2-D with both a social and fiscal dimension. do a google search for "the world's smallest political quiz" if you haven't seen the 2-d political spectrum before. some would even say it's more 3-D, if you add "foreign policy" as a seperate political dimension
> because of the social anarchists' beliefs that private property rights should be abolished ... use violence to achieve their goal
Which proves that these people are not anarchists since they advocate forming a government in order to confiscate peoples private property. That's not anarchism that's communism.
The only reason this shit flies over here is because people are here are RAVING SCHIZOPHRENICS who think you can be an advocate of repressive government and an anarchist at the same time
>> Not true. The far left is akin, not to National Socialism, but to Bolshevism. Which form of government has the deaths of millions on its hands?
Both Bolshevism and National Socialism are forms of socialism (a.k.a. communism, a.k.a. GOVERNMENT) they are both movements of the LEFT and for the record, FDR and the bolsheviks killed 10 times as many people as Hitler.
