  • yeah poor Theodore O'Connor he sounded like a great horse to bad he spooked and hurt his tendon. Pwynnnormans right it's unlikely that he was jumping to high (although he was small) what would be the use of jumping him higher and higher at home/training?

  • I was reading an article about his death,he was being ridden on a hack, and he spooked. He galloped back to the barn and slipped (supposedly he jammed on of his legs on the barn??) but he ended up tearing some major ligaments in his hind end. RIP Thedorable :( (My first breyer horse!)

  • It's OK, eventinggril1. Facts always get distorted. In a way, it's simpler to think of what happened as that. Personally, I find that easier on one's mind and memory that the awfulness of the horror that actually occurred. Those who were there won't be able to forget that, but perhaps it's a blessing that those who weren't won't have to.

  • WRONG.WRONG.WRONG. Dont be making up stories..i guarantee he was taken in the best care..i am a close friend of karen oconner. he didnt break his leg.. he did spook and get loose but didnt break his leg! he broke the most important part of the horse..it was a tendon..but i dont guess anyone knows what it is..but i do. most people dont know about it..i was told that by david oconner!

  • True ledgend of a pony!

    R.i.p Teddy (: x

  • how did he die he was sooooo amzing

    rip teddy

  • they said that he got spoked and bolted of, spiled in his back end and ripped his back ligament.

But others think that they where jumping him to high and he couldnt do it.

  • he slipped on the pavement because he spooked.

he never had any problems jumping. anyone who thinks that is terribly mistaken. he was NEVER pushed to hard or out of his limits. that pony was always in the best care.

  • xyzreimer, think about that a second and you'll realize why it's a silly supposition: WHY would there be any need to see how how he could jump? Anyone who thinks there's a higher standard of jumping in eventing than Rolex is simply ignorant. Top horses in show jumping and eventing rarely jump any height outside of competition. It'd be the height of folly to risk such a valuable animal for no reason--like taking your father's Mercedes to a monster mud rally.

  • i never said thats what i thought, that is just what i heard from other people.

  • I am so sorry for your loss! He was my pony hero. I just hope my Arab mare 14.2 hands tall can do just as well.

  • oooo teddy you were the world's best pony

    RIP teddy

  • omg your the owner? Im sooooooooooooo sorry about what happend. I was soooooooooooo sad when i found out i cant even imagine how hard it was.

  • RIP Teddy. You will be missed.

  • How high can Teddy jump?

  • Yes,Wynn, thanks for posting! I love that we (the average, inpiring eventers) can get an inside look at the best of the best of this amazing sport! I have a little QH mare that I like to think looks remarkably similar to Ted; he is such an inspiration to the smaller equine athletes of the world, ha ha!

  • You're welcome. Ted's day in the sun will inevitably end some day, but I sure hope there will be a lot of littler horses chugging away at it (rather than being traded in for something bigger) because of the likes of him. Thanks.

  • He looks sooo good. What is it like to own him???

  • Actually, it was easy to own all of him that is has been to only own several shares. There's a lot of paperwork! But I'll admit it's great fun to go watch the "O'Connor Equestrian Team" in action. I enjoy getting to see their other horses work out (and in competition), too. Like having a piece of a football or baseball team, I guess.

  • Thanks for responding. He is sooo cool a true insperation for people with eventing ponies (like me)

  • Thanks for posting this Pwynn, Teddy looks great!
