  • I love Bejart, but I also dance classical Indian dance, and... I have doubts if this is not a profanation...

  • @terrierka Profanation? Now, now....do you think that a God that is Omnipotent needs a Human to defend It? Shiva is after all an aspect of The ALL That Is.

Dance is -you know - a worship of THE God.

I think God is ABSOLUTELY delighted with this worship.

  • I had heard Maina puts the precision and sex into this variation like no other ballerina can. As a temple dancer myself who learnt this dance piece entitled tisram allaripu ( an invocatory dance in waltz measure) I watched with skepticism and awe which soon melted to exhilaration as she nailed everything musicaly with more than thye required precision. But naughty Maurice, introducing hip flicks in post colonial Victorian hangover dance music accompaniment for Bharatanatyam.Sheer Chutzpah!

  • I've seen them in 1969 - in Avignon - it was just as fabulous as you see it here. Maina is a non-standard kick-ass beauty and a multi-talented dancer.

  • I've never heard of Maina Gieldud.......wow, she is FANTASTIC. Though I enjoyed Vishneva's version as well, Maina here looks more interesting, oozing something mysterious.

  • great!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I agree she has a charisma and integrity about the work

    she really believes it

one of my fav videos, and i'm picky

  • very nice indeed. Maina might not have the astonishiung high extensions of Dada Vishevnaya, but she has bottle and expression and was in all ways a great dancer who I saw many itmes. Modern adn classic. It's a shame her name is not in the tags, there's more by here on YouTube thatn you think at first.
