  • im sure you know enough about drag racing to know the difference in the two typs of cars in question...on one hand you have a ADRL pro mod car and more then twice the tire transfering the power to the track...on the other hand you have a outlaw car 10.5 in slick...if you put the same slick on tim linch's car and all the alloud suspension modifications that a pro mod has then you would see the same results basicly as a adrl pro mod, maby not quite as much as the pro mod but would still compete.

  • The thing that all the American Muscle vs Import Motor peeps seem to ignore is that the imports get an advantage in nearly every class.

    Smaller motors, V6, 4 bangers etc. can get a HUGE weight advantage. When you are only accelerating for 6, 7, or 8 seconds every pound counts.

    Depending on the class the difference could be 400 pounds.

    V8 or 4 banger it is simply power to weight ratio.

    PS V8's sound better winning or losing.

    V6, 4 bangers - sound like bumble bees winning or losing.

    hp per ci the jap motors are WAY ahead in any class where both can compete.

  • @mjs28s Another thing to remember is that a lot of V8s win in classes with A LOT more restrictions. Like for example 10.5 outlaw racing, only ONE type of power adder, 3000lb min curb weight with stock type front suspension, no nitro, methane, alcohol, no turbo larger than a true 98mm turbo and obviously a 10.5inch tire.

    Then you got the imports running alcohol a 101mm turbo, 300 shot of nitrous, methane in a 2200lb funny car and people are like whoaa, look the 4 cylinder did the same thing.

  • @bigfotan Name one japanese engine that you can make over 2400hp on the factory block, heads and crankshaft. I can name at least one American engine that can do that, just off the top of my head. Why are there numerous dodges with over 1 million miles on them, but no Hondas without rebuilds? Why can't the japanese make an engine that makes over 400hp without the aid of turbocharging?

  • @Milehighsnake98 I'm curious, what American engine can make 2400hp with a factory block, heads and crank? I can't think of a single factory block that would hold that much HP. I can think of a bunch that could do well over 1000hp, but not 2400. There are many Japanese engines that make over 400hp without turbo's btw. Almost all the Japanese car manufacturers have made V8's and V10 engines with well over 100/per liter for their race cars. The Lexus ISF has a 416hp V8, the LFA has a 552hp V10.

  • @Milehighsnake98 The Infiniti M56 has a 5.6L V8 that has 420hp. So that covers Nissan and Toyota, Honda could make one hell of a production v8 or v10 if they just would.

  • @sniper1334 honda/acura has all motor v10s coming in the 2012 nsx whenever its supposed to drop making 560hp/580 torque. I'm reading this in front of my face right as we speak, the motor should be more tuned in by time it drops...

  • @10SecLightning That's awesome, last I heard they pulled the plug on the NSX replacement, and those numbers seem odd for a Honda. Never heard of one making more Tq than HP. Send me a link if you don't mind. I wouldn't mind reading that. Hopefully Honda will get back into making sports cars.

  • @sniper1334 That would be sweet i would sell my fords in a heartbeat. It was in a Honda tuning magazine and some other bs magazine in my shop, idk the name of the other one though. I mean honda makes almost the most power per liter for their smaller engines so i could easily believe they will make a motor that makes the same amount torque as hp if not more.

  • I think they should make these cars do the cruise, like they did when they started the class. To prove streetability, they'd have to drive'm 25 miles....cut'em off...then they had to crank the car back up within so many minutes. If the car didn't do all the above, they couldn't race. The track usually had a course on the track grounds that the cars would go around 'til they had driven the 25 mile requirement.

    much much different weights of the cars, 10.5w cars like lynch weigh alot more then extr. 10.5, lynch is car is not a true 10.5 but a 11.2 or something close to that, thats why he runs 10.5w. also lynch's car once was a real car unlike the extr. 10.5 cars that are mostely just the slow promods that couldn't make the other fields so they set them up on 10.5's.

  • While titan's car is lighter, it is really setup for a different class of racing.. Titans best in the 1/4 so far I believe is a 6.44@220 And you better believe Tim has the boost turned up on that puppy.

    Tim's car is making 2000+ hp and probablly weighs in the 3400 lb zone. Titan is closer to the 2200 lb zone, while making ~1600 hp. Apples to oranges?

  • the titan cars best time is not a 6.44 but a 6.6. tim lynch is limited to a 10.5 tire while the titan is not if lynch were to run a wider tire as the titan does he would be much quicker.

  • i do belive the titan team does have an extreme 10.5 or ran their car in extreme 10.5 once and ran a 4.33 or something. either way mike the hitman hill just ran a 4.24 in extreme 10.5 rules. now thats pretty impressive to. i do believe lynch's car has that in it at orsca rules to though

  • hill did run a 4.2 that however is on a 10.5w tire which offers much more traction than a 10.5 tire. i dont know if titan has a 10.5 car or not and it doesnt really matter cause fact is lynch owns both ends of the record-no one is faster or quicker on a true 10.5.

  • Use your brain!!!! Imports weigh what 2400lbs because of there 4 and 6 cylinders! So before you can talk crap know your facts! I've been to Shakedown(live an hour from), Orlando. This guy does it at over 3000 lbs!(3200 to be exact) Each 100 lbs reduction is about a tenth faster. Lynch can absolutely crush an import! In the 8th or the quarter mile. We run pretty fast too with our 707 Henry Jackson engine! We run in the 7.10's at 3100 lbs
