do you need to apply cleaner on the inside? i got s&b filters on my bike and there solid black -.- think there origional colour was white and wasnt sure if i should oil them and possibly ruin them :s ps is the cleaner/ oil kit expensive?
Earlier today i was reading a magizine about putting a cold air intake and exhaust system on a f250 they mentioned after putting a cold air intake you can hear a bit more of the turbo .... does the intake effect the way it sounds in anyway?
Yes, the cold air intakes allow more air to pass through meaning more air into the turbo. This will make the turbo spool up quicker which and along with more mass flow through it you will hear a differance in the sound. My non turbo charged F-150 witha s+b cold air intake has a very noticable sound from the intake. It's basically from the increased flow of air. Stock intake piping is designed to reduce sound which is also performance robbing.
Paper filters do not need to be oiled but the ones like s+b and k&n that are the wire mesh type over the filter media do need oiling. But like parleysdiesel said they usually come preoiled. If they didn't have oil it would only catch large particles and not much else. The oil fills the spaces in the filter media and catches all the fine particles.
Do you have to oil All filter's?

Is the first two steps to clean all the dirt and crap out of the filter the same way to clean a K&N cone filter?

i have a 2006 chevy silverado its not a diesel and was wondering if S&B has a dry filter that would work with it? and where would i get it? Thanks

@hendryxcc S&B now makes a disposable dry filter that would fit your need. It's good for 15,000 - 30,000 miles, then you chuck it and by another one.

do they have a reusable dry filter?

@hendryxcc No, only a disposable one.

damn i didnt know about oiling :S do all air filters need to be oiled after cleaning? what does this do?

not all aftermarket intakes have to be reoiled, but most do. Almost any aftermarket intake comes preoiled, it helps with the filtering.
