I admire that Hal also knew (like a drum beat) what to leave out of fame to make the ‘song’ work. Over 350 top ten hits and he remains a humble, level headed regular guy that can walk down the street and enjoy life and music without being mobbed. In that way he truly made the relationship with success in his life a hit too.
I have the whole hour long interview this is taken from- it's priceless! it's one of the DVD extras on the Jekyll & Mr Hyde Rock Musical, where Blaine appears as a drunk who gets beat up by Mr Hyde- classic!
Hal Blaine played drums on the soundtrack of our lives! He is a living legend who played on countless hits. To anyone who doesn't know of this man, do a search on Amazon for his book "Hal Blaine And The Wrecking Crew".
what a cool guy, he deserves more recognition for what he's contributed to popular music, it's kind of like the "standing in the shadows of mowtown" deal
Mr. Blaine, It was great to see and hear your comments about the film and the entire interview. I hope that there are many more people out there that realize your great contribution and talent to the entire Rock and Roll industry!. May you live long and drummer. Theringoone.
Hal rules! I am a huge fan and would love to hang with him for just one day. When is he going to write another book? I loved "The Wrecking Crew" but I'm sure he has a lot more great anecdotes and experiences to share.
Thanks- I've been fortunate enough to be friends with my hero Hal Blaine for about 10 years now, and yes, he's the coolest guy to hang with and has a thousand stories- and a thousand jokes. -AB

I've only played drums 8 years but most of what I learned was from Hal. He continues to be relevant and to inspire!
