The best part of this impression is that Caliendo NAILS the hippy-ish stuff Walton talks about- obviously the voice is spot on, but Frank talks exactly how Walton talks.
Detlef Schrempf was drafted by the Mavericks. That team will never accomplish anything as long as they keep pinning their hopes to seven foot tall, dorky German guys who shoot.
Detlef was a baller but it's funny that he's the player he picks out. I wonder if he remembers hearing Bill Walton talking about him? It's been so long since he played now. (I remember him backing up Scottie on the Blazers and then on the sonics before that...but shit that was 10 years ago and more)
Walton does tend to get carried away. I remember watching Pacer games in the 90s and he tried to declare Rik Smits a better player than Ewing at one point, not like a better player in the game or series but just a better player overall. And he would fawn over certain players like Jalen Rose. He called him "the great" Jalen Rose because he liked his toughness and willingness to take late shots.
@kappucccino No its Star Wars. Bill Walton was known for making irrational and exaggerated comments ( comparing Boris Diaw to Beetoven and Ray Allen to a Guitarist) in his commentary days. so your both wrong
World B. Free (born Lloyd Bernard Free on December 9, 1953 in Atlanta, Georgia)is an American former professional basketball player who played in the NBA from 1975-1988. Free was known as the "Prince of Midair" as well as "All-World".
Wikipedia says Bill named his son after his teammate Maurice Lucas. This is funny though, and I'm sure Walton knows a thing or two about drugs... (I'm kidding Billy, don't sue me)

I searched for this after reading a WikiPedia entry on Bill Walton. Can someone explain the jokes? For example, I know who Detlef Schrempf is, but not why he'd say "Scrempf is the best player".
Accodring to Caliendo, Walton can make anything bad or humdrum seem wonderful. Schrempf, of course, was a mediocre player at best, but Caliendo's take is Walton can make him sound like the second coming of Larry Bird.
In one of Caliendo's other Walton routines (several vids here on Youtube have this), he has Walton saying something overly excited and positive about a nuclear bomb going off.
Detlef Schrempf, in his prime, was more than mediocre. Watch him in Indiana and Seattle. Second best German baller behind Dirk, and not by much. Schrempf could shoot from outside, play D, handle the rock - a true team player.
Schrempf was anything but mediocre. You clearly haven't checked his stats lately. He was even in the Finals in '96 with Seattle. Unfortunately, they had to go against one of the greatest teams ever.
I think one thing that makes Mr. Caliendo's work so good is that he follows a "magicians' principle": It's better to know only five tricks and perform them well than to know a hundred and perform them poorly.
Very true, though he has to keep trying out and practicing new impressions.
John Madden and George W. Bush are currently retired, so who knows how long he'll be able to lean on those two impressions during his TEN YEAR run at the Monte Carlo in Vegas.
Haha..that was a lot like Walton. Not only cause of the way he sounded, he also said things that would typically come out of Walton's mouth. Things like Detlef Schremp is the greatest play and stuff like that.
this is Frank's best impression, by far. Madden stuff is sorta getting lame now and I think his Bush and Clinton impressions are pretty good, but they are wildly exaggerated. As in, it does sound like them, but it's not how they always talk. But this however, is how Bill Walton always talks.

Well it is all opinion but IMO he preforms some very spotty impressions.
IMO his impressions of Pacino and Charles Barkley are on the bad side and his Nicholson is really nothing special.
He does do some people very well like Madden and this impression of Bill Walton is top notch , others not so well.
