  • @jackstrawfrmwchta There's no such thing as wormholes. So, what you say is crap. I think you best go back to the institution where you escaped from. And leave the world in peace without the shit you're writing here. Off you go!

  • @jackstrawfrmwchta t'as un sacré problème toi! à mon avis une séance chez le psy te ferait pas de mal!

  • UP DA POUGES!!!!!!!!!

  • @aliensrule77 It's a conspiracy! They're out to get us. Be afraid, be very afraid! The idiots are coming. Aaaaggghhh!!! The buggers got me. You're next.

  • 5 people who listened don't have ears

  • Shane's Irish... Now Fuck Off And Dance!!! ;-)

  • sounds like mediterranean music, actually a lot of irish are from the mediteranee originally especially the "black irish" people with dark hair and darker skin but still white, my @0.02 enjoy the song :)

  • What a voice Shane has...

What a music the Pogues made...

I was 15 when I first heard this voice/this song, I've been always thinking that behind this voice there must be a wonderful man, first time I saw him was 3 years ago (I age 32 by now,imagine...) but still Shane remains in my heart as a beloved friend.

Hate to read comments about teeth or alcoholism.Concentrate on the voice/music,please.

Shane, darling, love you as a brother.

    Greetings from Athens.

  • Yeah Hell's Ditch it is called this world.

  • better than Englanese, you undialected cunt

  • Actually a very talented songwriter mostly overlooked because of his gruff style of singing. Shame really (not his style of singing, just that people can't get past it)

  • look, ye daft cunts, if a person is born in america of a cherokee woman and irish man, wtf is that person?americn?come on/.....no, nyet.....american and othr nationalities are bullshit

  • Shane was born in the UK to Irish parents. To me, that equals Irish.

  • For some reason it reminds me a bit of a load of 40's gangsters sitting in a smoky room with one violin case and a lot of whiskey... I don't know why.

  • my favourite folk rock group . pardon me for mistake , i'm french

  • You must be without a heart if you dislike this! I love this song! :)

  • love your work cobs

  • That first line just sums it up!

  • agreed, I was born in Kerry Ireland, but live In the USA. Shane is great, born Irish in the UK , but still I love his writing

  • the truth that is shane was born in marseilles, france.

  • infact it is...

  • i dont care about fuckin influences of that song its the pogues and they kick some asses....amazing song!!!

  • greek, arabic, turkish, irish or celtic or simply the other world... the white blacks of europe, eurasia or the world... who cares after all, this is the greatest music ever

  • (after a guttural laugh) Yeah, drunkanese, a popular dialect in Ireland.

  • Also, his front teeth are missing, which might have something to do with it.

  • @ComfortablyUnnumb Actually it's called bog-speak, and it's the primary language of most Celtic countries.

  • dont really know why,but the melody of this song reminds me of the game Croc the legend of the gobbos :)

  • Who gives a flying fuck...just enjoy some good music.

  • good on u AKfromUSA a few of there songs dont mean anything like the Gentelman Soldier but its still one of my favourite songs

  • Dont be a hole and claim this music isnt eastern/turkish influenced, anyone experienced in Irish music will tell you its highly influenced by the orient, hence the bouzouki : D

  • the beginning sounds like greek sirtaki

  • @ofschorchedpumpkins I don't give a flying rat's ass where the musics influenced by, it still sounds Fucking Awesome

  • the beginning sounds like zorba the greek

  • Eastern Europe, Turkisch/Arabian....

then why does it sound so danm Greek?

  • Shane is from Puchain Co.Tipperary Eire

  • @griddidy

Shane was born in London, England

  • shane was born in kent, while his parents were visiting some relatives in christmas time. he grew up in ireland and then he moved to london

  • @JTpoguemahone Well said JT , at last somebody who has set the record straight. Shane is as Irish as the mountains of Mourne. Being born while his parents were in England changes nothing. He grew up at home in Tipperary and later moved to London with the family. End of.He now lives at home in Ireland. Besides, because of the famine, millions of people all over the world claim Irish ancestry and Irish blood. Bless 'em one and all, far and wide.

  • black dildo, black hell ... Such a classy tune, with smussy lyrics. That's Pogues allright ;)

  • The beggining of this song sounds like russian music.

  • It's probably a influence :)

  • not russian,but greek yes

  • Not to get into a shit toss, but Russian- music is very eastern, and one could argue it is the Asian-Turkic influence throughout,if u ever been to Russia as I have go east or south and u hear these samae infleuncesi.e. Crimea, Chechyna, even Baku or Uzbek. Its all eastern. I am Hungarian-Yugoslavian(formerly) and it is chock full in all folk or Gypsy music also.

  • all you islanders are hobbits to me. lol

but you sure make beautiful music and a great cup o' tea.

  • how now brown cow

  • Embarrassingly*

  • Who the fuck cares if he was born in Ireland or England; Shane's a great songwriter, take it for what it is, who gives a shit about his place of birth.

  • Amen.

  • i agree, everyone's so caught up in irish culture these days they only like things if they're irish and not if they're just good.

  • i believe river dance, celtic woman and just about any bad american shit like "irish jam" would back your statement up jfalcon.

  • shane macgowan was actually born in Kent in England......not a lot of people know this tho.....

  • @clarey2903 you are right, but his parents are irish and he lived in ireland and regarded it as his home, if ur tryin to disasociate him with irish music forget it. I'm irish and wen i move away later this year my kids in years to come will be irish.

  • @tigerspuds yeah really!!...tit!!

  • @badjackbrowning5 Right! As far as I'm concerned I don't give a fuck if he comes from the Crab Nebula. The music is great!

  • @badjackbrowning5 YES!So it is.and it is ok so!

  • @badjackbrowning5 I love your comment! I have heard more debating about where he was born than the true importance of his musical genius....he is a poet and the music rocks!

  • Keep pretending you're "Irish". You spend to much time on you tube.

  • Well "Brendan" i was born and brought up in Co Cork so that pretty much makes me Irish. Better to be that then a plastic. No doubt you once owned an Irish setter, thus making you believe you qualify as one of us. Cabbage.

  • Shane was born in Tunbridge Wells, Kent.

  • no he was born in tipp

  • Listen pal dont make an eejit of yourself that with that boring old myth. Just go on Wkipedia and you will see that he was born in Tunbridge Wells Kent, its a fact, seriously if you dont know the facts you shoudnt try to state them.

  • i live in tunbridge wells if you read shanes autobiography, he says that he moved to england when he was 6 years old also on the documentry if i should fall from grace he says the same thing before they moved to tunbridge wells, they lived in ealing london

  • Jesus...mate, Shane was born in Kent when his parents were visiting relatives there at Xmas, yes they were living in Ireland, but were on holiday when Shane was born, your quite correct to state that The Mcgowans moved to England when Shane was Six, but he was actually born in Kent.

  • dobre.. powściagliwie popijamy przy tym w polsce;)

  • Naked howlin' freedom...

  • That´s awesome!

  • YEAH :]

  • O and BTW Zero, Shawn is also english so well done mate!

  • your a fuckin cunt mate. Fact is though, most people who call themselves irish are americanl.

    Still, asbocat12 u are a twat.

  • this was meant to be a reply to asbocat12

  • Most of us here are mixed with something, many of us with Irish blood. Very few here are pure anything unless their parents are foreign born emigrants. We Americans aren't just proud to be Americans, but also like to be proud of where our ancestors hail.

I'm Irish, Italian, and Polish/Czech, but I identify most strongly with the Irish side. I guess it's where you feel the most comfortable.

  • Yep deffo is, and thats why so many Irish imigrated to England, must be because we're shit! You Fucking Prick, We're all the same, and just as equal. So next time you think about insulting something, then dont because you have know right, you small small person!

  • i was born in england and lived there for ten years,im speaking from experience, its a kip.

  • "If it ain't a fist it isn't love"

  • shit hot song! n its definatly shane singin!

  • this is my favorite pogues song its truely amazing

  • all in all it was a good album.

  • Ty for posting this. I´ve recently discovered The Pogues and they may be the best band I´ve ever heard. And this is one of their best songs. (The album isn´t one of their best though) One song I can recommend is Drunken Boat with Joe Strummer on the mic.

  • I can't believe this is still being discussed. Granted I don't know for sure, but when I first posted that comment I knew it was usually Shane singing, just a couple lines really sounded like Joe to me. I just thought it would be a simple answer. My guess is it's Shane.

  • That's definitely Shane singing. Shane is Irish, Joe is English.

  • What planet are you from???shane was born and bred in the midlands where he started his previous band the nipple erectors

  • Actually, he was born and bred in Tipperary and then moved over to the UK at young age, I'm not sure exactly how old but I believe it to be about ten years - his mother and father were both from Tipperary, as far as I know.

  • Actually, he was born in Tunbridge Wells and moved to Ireland when he was a kid.

  • Actually, thankyou for clearing it up of where exactly he was born, have checked and yep! you are right, great music great musician!!!

  • actually he was born at latitude 49.876523945620194857293480298439302

    longitude 46.12958029850394850394850398345098304958039485

  • That aint Joe bloody Strummer. It's Shane Macgowan.

  • yes. who in the world would think it was anyone else?

  • Yeah that's either Joe or Spider (Peter Stacy)

  • Great album :D

  • Who's singing here? It kind of sounds like Joe Strummer.

  • That's Shane MacGowan, he's the Pogues' singer. He does sound quite like him alright. Interestingly enough, I think Joe Strummer spent some time with the Pogues. And Shane MacGowan got part of his ear bitten off at a Clash concert. There's some riveting trivia for you

  • joe strummer produced hell's ditch

  • Thanks for posting this

  • i hate your fuckin user name you sick cunt
